DENNY is REMEMBERED…

Remembering DENNY Jr.,

Ellen Aldrich

Michael’s voice is a true gift…from his CREATOR – – this song was sung at my brother’s funeral service – – my brother, Denny H. McClarren’s favorite song… may all your HOPES and Dreams be carried on EAGLE WINGS, too….
Just thought everyone would like to hear and remember DENNY!

“More MEMORIES of DENNY…”

Here we are… a little on the serious side… in order to take a few PHOTOS – – have to stop some of the talking – – that I did  get carried away with.  Sometimes when I get to talking – – someone has to  just start talking  – – and proceed to just take over – – – other wise I cold talk your arm off!

Sure am glad that the damage to this PHOTO – – did not interfere with any  important  part of Denny and me – –  we are just posing for the camera – – in hopes these PHOTOS will be good  — when developed – – never know  – – and by the time the film is developed – – the time and circumstances are gone forever – – and of course we are not available – – as the SEASON to be happy is long  gone and over.

Even though DENNY is not really smiling  – – as he was in yesterday’s PHOTO – – I do have to say that  – – that my brother DENNY is a real good looking  young man – – in uniform – – and in the service … working for his … good ole “UNCLE SAM!”

Here is DENNY McClarren – – and again with the best of SMILES    – –  it looks like to me – – that when you have small puppies as cute as this  one  is … in DENNY’s arm… and of course this little puppy knows  – – that he will be given to a home  to help a blind person – – but that…  will be after  the little puppy is trained for this   particular    walk in LIFE… so…  to say “GOOD BYE” is just  one sweet happy  kiss after another… and when you kiss in the  neck area as seen in this  PHOTO – – it is probably  tickling DENNY – –  and the little  puppy … just LOVES  hearing DENNY laugh!

“Remembering Denny’s Million-Dollar-Smile!”

When you take time to remember someone – – WHAT is the “one” the one most remarkable…  “thing”  – – – that you will always remember with LOVE?

DEN & ME 001

Just looking at this PHOTO… reminds me to let everyone  – –  focus on taking as many PHOTOS as is possible  – – and at all stages of LIFE.  You may be  young and ask, “Why take so many PHOTOS?”  “Why would someone want too!?

There will come a day… when you are older and grey – – and   you  would like to show your children and grand-children  what you looked like when you were young.  When you are seen older looking  – – some white and or grey hair  – – maybe even a little on the “bent over in the back  side” due to operations – – and you no longer move in a hurry – – and all you can say, “There will come a day when you, too  will look and feel like I do, NOW!”

“BUT”…WHEN you can sit down with the youngsters – – and pull out a couple of boxes and or “PHOTO Albums” –  and just take the time for a real “Show and Tell” session – – telling all about  you and what you were doing. The questions will be many…what was the occasion… who is that and is it someone we should know… where are they now… is it possible that we can visit them???

Something even better…  leave a “legacy” of these PHOTOS and with a story … who is in the photo and what they are doing and if at all possible – if there is a way to get in touch with them  – – with the latest of information  – – you never know – you just may have an eager historian in the FAMILY.

In the above PHOTO… my brother DENNY McClarren  came home for “Thanksgiving Holiday leave” – – I had just  brought home…  a large ham – – and just to see if it was a very good ham – – just had to try a couple of slices – – and that is what I have in my hands. But… with the excitement of the HOLIDAY SEASON – – just had to give DENNY a complete up-date of so much news – – and  as I talk and eat  – – DENNY must be thinking – – that with all of this chatter – – he is not  getting a chance to put a word in – – so the best thing to do is just “SMILE” and  his “SMILE” with his beautiful red hair… looking so good – – just lets me carry on.

So this is one PHOTO – – that I am so happy to have… as it always brings back the good ole days – – when the whole wide  world was on track. LOVE DENNY – – up and on his favorite “CLOUD 9!”

“Denny Jr., Daddy and Mommy”

“Happy Birthday DENNY Jr., – – “

This PHOTO of DENNY Jr., is in the back yard of Irene Brady Riley, who is sister to “MOMMY” and our Aunt – – who lived on Ashland Avenue,  North Saint Louis, Missouri…just on the other side of “Fairgrounds Park” from where we lived. In those days if you did not have an automobile…you could easily walk…and it did mot take you forever to get….where ever you wanted to be.

In all of the PHOTOS…that I have…the above PHOTO is the only PHOTO where one of us children is taken with …MOMMY and DADDY. I am a year older than DENNY… and have PHOTOS with of myself with either my DAD or Aunt Irene in her back yard …but none of two adults or MOMMY and DADDY together with me?

Denny was very LUCKY…He was the first boy…and  a “JUNIOR” and called “JUNIOR” by the Grand-parents and most of the relatives. What I always LOVED…was the beautiful RED HAIR…and FRECKLES…everybody thought he always looked good as he always… took care to put his best foot forward . Denny was always there with a HELPING HAND…he was not afraid to get his hands dirty – he could take a vehicle apart  and put it together… NOW …working better than ever.

We all miss little DENNY Jr. – – but we know he is enjoying HEAVEN…and we will all meet again…in eternity!

“LOOK!” “WHAT I FOUND!”

img069

If you can remember what  “MEN” worn… when you see “Knickerbockers” …you know that  this PHOTO…is a real TREASURE…just for age  of PHOTO…but most importantly the people on the PHOTO…never looked so good…even with the old Knickerbockers???

In the photo …that is my  younger… brother, DENNY and  MELBA MICHAUD… and standing behind them is the bike… that my FATHER finally brought out to the GERMAN  Saint Vincent ORPHANAGE… and of course …everyone wanted to ride it.

Melba was in the same grade as I was and we were good friends and also at least a year older  than my brother DENNY. As I  am thinking back to the time that this photo was taken, by me – – Melba and her sisters  and a brother …came to live at the Orphanage some years after  my brothers and I … came to the  Orphanage… and then… Melba and her sisters and brother left maybe a year or two before I graduated from the eighth grade and then left.

When I look through… some of these old photos… some of the girls I knew back then…I often think of as… FAMILY…and at this time of the year …you get to wondering HOW they are …and WHAT they are doing…hopefully… they are all  still alive and all doing well???  So… to all of  my “Orphan Family”  “Merry Christmas” – – ——HAPPY HOLIDAYS  and  wishing you all the best of everything in this coming NEW YEAR 2016!       DV

“Denny …HOME for the HOLIDAYS…”

img067

Just found this old PHOTO…of Denny and ME…only wish that it was not damaged…but when one travels to Florida and back again… some tines “good care” is  not  thought of…for  the wonderful  “PHOTOS” that keep us looking…so … good…forever!

Those were the days…when I just LOVED  “HATS”… and nothing better…than to try  on… my younger brother, Denny’s ARMY dress hat. The Government sure  can make you feel PROUD…when you have the right hat  on!

On the table in front of us… is one of the KREY PACKING Company’s… finest HAM’s…best eating…makes a terrific sandwich! For the HOLIDAYS…the one thing that we all did like to have available for company…would  be a good HOLIDAY  HAM…and all the sides…so easy to dish up…and just sit back and have good times  remembering   and …catching up…on who did what…and where???

“HAPPY HOLIDAYS!”
