It is a “#9” Day!
Is this a “Good Day” or what? What did we say when we were kids- #9 riding on Chicago Line!? Today – that still sounds good, but have no idea what children are thinking – when jumping rope and keeping time with a lot of fast-pace – sing-song verses. All quickly forgotten when entering into the teens.
Remembering hearing when as a youngster – “youth is wasted on the young” – the only thing I can think of – that – that means to me today – I just don’t have the strength of “Sampson” to do the things that need to be done today? When I was young and had so much strength – I hate to say it – but did waste it – not doing the more important things in “Life!”
If only we could inspire the younger generations with more understanding of this “Life” – as it will be unfolding, and just exactly what they will need, and at what age – so as to have a “Vision” – a – “Goal” always working toward and fully committed to accomplish. So, that and after the “Half-way Mark” – one can see the “Prize” before them! And, ultimately in their hand!
It is a great day to be born on the “9th!”
“Happy Birthday to “Al and ALYSSA” – my Son and Grand-daughter – both born on the same wonderful day – the “9th” of JANUARY!” D.V.

“Cocoa Lovers”
Some one – found me out – only so much “Love” got into my cooking – so one of the “Grandchildren” gave me a Lovely Box of chocolates and fancy spices , with a booklet of recipes, to make candy, hot chocolate drinks, cakes and soups.
Cinnamon is a “hot spice” – Today! Everyone is coming up with some new way to use it – and if you follow the “Health and Medical People” It (Cinnamon) will help bring down the numbers for the people with “high blood pressure?” I followed the instructions of mixing two (2) tablespoons of cinnamon with a half a cup of sugar and pouring that mixture into an extra shaker bottle – so now I have my cinnamon shaker bottle ready for a quick shake on my cereal and on the toast and tried some on top of a cup of hot chocolate!
Nutmeg – the fantastic spice, my Mother always had ready to use! My brothers and I were “lucky” to get homemade meals, those were the days you opened up a cookbook and used spices, and Nutmeg and Cinnamon were the top of the line – at our house!
I will be listening to hear if my “grand kids” know the new name for “love” – when they are eating recipes made with the fresh spices – I just received? “Soup” of the day – will be the – “Meal of the day!”
What to first try out for the “Sweet Tooth” maybe a “Cake” or a pan of “Fudge” – while I am checking out the recipes – guess I’ll first make a nice cup of “Hot Chocolate!”

“You are My Sunshine”
When your son is on the road – driving – stops – to call his Mother –“You are my Sunshine – you make me so “Happy” – when skies are gray!” I just felt like a “Million Dollar Baby!”
The sky was gray with a forecast of rain and snow . But, hearing the “Sunshine song”, I was thinking this is the day the “Lord” has made and started fixing a breakfast with eggs!
Looking out the window – I think the “Weather Man” made a mistake, because the Sun is Shinning brightly, here! No left-over snow in the Park and no piles of the white stuff up and down the River banks. The River level is very low – looks like rain is what we need?
Beside the “Sun Shinning”, my son calls back again – driving for hours does require “rest stops” be taken – and what better way to share what you are doing than to call good ole’ Mom! And the best part is to sing a song –“You are my Sunshine – You make me so Happy – You never know “Dear” how much I Love You!” “You make me Happy – Please don’t take my “Sunshine” away!”
I know the words – but this little song is the “Medicine Song” – My Mother sang to me – I sang it to my children and to my grandchildren. Now my children sing to me. So, if I was complaining of not feeling good yesterday? “I feel like a million – Today!”

UP After – DOWN Before!
When is the correct time to put up the Christmas tree and how long should you leave the Christmas tree up? Comments I have heard; regarding children with birthdays within a week of Christmas – feel they got the “short end of the stick!”
Seem like that if the birthday is too close to Christmas – the child is given more clothes for the one occasion , and maybe more toys the other, but, probably would have received much more – had the birthday been near the middle of the year? The money is in a short supply near the end of the year and a birthday – its thumbs down!
Two families I know of – the one young person decided to have his birthday in July, and everything was just fine until he decided to join the Marines. Seems the family had to scramble to find his birth certificate – his birthday was really in December and no one knew? The other, his birthday was the 24th of December and in all his young years he received less than he thought he should have – he made up for the shortage by making more money than he could ever use and in the end, had no one to leave it all to?
So, with my sons and their birthdays the 5th of December and the other the 9th of January , wanted each to enjoy their birthday party on that date, and Christmas on its date. We all help put up the Christmas tree after the 5th of December, and as fast as possible after – “Little Christmas – January 6th – the Christmas tree came down! The 9th of January is a birthday party date, and without a sign of Christmas! Everybody is Happy!

Grandma’s Making a Surprise!
“What are you making, Grandma?” “Looks like something special?” “It is something – that I think everyone can use and since I have some extra colorful material – thought I would run a few of these off – while sitting here at the sewing machine.”
“Can I help?” “No thanks!” – “because one will be for you and these are to be surprises!” “Surprises for what?” “Well, you know that the “Three Wise Men ” – did not show up immediately on “Christmas. when Jesus was born” they may have shown up a year or two later, and some people celebrate “Little Christmas” on the 6th of January, since they arrived so much later. So, just for fun, when we all get together this Sunday the 6th — thought it would be something special to be able to give every one a hand- made and usable gift? – What do you think about a “Little Christmas party” – something to think about, and still a part of the “Christmas Story” – that, not too many people take the time to pass on?”
“I’m glad you told me – now I can do something also, and that way, we will all enjoy our get together, and have even more fun with the surprise. Is there anything that, I can bring or do to help?” “Nothing I can think of?” “I appreciate your offer to help, but let’s just plan, for a fun time for all!” D.V.

Rejoice and Be Glad, Today!
This is the day the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad, PS.118:24! And, would you believe – Today the Sun is shinning brightly on the sparkling snow – no wind at all – peace and quiet – looks like this “world is standing still” for its picture to be taken!
That PS.118:24 wording is on the inside of the egg carton, and for years “Grandma” does need to use a magnifier to read small print . This was a real “Discovery” – to start the “Day” with a small prayer. Its right there – just have to read it – to start the “Day” properly! Most mornings start with “eggs” and what a “good habit” to get into – a Bible verse a day.
We do need to start checking the carton and wrapper and all the attached paper work with our consumable merchandise – its better to know what you are using before its too late – and its never too late to bless the companies and corporations for providing the best quality items needed to keep “America” strong!
To the “Egg Industry” my “Thanks” for starting my “Day with a wish for gladness and joy!
After some time , I did call the “Egg Carton Provider” just to say “Thanks” for giving me an inspirational message, and that I hope that their Company is well blessed! My wish was for them to pass my thoughts on to all the employees for a job well done. I’m guessing they never received a call about something like that?
