“Bird’s Paradise”
Do you have a favorite “bird” that you like? We have a crimson male “Cardinal” – that has moved in to our backyard – rent free! With all of the brushy wood area just behind some thick shrubbery and the most beautiful of “Dogwood” trees – there is also a Mulberry tree and an evergreen cone-berry tree surrounding the “Purple Martin” house – occupied all year round!
When I am on the telephone and have the doors and window s open, usually I am asked if I have “Birds?” You can hear all the different birds taking time to talk and tell everybody just exactly what is going on in this neighborhood. I have tried putting my two-cents worth into their conversation – sometimes it seems as though I am in on the “game?”
One day, this most beautiful male “Cardinal” landed on my porch rail and just looked into the window to where I was seated and sang a few “notes” to his mate in the tree area! He did not seem to be afraid of me – watching and just did a little hip -hop along and on to the side rail and around a post and then down onto a near-by flower pot. He must have been talking to his mate – telling her that he had found a “gold-mine” of stuff for their nest!
Each day, my “Cardinal friend” would come to visit me and do his recycle through the stuff he was finding on the porch! Just the male comes and visits and came and sat on the porch rail, while my visiting nurse was here. Made quite an impression on her that I was “friends with the birds.”
The birds do so much “chirping” and then like “lightning” take off and “zoom” across the yard as if they are headed in to “Home Plate!”
I am lucky to have my own “Cardinal ball team” playing in the back yard and they have “youngsters” getting ready to keep the “games” going!
