“Miss Anne Elizabeth Smart”

Why do we save old PHOTOS  – – of our ancestors that we never met – – and really do not know?

I must have been born under the “SIGN” of the collector  – – I do not know of such   of a ‘sign’  in any of the Astrological signs  – – that are  so very popular with people – – that… they  read the daily paper – – just to see what they are suppose to do… each day – –  – – BUT – – when relatives die and leave  “stuff”  behind – – and with no special directions – – as to what to do with  said  “stuff”  – – and no information   on “old PHOTOS”  – – well I do know they are relatives – – and I just can not throw out a relative.

In the mid 1800’s – – and you were BLESSED  with girls – – just looking at this ‘dress’  that little ANNE  has on – – sure did require someone to do a lot of  hand stitching – –  and the  expertise  in the garments that were made  – –  needed hours of time – – and every young girl must have  had a hand in the making of their clothes – – and the little “DOLL” that is held in “ANNE’s” hand – –  she must be showing us – – that she was able to make a very nice dress … from the scraps from her own dress – – for her little DOLL.

Besides old PHOTOS…  I even inherited  – – some unfinished embroidery items – – that my MOTHER   did not finish – – and the stitching is just beautiful – – so perfect the “French KNOTS”  – – I wanted to finish this one piece – – but did not even try – – after finishing  some squares for a  ‘quilt’ that was not finished – – because   my sewing was so bad – – just ashamed to even finish the ‘quilt’ – – and could not  rip out my stitches – –  so everything is just waiting – – and for what — I do not know?

All I can say… “Why start a project – – if you are not planning on completing  it – – You know how it should be – – and,  that – – there  is mo one else – – to ever  really  finish … another’s…  work of art.”

“MY very…Young Grandma… Smart-Brady”

This Photo is so old… maybe (167) – one hundred  and sixty-seven years old – – but just wanted to see if  – – by magic – – pushing a few different buttons on this computer – – not having  any real idea of what – – if anything – – is there some extra little bit of facial qualities – – to compare with all of the succeeding generations?”

“Anne Elizabeth Brady” standing in what looks like the wide open fields of Missouri – – when the settlers were coming to America – – finding some kind of work – – and living in large “Boarding Houses” – – with several other Families – –  – – So… in this case … with this PHOTO taken to look  like the  vast large roaming areas – –  this printed “PHOTO – POST CARD” – – was already to ADDRESS – –  Stamp – – and  write a very small message  – – in  that small area – – to let your FOLKS… back in ENGLAND… from  the home of her FAMILY – – just  to see and know a little  “okay” that…  all is  “A-OK”  fine… in AMERICA!”

“80th Birthday Greetings from State Representative”

Here’s the story… “When my 80th Birthday was getting close – – a couple of months ago – – knew that if you ask for a    “BIRTHDAY”   Greeting from the President – – you need to start months ahead of said birthday.”

So I started on line to find the correct office and where to go – – and it stated to contact your “State Representative”  – – and they will do the requesting for you – –  by contacting the PRESIDENT’s  office – – so that you would receive a GREETING for your 80th BIRTHDAY – – –  I called my “State Representative’ office and was told to go on line and request the “GREETING OFFICE” on line  and you will receive a greeting. – – BUT… since I was talking to the  “S.R. office – –  added .. “If your “OFFICE” also sends out a “BIRTHDAY GREETING” – – I would like to receive … your BIRTHDAY GREETING, too.”

My thoughts – – if you are asking one office for a GREETING – – from another office – – may as well – – express to the person – – that you are talking to – – that if they would also like to do the same – – to  send a GREETING – – well – I sure do … NOW want to THANK the…  STATE Representative’s office – – in that the message was clear – –  and this is a very nice card from “REP.  Gretchen Bangert”  – – as joy and very much happiness was felt with these important  elected people in and for  AMERICA – – took the TIME – – to send an ordinary citizen – – their well wishes and Blessings from our Almighty Creator.  D.V.

“Birthday Greetings from Senator Claire McCaskill”

In a day… when everyone but me…  has a cell phone – –  and that is where everyone is — doing all of their communicating – –  in fact you have seen on TV – –  some people so engrossed in their “cell” connections – – they are falling into holes – –  walking into lamp posts  and  bumping into  traffic signs – – as nothing is seen nor heard – – to  these people  – – with their head and eyes   – – so “cell phone”  focus  – –  are blind to  their  surroundings  –  –  are suffering from…. ridiculous accidents.

So I  am grateful and thankful for the “MAIL Delivery Service” – – it brings “GOOD NEWS” when it is  your “80th Birthday”  – – and the best part is… “You have something in your hand – – for you to show and share with your FAMILY and FRIENDS – – and then give THANKS to the ALMIGHTY – – that you were here… on earth for all these 80 years to enjoy LOVE and KINDNESS – – from everyone.”

“80th Birthday Greetings from the President”

“Better late… than never…”

This is the surprise of my LIFE  – – I knew that a request went in to the  “80th” Birthday Greeting office  – – but when nothing was delivered – – OH… well – –  – – LIFE  – – just has a  way to continue on.

You can see my sharp… pointing finger…  showing  the most important part of the envelope – –  – that is the return  address for the “White HOUSE” – – was wondering just how many of these large envelopes – – that are sent by the “PRESIDENT  Donald Trump” to us  older citizens  – – especially the ones as old as me – –  that remember so much about the days when  we had “ration coupons” for everything that was important to purchase – – like “sugar” and “gasoline” – – with out that coupon – – you would learn to do without a lot of things we use today – – and all without a second thought.

Today in HISTORY – – I guess I can call one of those “DAYS” that will be talked about – – with everyone I know – – will meet – – and of course all the relatives that are still alive – – but  – -every chance that I can write about this special day – – will  add a good word to every one – – that in AMERICA – – even the PRESIDENT will send  to you his very own special message – – and  – – just because you  live and LOVE the LAND of YOUR BIRTH.

“It is good – – that our Creator – – the Almighty YAHWEH – – is watching over AMERICA – – and is giving to us… HIS LOVE and PROTECTION – – especially – – for all those that ask HIM – – for we will continue to PRAY for all peoples…  around the world – – to receive the  very same LOVE and PROTECTION.”       D.V.

“Play this message… everyday”

“We should be grateful  and most   THANKFUL – –  to our Almighty Creator – – to have this wonderful  “United States of AMERICA” to  call HOME of  the Brave and the FREE – – with so many “Opportunities” available if we but…   study and work – – to  add our talents to where they best  work for the greater good of us all!”

“After all is said…  and done… we are  “ALL”  here such a short TIME – – and then… we receive the best of BEST REWARDS… in the  “HERE AFTER” – – best described in the last book of the BIBLE – – pick  up your BIBLE and check it  out… just to see…  if you are on the correct road – – could be some serious changes in your LIFE – – may need to be made… NOW!”

In 1969, Red Skelton gave his personal view of the Pledge of Allegiance.
The statement he made at the end, I think, tells it all.

Red Skelton, one of America’s best loved Comedians and star of Motion Pictures, Radio and Television, was also a true Patriot. A man who loved his Country, its Flag and the Freedom America stood for. On January 14, 1969, Red touched the hearts of millions of Americans with his “Pledge Of Allegiance,” in which he explained the meaning of each and every word. Red’s “Pledge” was twice read into the Congressional Record of the United States and received numerous awards.

Red Skelton – What the Pledge means to ME

This was first broadcast on:
From The Red Skelton Hour, CBS TV, January 14, 1969.
COPYRIGHT 1969 RICHARD RED SKELTON

I remember this one teacher. To me, he was the greatest teacher, a real sage of my time.
He had such wisdom. We were all reciting the Pledge of Allegiance one day, and he walked over.
Mr. Lasswell was his name.
He said, “I’ve been listening to you boys and girls recite the Pledge of Allegiance all semester, and it seems as though it is becoming monotonous to you.
If I may, may I recite it and try to explain to you the meaning of each word?”

I: me, an individual, a committee of one.
PLEDGE: dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.
ALLEGIANCE: my love and my devotion.
TO THE FLAG: our standard, Old Glory, a symbol of freedom.
Wherever she waves, there is respect because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts freedom is everybody’s job.
OF THE
UNITED: that means that we have all come together.
STATES: individual communities that have united into 48 great states.
Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose, all divided with imaginary boundaries yet united to a common purpose, and that’s love for country.
OF AMERICA
AND TO THE REPUBLIC: a state in which sovereign power is vested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people and it’s from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.
FOR WHICH IT STANDS
ONE NATION: meaning, so blessed by God.
INDIVISIBLE: incapable of being divided.
WITH LIBERTY: which is freedom, the right of power to live one’s own life without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.
AND JUSTICE: the principle or quality of dealing fairly with others.
FOR ALL: which means, boys and girls, it’s as much your country as it is mine.
Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: UNDER GOD
Wouldn’t it be a pity if someone said, “That is a prayer,” and that would be eliminated from schools , too?
