“Hot Visiting Sunday in August”

Some PHOTOS show more things when they are large enough to see the little things – – that can not be seen at a first glance!

I took this 001

When you are young – – like I was when I was taking this PHOTO – –  YOU would never think to make notes as to what is going on – – who is in the PHOTO – – what day of the week and what is this occasion – – and any other special things that if  possible,  were of importance – – “if”  only,  I would have made written notes – – as  to “HOW”  in the world will  I  be able to remember,  for tomorrow – – what,  ever happened yesterday?

It does have to be a “Visiting Sunday at the Orphanage – but,  also, must be too HOT for too many parents to make the long  journey,   which takes at least an hour or more for most of the  families to travel, way back in the 1940’s and then,   by BUS on Sunday –  “WOW” – that was the ‘slow-poke’   Bus  travel day – – who or what is  the hurry?

There is one thing, for sure, that I can give my PARENTS and that is an  extra big  “A”  on their report cards and  that would be  with lots of   “Gold STARS” – – as they never missed a time to  come out to the ORPHANAGE , to visit and be with  us – – they even came out during the week and even when they were told in some very harsh ways – – only visit when allowed!

When ever  my “PARENTS”  came to visit us – – they always had  shopping bags of stuff for us. One of the favorite things that we all liked was home made fudge. That was something that even my MOM would make with no problems  – – as it was always perfect – –  but and since we all enjoyed it so well – – it never lasted long!

Once that I had started writing and sending those “Penny Post CARDS” to my MOM – – “I’m guessing that the “Postman” thought we were starving – – since these “postcards” practically had a “grocery list” of foods that I liked and or wanted if my MOM hand the time and money to buy for us. That was one thing that  I should not have done – – ask for stuff that I thought that I needed – – as no one else would ask their “PARENTS” for stuff, like I did.

Getting back to the above PHOTO – –  I can see that “Tommy is in pain – – as those spots on his  left leg – – show where he has “poison ivy” – – and where ever it was growing – – he sure did find the  right place – -and  that  was every year. There must be something in our make up – – as I have that problem every year. For the last  maybe thirty years –  if,  I just walk  where green stuff is growing – – it hits me so hard – – that,   there have been  some times when my arms would  just blow up to the size of a “foot ball” –  and with my long finger nails  – – and a scratch or two  to and for  the itch – I know what “PAIN” is!

“So to my “PARENTS” for being there to see us kids – – and always bringing us stuff – – whether we asked for something or not – – Thanks for being the BEST EVER – – as the Almighty  Yahweh,  knew way back and when – – that in the end – – we would see that, HE did a very good thing for all of US!    D.V.
