“Rain Bow” the LEADER!

img124

This is “Rain Bow” – born in the year 2007 – under two  high in the sky “Rainbows”  – the reason for her name!  She is a  Pinto and her FATHER was called “LUCKY SPOT” – because of the “LUCKY SPOT’ you see on the side of  “RAINBOW’s” neck – seems to pass on to all those who follow in this line.

To me, she looks like a good  looking,  “RACE Horse” – but I am told that she is a gaited-horse and  or saddlebred – her looks are deceiving –  she is the “LEADER” of the horses and if my son, Lee is around – she will force you and anyone out of the way – she wants Lee all to herself.  Besides  that,  I am told she is  possessive and unless you know how to handle horses – this is one horse to stay away from.

Lee can jump up on her and ride, but if someone else tries that – you more than likely will be thrown off.  “Rainbow” is headstrong and if she wants something- she gets her way with you and with  all  of the other horses. Now that she is older than the above picture  – you can spot her a mile away – she is black with those white stockings – white mane and tail all flying in the wind.

Just to be a “HORSE” is wonderful – as a horse you always look beautiful – everyone wants you and loves you – “Rainbow” just loves to be loved by everybody and loves giving lots of juicy “KISSES” – and if you are a “RACE HORSE” everyone spends all their money on you to “WIN” – “Isn’t it just so   wonderful,  to  just be a “HORSE!” – I think so!

Miss Bee-Be is all “DRESSED UP!”

img123

Did you ever see  a sweeter looking “Chihuahua” – and all “DRESSED UP”  and only going to take a walk around the neighborhood?

This  is little “Miss Bee Be”  – so sweet and the best little dogie wanting to learn everything  – doing her best to be the very best companion to owner! ME!

Took her for a walk one day – too warm to wear her sweater and fancy neckwear and was stopped  by some other “DOG OWNERS” – that started out by asking “What kind of  a dog is that?”  Since they seem, not to know  –  and I like to joke around – my reply was, “This is a miniature German Shepherd!”

They did not like that answer and said, “BUT – “SHE” –   is so small!”  So, I had to prove  – that I knew what I was talking about and said,   “She is the runt of the litter!”  I could see that they were confused with what I was saying – so with some  kind of small smile  – and a  little laugh,  said –  – “I just think Miss  Bee Be  – has  all of the “German Shepherd” coloring and it makes  her think  – that –  “she is as big as the next dog”  – when I  start to brag on her as being more than she is!”   So, we – all   parted – and walking on  toward home – just continued  with small amounts of  – laughing !

My son,  Lee and his wife Darlene raise dogs and sell them as well as other animals and thought that  – Miss Bee Be would be just the right size  dog for me!

“Which’BIRD’ do you want?”

IMG_1609

“Look over this way – looks like one of these Herons  is getting some good size fish?”       “You look your way as  I’m concentrating on this big one  – she is looking right at me – guess she is trying to figure out how fast I am – ?”  “If she gets any closer to me – will I be able to have her for lunch??”

“What I want is a bird “full of fish”  – and when one of these birds over here get the right kind of fish  – that  I like – – I’ll be leaving you – so that I can enjoy my lunch – to the fullest!”           “You mean to tell me that you are not sharing – remember the other day when that bird that I took the time to drag in here – just  so that  – you could  see what a good job I did – I let you take some of it  – first – before I even started in on the “old bird” – cause,  I really  had – had my exercise for a week – just getting it here?”

We had better start talking in our “NATIVE LANGUAGE” cause they may  be listening…”MEOW…MEOW!”            “OKAY!”…”MEOW”…”MEOW”…”MEOW!!!”

This photo was sent to me – from my brother Denny and his wife Judy  The conversation was of their cats “Tiger Lily” and”OPAL” – checking out  the Florida Birds  from their back yard. Thanks  for the photos and Thanks to everyone who has an animal picture that you would like to see here.

“One More Song for Lovers!”

Sometimes when I start to think about something that happened a hundred years ago – my mind wonders into other departments – and like all of us “GRANDMAS” we like for everybody to be in “LOVE!” Usually “LOVERS” have a song for all the important times of their “LIFE” together – so my brain started focusing on another “SONG” that Lee and I enjoyed dancing too – and I just Love the way he would sing those words, to me.

The song, “Just the way you look, tonight” – those words if sung to you – any time of the day – or even in the middle of the night – just whenever – will keep your marriage  – “TOP” drawer – and forever!

You can find the song on your computer – and save that spot – so that whenever you need a “pick-me –upper” this is the song that will do it. Check out – if your favorite singer or recording artist has it available and listen to it? Then check out “TONY BENNETT” – so far “TONY BENNETT” will have the musical medicine that your marriage – might need?

Since my husband Lee is long time gone – and I never wanted for him to be forgotten by anyone, had an old Photo of Lee, enlarged and done in color – so that no one can ever forget what he looked like.

But, after a while – when you never ever hear the voice – you almost feel as if the one LOVE of your LIFE is slowly fading away. I do have a copy of tapes – but I only wish that I had more – so that is why  – I like to remind – “you the reader” – that before it ever gets too late for you and the LOVE of your LIFE – get some of your favorite memories recorded and photographed – so that – the longest day you may live – you will never be without a reminder of your LOVE for each other! “FOREVER!”

“Time and Tide wait for no man” – if I heard that once  – it might have been a million or more times – that’s what my MOTHER – said to me – so I have to pass-it on to you. There just is no “TIME” – like the present “TIME” – for all of us to get the really important things done. What we do “TODAY” our families will love and remember  – that we were always thinking about them and we will know that all our LOVE for one anther will be the true substance of all our “MEMORIES!”

Remember – “When I grow too old too “DREAM” – I’ll have you to remember” then, just start  recalling  the words to – “JUST THE WAY YOU LOOK, TONIGHT!” Those two songs for us Grandmas and Grandpas will make the world go around  – and in “PEACE!”

“When I grow too old to DREAM…”

“I’ll have YOU to REMEMBER…” Are you old enough to remember that old song? That is one song that I have never heard of in the early 1950’s, since I was interested in the “FAST” moving music – I had wings on my heels and was always flying  – in a hurry!

Yesterday my son, Lee wanted to know what I wrote, as he is an over the road driver – just to keep all the animals well fed on the farm! So, I read the story on the “Irish Lullaby” and the very first thing he wanted to know – what was DAD’s favorite song? He said that DAD’s voice sounded a lot like “DEAN MARTIN’s the movie star and singer – and that he would remember DAD playing the harmonic and singing.

Lee, was correct- as we would take long trips driving St. Louis to Florida and back – so much, so – that I could drive almost without ever having to check the map – we traveled the same main course – sometimes a detour to see something of interest and then back on the main roads – till we would finally reach home or family in Missouri!  We would have so much “FUN” singing – Lee Sr., was the real singer – had so much feeling that he would put into his songs – and that is one thing that I really miss, today. No one sings like my husband Lee Sr., and for a voice similar – “Dean Martin” comes close in some of his songs?

So, while Lee Jr., was on the phone – I pulled up the song, “When I grow too old to DREAM…” and while the music was playing I sang along. The singer was nothing like what I remember – the way Lee would sing it to me – but for the general idea – I ‘m guessing my son got the idea?

Today, when I had the time to check out if “DEAN MARTIN” sang “When I grow too old…” – there was nothing that I could find – but I did find and listen to him singing “La Vie EN ROSE” – and – now I will check that song out again – when my son is on the phone and see if he thinks that song – sounds something like his DAD’s singing voice – that he remembers? When checking out “DEAN MARTIN”  – found that his birth date is a couple months earlier,  than my husband – so maybe lots of men born that year have very good singing voices – maybe some of the “gifts” that are handed out in different years  – are similar to all in a particular year – and then it is up to each individual to cultivate the talents and or work on improving them so that in developing their talents – they will find a way to make a way to earn a living with some down to earth “HARD-WORK!”  “What do you think?”

There was another singer, “NELSON EDDY” – that sang “When I grow too old…”- that I believe really sings a song in a way you could just listen to him forever. But it is the words of “When I grow too old to DREAM …” that we need to give some serious thought to? During times of “WAR” and “FAMILY” separations – “We want someone to think about us – as we are thinking about them?” “Would you be thinking that – you would be feeling better – if someone you “LOVED” was thinking of the two of you together?” – “SOME-TIMES???”

“Too-ra-Loo-ra-Loo-ral”…

“That’s an Irish Lullaby” – Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral”  – the music sheet for this “Scottish-Irish” Celtic Lyrics song,  so often  sung in the movies by Bing Crosby – is one song that I could listen to  – over and over and never get tired of listening!

Posting the “Piano-Player Cat – Pearl” yesterday  – brought to mind that it would be wonderful if “Pearl” could play “Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral” – “That’s an Irish Lullaby” – because I just know that “Pearl” had to be an Irish Cat – living in an Irish family  – and we like good  folk songs and music!

When I was a very young girl – we had radio and record players – and at our house we had baskets full of records – all the best of music – lots of light “Opera” – because my Mother would sing along – she had a beautiful voice. If my Mother felt like singing, she would and without the background music of a record – and without the radio – and it was always the best of sounds to me!

“Then and when”  –   we were living  at the “Orphanage” – my Mother brought the sheet music for “Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral” for me to learn to play – but without lessons it was difficult – but there was a girl or two that were learning to play the piano and even one, “Lucille Yoergler ”  learning to play the accordion – and they would play the song the best that they could. Most of the NUNS were German and not of Irish descent – so not interested in playing an Irish song just for me – and those that could play the song – might once  and never again.

So, for me the most important thing in life – was that if I was “LUCKY” to have children – they would learn to play the “PIANO” – if they never ever learn how to do anything else – and I was blessed  – in that both of my sons did learn to play the “PIANO” and several other musical instruments – they can read and write music  – and one extra gift they received – they can listen to NEW Music, before the music sheet is published and write the notes down that they hear. So, now I get to hear the  best music that I want to hear  – performed by my sons, and – all in the here and “NOW” –  as often  as I want to hear it!

In the 1970’s and 1980’s – I had gone to the Orphanage and would bring to my house a couple of the NUNS – some that were still living there – so that, they would enjoy dinner and lunch at my house  – and while at my house – they enjoyed playing the Lowery Organ that my son’s would play – and we would have plenty of good music and song.  The “song” would be my department – and of course “great singers – like me” are always told “Don’t quit your day time job!” The name of the game- time spent with these NUNS at my house was fun and enjoyment – nothing like this ever took place when I was a little girl in that Orphanage!

The best memory was of Sister Margaret Mary; a very good friend of mine who, just loved to play the “Organ” and was a natural, as she also played the “Church Organ” at the Orphanage. When she played “Too-ra-loo-ra-loo-ral” – the feeling of the music was such that I almost expected “Bing Crosby” to start singing the song as he did in the movie!
