The Goat is eating my Shirt!

img117

Lee Aldrich and cousin, Ralph Stanley went  into the “Small Animal” area to feed the  goats and other small animals   –  as  you can see this “Goat”  likes eating  “Shirt material”  – instead of the big bottles of milk the children  were feeding to the animals.

This is one of the many trips that we took the children to visit the “Saint Louis ZOO”  when we would come  up to Saint Louis for a month’s Vacation Time  –  we would drive from,  Ft. Lauderdale, Florida – every year as we visited other places in the States that we would drive through – so that our drive up and back down were always interesting!

“Master Chefs at the Grill!”

img053

Could not leave out a picture of the “Master Chefs” – it takes all  “hands on deck”  to produce a wonderful meal at a Family Picnic – as you can see Ralph Stanley at the Grill. Ralph is also the “Entertainment”  – he is a real  “Comic” – all kinds of jokes and he can change his voice to match most of the important people – the ones you love to hear – he does a superb impression – I just don’t know how one can do so many different voices – we all enjoyed all he does!

Harry Aldrich  is holding a  “cold-one”  in his right hand – probably to pour a little extra flavour on the barbecue for that  just perfection in “taste”  everyone wants  –  and that ‘s Lee Aldrich leaning on the car and just passing on all the news of everything we have been doing in Florida.  We were the “LUCKY” ones to have families who have the time to share – their time  and hospitality with us each year as  we would drive to  Saint Louis from Florida!

June – Time for a Picnic

img052

Every year – in June we would come to Missouri  from Florida – to visit with all our “northern families” – and one of the first “family get-to- gsthers” would be  for a PICNIC!  Someone has this property on a lake and plenty of space for all those who want to fish  – and plenty of water for those who want to swim – and plenty of tables for the food to be set-up on and more tables to sit  comfortably  and eat – as you can see in this photo some of the kids are  ready to start checking out their favorite foods – before they are all gone?

At this table in the black swim-suit is Cathy Stanley and looks like her children are helping her  and with “water” so close  – she is also  able to keep an eye on the little girls. In the dress is Catherine Scott Aldrich, wife of Harry Aldrich  (Aldrich Roofing Co. ) – and Harry,  and Ralph Stanley and Lee Aldrich – are at the Bar-B-Que Pit  – doing a  “perfect job”  of making sure all the meat is going to be what they call “Saint Louis Finest” – or better said “Finger-lickin’ good!” – My job taking pictures – because someday  – not known then – for a time in  the distant future – I’m letting the whoe -wide -world  see what it used to be like – back in the day – when we were young and travelling!
