“NATIONAL LOVE IS KIND DAY”
NATIONAL LOVE IS KIND DAY
Just as on July 4th Americans celebrate their independence, so is July 27th to be celebrated—a day to celebrate independence from the abuser. July 27th, National Love is Kind Day is the day to:
- Celebrate for all victims of domestic violence/domestic abuse their FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE from their abuser.
- Recognize our right to be treated with KINDNESS. Because real love is kind, not terrorizing.
- Realize that kindness is the path to healthy and safer relationships, families, society, and the world.
- Give voice for and hope and support to others who are still suffering, often in silence.
- Spread messages how we can be kind to one another, especially to those closest to us.
- Remember that love is not abusive, violent, demeaning or dehumanizing. If someone uses love as an excuse for their hurtful behavior, it’s not real love.
With every generation, the cycle of abuse continues to cripple families, especially women and children who are most vulnerable. The cycle of abuse must stop now.
National Love is Kind Day encourages you to become aware of how you are treating people, how people are treating you, and how you can become emboldened, supported, and empowered to lead the joyful and productive life you deserve. With improved and proper support, families can know and experience the freedom and love found in an abuse-free home. Children grow up with positive role models, and both adults and children lead more productive, happy, and mentally healthy lives.
The day is an opportunity to say “No to abuse, violence, and ridicule! And begin saying, “Yes, to kindness! And yes, to sharing my voice! Yes, I am worth it and my life matters. Kindness rules!”
Stop the cycle of abuse and make a difference to create a kinder world.
HOW TO OBSERVE #NationalLoveIsKindDay
They are many ways to celebrate this day and join the Love is Kind Movement!
- Expect to be treated with kindness. Repeat the mantra “I deserve to be treated with kindness,” especially if you’ve ever been abused, bullied, or sexually harassed or assaulted.
- Exchange negative actions and words for positive ones for the day. For example, replace hitting with a walk, yelling with deep breathing, and insults with kind gestures and words, such as, “let me understand.”
Being kind to others starts with being kind to yourself. It also means setting healthy boundaries for yourself. - Celebrate with Domestic Violence survivors their freedom from abuse! If you or someone you know left an unhealthy relationship, this is YOUR independence day. Celebrate your freedom from abuse/domestic violence. While you’re celebrating, post in Social Media your freedom story and tag #TheLoveisKindMovement Post. Share and celebrate here: www.facebook.com/groups/TheLoveisKindMovement and LIKE: www.facebook.com/TheLoveisKindNetwork where you can also share your stories and celebrate.

“See EYE to EYE and TOE to TOE”
AND … Up and AWAY We Go….
Come to think of it… this must be where little baby Al… got the first feelings that he could FLY!
When you are in the strong hands of your Father… and he is able to FLY you through the room and even take you to the Living Room mirror… just for you to see… for yourself… that when you feel like it… you can always FLY high above everything and anything … here on Earth!
What a wonderful time you and Daddy were having flying and laughing and just having so much FUN…I just had to get the camera and catch a couple of pictures with you both laughing and flying around the house… just as if you were miles high in the clear Blue Sky above!
Flying just comes natural to some people… I guess when they start early in LIFe … just as you did … it is easy and so much fun.
As I posted pictures of you when you arrived at the Lambert Airport… having made that solo trip and only being eighteen months at the time and never cried and was happy all the way… while the Eastern Airline Hostess would keep their eyes on you… being sure that your were safe and happy all through that long trip from Florida to Missouri.
No wonder that when you were in High School that you decided to start learning all about Flying and started taking lessons… and in no time at all … you took your “Solo” Flying test and have been Flying ever since.
That is… I believe the one thing that everyone likes to see and hear about… young people deciding on something that they like to do… work and study how to do that thing to perfection… get their License and continue doing and or working in that specified field… and if possible sticking with it… for all the rest of their LIFE!
And the topping on the “CAKE” is when you can say that members in the family also see that field of enterprise working for you and since it is so interesting then, they also would like to do that which you are doing… most of the family is also involved in the same field of business… you have encouraged all to take to the SKY!

“Live and Learn to FLY Today…Forever”
Pre Flight Test!
This is Cape Canaveral, Florida and we are on our way to Merrit Island to visit our cousin Jimmie Brady Shilling.
I remember… as if it were just yesterday… our loading up the vehicle with just about everything that you can think of… since we… the whole family were invited to stay a week with the “Shillings!
To be able to just leave the house and not fix Breakfast for all of us first… and then a hundred other little things that one does have to think of… when you know… that you will not be home for a week… is something we were able to do back then.
One thing that I can say now… we never had a key to the front door… or any door… as we never did lock the doors… I do not believe anyone took the time to lock their doors… back then!
I did all the driving … do not know why… but when I bought my car… it just seem to be the thing to do and my husband left the driving up to me and so with me at the wheel … just driving up the Florida Highway coast and far enough away from home … with an eye looking out for a good place to stop for our breakfast.
We started our day nice and early, just so that we could stop at a fancy eat-in restaurant, other than our own… and just sit back and enjoy the comfort of being waited on… and not thinking of doing any clean up… as families usually do at home when you have small children. I can still see all of us… just having fun and enjoying the time having some relaxing fun time… no real work for a week!
We were planning on staying a week and enjoying the swimming at Jimmy’s place on Merrit Island. They had spent some time at our home in Ft.Lauderdale, and said to come up to their place just as soon as we could make the arrangements and plan on doing some sightseeing.
That is little Al Aldrich, sitting and holding his hands… I just can not see nor tell from the above picture… if he is about to cry or if he feels that he will be stuck up there too long… as he can see all around the area… from his… top of the whole world position!
Al is near or he is just 2 years of age, sitting so high and all by himself.
Al made a solo trip from Ft.Lauderdale to St.Louis, MO via Eastern Air Lines at the age of eighteen months. He is happy now. being a licensed pilot and as of today … I believe that Helicopters are his favorite!

“Dressed like this – Would You go Swimming”
“HOT” and “NO AIR-Conditioner”
Since it is so… “HOT” … in this month of JULY…
“HOW would you like to have to dress like the girls in the PHOTO … that follows?”
“Because with no “AIR- CONDITIONER”… you must feel that a dip in the “LAKE” just maybe… you will feel cooler?”
Only a hundred years ago…and you are in the mood to get “cool” with a quick swim in the nearby LAKE … but you would have to first put your “most fancy SWIM-SUIT” …on!
In the early 1900’s… you may not remember … since you did not have to LIVE in those days… but your daily dress attire would include… a very long dark color dress, with long sleeves and high collar.
Under this dress would be a corset and pantaloons or drawers … knickers of the most baggy of size … that would button or maybe you would have to gather around the waist and then tie around the waist as tight as you want … then maybe two petticoats with at least six yards of material, and a couple of matching petticoats… depending on the weather.
Well … with all of those clothes on your body… it is not surprising… that more women were not just passing out all over the place… due to the HEAT.
So… now to take a SWIM to COOL off … a young lady would take off all of the above listed clothing and then put on that “fancy swimsuit” as the girls in the above photo have on.
Is… there much of a difference… I think not… just looking at the above “SWIMSUIT” would almost cause a young lady to sink and drown… if she did not faint… just making the changes in the highly attractive attire to wear!
When you have a situation of too much… hot weather… no wonder someone with brains came along and decided she has had enough!
There is always a “MOTHER of Invention” She will come along and say enough is enough… something has to be done and be done NOW!
Over the years… as everything takes some amount of time to change… like less clothes… make them shorter and only one slip and one pair of underwear… lighter colors and lighter fabrics to wear… just look at all those changes happening… putting more people to work and more money in the pocketbook to spend on all these newer and better things… WOW!
“COOL the AIR” in the home and workplace and then in the automobile… wonder if anyone has ever given THANKS… for those persons to have worked long hours … creating inventions of things that will “COOL US” …making living better today than they had back in those 1900 days!
Maybe our SUMMERS just happen to be on the too “HOT Side”… but there is something to remember though…there will always be “TOO HOT” days and times…
So.. from “ME”… a big THANKS to those that can make good changes in this LIFETIME… just a bit cooler and easier for all of us senior citizens … so we can make it through another wonderful day!
