“Father Ryan and Ladies of the Church…”

img050

The above photo is …Irene Riley – Father Ryan – Agnes Callahan

Our Aunt Irene Riley and our very good friend of the FAMILY, Mrs. Agnes Callahan would travel to different parts of these United States – – and some of their travel would take them to Arizona – – namely Santa Fe – – with lots of places  to visit  – – having FRIENDS that lived in ARIZONA – always a nice place to stay – – and then so many places to visit – – as we have lots of photos …showing all the amusements  – – where they spent hours enjoying all that there was to enjoy.

Since Irene and Agnes have “HATS” on … would indicate they were to Church earlier  – – or maybe they will be going later – – –  and  or on a tour with  – Father Ryan… as the tour guide.

Since Irene and Agnes have “HATS” on … this could be a day that started out with MASS and or there could have been a tour to take – – that included visiting a new CHURCH and or a very old MISSION that was founded in he 1800’s – – as we all enjoy visiting and seeing the way things were in the discovering of new territories  in our south WESTERN STATES –  – – the way things were  – – and now the new and modern ways – – that make for our Lives to be so much easier…than our  first ancestors had to learn …as they traveled WEST by WAGON TRAIN  – – with each mile traveled was made with mountains of hardship…all along the way.

People back then were strongly “self-disciplined” – – – and received their true guidance  and vision to do what they needed to  do… in getting the WEST opened up for all of us…to follow – – they were not afraid to pray …and seek divine guidance from the Almighty Yahweh!   DV

“Good Grief…Good Gravy!”

“Can you believe one more PHOTO…from way back and when… –   but these ladies have been waiting for ever…for someone to take a look… and see “WHO” was  “WHO” – – when the “CARD PLAYING CLUB” was first started – – and they never guessed…that they would last…  as long as they did???”

img049

Looks like our Aunt Irene Riley – – top and left on this photo….

This photo should be with those… posted yesterday… – but since… this is the last of the “CARD PLAYING CLUB”  ladies photo’s  – – just wanted to let the “CARD PLAYERS”  rest for awhile – – have other old photos to post – some are FAMILY… and some of the photos are  made by high price photographers – but…since no one wanted to write on the photo  – – who these are – – will have to show  “Ancestors” and maybe someone  will see and be able to identify for us???

“Could this be early…1920’s??”

img046

Young LADIES…Is it the dress or the shoes …that makes you think – that this could be early 1920’s??

There is a check mark…on the left of this photo…indicating that the young lady on the left is… Aunt Irene Riley? So…if you do not think that this is Irene – – how do you like… the young lady …that is fourth from the left…and we can only see her head…and not even much of that??? But … we were thinking that maybe this could also show Aunt Irene as she  might  have looked… that is the lady on the left  – – and under the check mark…when she was expecting little BERNIE???

The reason for this guess is… the LADIES are wearing summer dresses – – and little BERNIE…was born in the month of SEPTEMBER.  I do not have the year …at my finger tips  that little BERNIE was born  – – but when I look it up – it will be added to this  writing – just so we can have a year for these fancy dresses that the “CARD PLAYING CLUB” Ladies are wearing. No loose ends…

img047

This photo looks as if it was taken on the same day as the above photo. There is an “X”  on the skirt of the dress of our Aunt Irene Riley. This “CARD PLAYING CLUB”  sure  does have a good mix of ladies… since this “CLUB” of ladies must get along so very well – – as you can see …from the photos that  were found in  an old shoe box – –  these photos have covered a good many years. Only wish that I knew the names of more of the ladies – – as these ladies have what it takes… they can  play cards and  also  have a variety of  monthly meetings over  the years – each  of the ladies hosting the whole group of ladies at their house – – providing eats and prizes …for the “Card Playing Club”…WINNERS!

“How do you like that vehicle in the back ground??”  “I’ll bet… that there is someone around – –  that just may know the make and model…and even the year???”

“Everybody is ready to PLAY CARDS…”

“Does  your “Card Playing Club” take time out… to pose for PHOTOS?”

Our… Aunt Irene C. Riley is  the lady in the “WHITE DRESS”  – sitting on the left of this Photo…and the lady next to her… is our good friend, Mrs. Agnes Callahan – – and she does not look too well. This could be the year that  – – Mrs. Agnes Callahan almost died – – but our Aunt Irene had made a visit to her house and was able to save Mrs. Callahan’s life. Aunt Irene had taken the RED CROSS COURSE and was able to do almost anything – and was not afraid to get her hands dirty or bloody in the attempt to keep her good friend alive!

The best thing about having a “GOOD FRIEND” – – is to have that FRIEND –  – show up when you really need her – and nothing will stand in her way of saving your LIFE…if that is what is needed – no matter how hard the job or whatever the obstacles – that you need to over come the situation.

Many years before…when Aunt Irene needed surgery to save her LIFE…and since it was an operation – – that did not look like it would really solve the problem…our good friend Mrs. Callahan made a trip to “LOURDES”  – to get some of the BLESSED WATER  – – and brought it back just for Aunt Irene… – and would you believe… that holy and BLESSED WATER is what made all the difference in the saving of Aunt Irene’s LIFE!

When you can save a friend’s LIFE… You have a true FRIEND…and forever! I am guessing… that all of these LADIES…in the “CARD PLAYING CLUB”  were all very good friends – – and all were there whenever  and forever …always available and ready to help…in what way they are needed!

“Aunt Irene and the Card Playing Club”

img043

Aunt Irene and her  “Card Playing Club” sure do have a relaxed and easy going time…when they pose for pictures.

img044

Looks like these ladies of  the “Card Playing Club” decided to take their chairs and …pose  with more smiles – at a better location – – maybe on the other side of the house???

The “caret marks” have been on the photo …to indicate our Aunt Irene C. Riley.

Looking at these photos… I’m trying to figure out what  “YEAR”  this could be??? Aunt Irene is on the heavy side – and so much more than I can remember –  – – so this year could be late 1939 or 1940??? “What do you think???”

Just looking at the “HAIR-STYLE” – – seems that all the ladies like to wear a “HAIR-NET” – either to keep loose hairs out of the food – – – or maybe they go the the “BEAUTY” parlor …and do not want the hair to get messed up in any thing that would blow or disturb  the   Hair-set  – – until the next appointment time… to get it all washed out and re-set???

“On the Backward ROAD…”

img042

Catching up…with the days before… the DAYS…that we do not even remember …they are so long ago!

That  “caret  mark” at the bottom of the photo is to indicate –  our Aunt Irene C. Riley – – she is the second lady from the left.
