“NATIONAL WEBMISTRESS DAY”
NATIONAL WEBMISTRESS DAY
National WebMistress Day recognizes women in web development on August 26th.
A WebMistress is a woman who designs, develops, markets and maintains websites. The term has existed since the mid-1990s. In June of 1995, the term officially entered technology’s lexicon. That month, Kat Valentine secured the domain name WebMistress.com. Taking the name a step further, Valentine then began web development under the job title WebMistress. Comparatively, the term WebMaster arrived on the scene as early as 1986, according to various classified ads.
Now, thousands of women work under the job title WebMistress. More than 20 years later, the word still raises eyebrows. However, WebMistress has a place not only on the résumé but is a legitimate job title in the business world. Take the time to acknowledge the women in web development to promote the job title in the business and lose the stigma associated with the word.

“Ride the Wind Day with us Yesterday”
If you just stop and think back… we have had some terrific days with all those Pilots that have their own human-powered aircraft that allows us to enjoy watching them take off into the Blue Sky above… and showing us … that are standing on the ground below… that to be up there flying… is just the best thing to do for wholesome “Recreation” today!
This is Al… ready to take off and do his thing… as he also does fly his own Plane and will drop by to see you… when he is flying a helicopter… just let him know… he is ready to fly!
If you can build it… and it can FLY…looks like … that there is no age restriction… as I do not think that you have to be real young to take up the flying of your own “Home-built” Aircraft!
There he is! “WOW”
What a wonderful time one has… up there for all to see and view… wishing only that they could also do what you are doing so nice and high… up in that nice BLUE SKY!
When you have an Airport… and are having an Air Show in the good ole Summer Time… you just have to ask for a display of the best of best trained Pilots to show up in one of our very own “Uncle Sam’s Aircrafts!”
There is nothing better than to live in America… where you can ask “Uncle Sam” to provide some of his well trained young men to show up in a “Helicopter” at yout Airport… where you and all the Visitors can learn from these young men that serve as they are trained for many kinds of important duties across this Earth… especially right here at home…
Give Thanks… that we live in America…. where we have Freedom for all those of our neighbors… to share and enjoy just one FUN DAY at this Airport!

‘NATIONAL RIDE THE WIND DAY “
Enjoy the last days of summer and the warm summer breezes on August 23rd as you celebrate the annual National Ride the Wind Day.
The Gossamer Condor 2 was built by Dr. Paul B MacCready and piloted by amateur cyclist and hang-glider pilot Bryan Allen.
The Gossamer Condor 2 aircraft is preserved at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.
We all know that cooler air is right around the corner so take advantage of these nice days and get outside as much as possible. Test out those human-powered aircraft and make some history. Summer breezes allow us to fly human-powered. In the event you lack a human-powered aircraft, flying a kite is always a good back plan.
When is National Paper Airplane Day?
HOW TO OBSERVE #RideTheWindDay
Take to the air! Learn about piloting a glider or consider being a passenger. FFA certified pilots will take you soaring into the beautiful blue skies. Share your experiences and be sure to use #RideTheWindDay to post on social media.

“Charlie Rich – America the Beautiful “
and…
and…
and…
Charles Allan Rich (December 14, 1932 – July 25, 1995) was an American country music singer, songwriter, and musician.[1] His eclectic style of music was often difficult to classify, encompassing the rockabilly, jazz, blues, country, soul, and gospel genres.[2]
In the later part of his life, Rich acquired the nickname the Silver Fox. He is perhaps best remembered for a pair of 1973 hits, “Behind Closed Doors” and “The Most Beautiful Girl“. “The Most Beautiful Girl” topped the U.S. country singles charts, as well as the Billboard Hot 100 pop singles charts and earned him two Grammy Awards. Rich was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2015.
Rich was born in Colt, Arkansas, United States, to rural cotton farmers.[1] He graduated from Consolidated High School in Forrest City, where he played saxophone in the band. He was strongly influenced by his parents, members of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Forrest City, as his mother, Helen Rich, played piano and his father sang in gospel quartets. A black sharecropper on the family land named C. J. Allen taught Rich blues piano. He enrolled at Arkansas State College on a football scholarship and then transferred to the University of Arkansas as a music major after a football injury. He left after one semester to join the United States Air Force in 1953.[1]
While stationed in Enid, Oklahoma, he formed “the Velvetones,” playing jazz and blues and featuring his wife, Margaret Ann, on vocals.[2] He and Margaret Ann Greene married in 1952. Upon leaving the military in 1956, they returned to the West Memphis area to farm 500 acres. He also began performing in clubs around the Memphis area, playing both jazz and R&B. During these times, he began writing his own material.
America The Beautiful
Oh beautiful, for heroes proved,
In liberating strife,
Who more than self, our country loved,
And mercy more than life,
America, America, may God thy gold refine,
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain devined.
And you know when I was in school,
We used to sing it something like this, listen here:
Oh beautiful, for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties,
Above the fruited plain,
But now wait a minute, I’m talking about
America, sweet America,
You know, God done shed his grace on thee,
He crowned thy good, yes he did, in a brotherhood,
From sea to shining sea.
You know, I wish I had somebody to help me sing this
(America, America, God shed his grace on thee)
America, I love you America, you see,
My God he done shed his grace on thee,
And you oughta love him for it,
Cause he, he, he, he, crowned thy good,
He told me he would, with brotherhood,
(From sea to shining sea).
Oh Lord, oh Lord, I thank you Lord
(Shining sea).
