“As One Horse to Another…”

“Shadow – I just want you to know  –  that I really appreciate   your  being right…by my side!” “You know that when  – My Mother , Valentine died – I was really afraid   to be without her and  was wondering if  there would  be – – anybody  –  to really take a liking to me – as I am kinda  – on the “bossy” side  –  and most of the animals here do not like  ‘others’   and also – those who are – –  younger “bossy” animals?”  “What I am trying to say – is that  – you seem to tag-a-long with me –   all the time – and you don’t’ seem to mind me giving out with the orders?”

“Digger  – I like it that you like me  – and,  your giving me orders – is just “OKAY” – – because when our owner Darlene came to the ranch where I was – –  I could hear her tell the owner  – that  – she needed a very  young horse to grow up with her little baby “Digger” – who just  lost his “MOTHER” – and she was wanting someone  – who would act  almost like a sister  to her little “DIGGER!”  “So, – If you do not mind me following you around and being at your  side  – almost   – all the time – ‘I’m just tickled PINK’ – to be your very best FRIEND!”

“Shadow – how about us  meandering over and see what is  in the feed basket for tonight?’ Looks like a few of the other horses are heading over – so we may as well be in line – and see who gets  extra  – special  treatment  tonight???”   “I just love when –  Lee our owner –  gets back from being on the road as he always likes to play with each of us – and that’s something that they did not do at the other ranch – where I was – I just  love people  – the ones that LOVE me back!”

“Rain-Bow” is my name!

img173

“Spring Time” is  just around the corner  and when you look at the above photo – you are looking at Miss Rain-Bow born on April 4th, 2006.”Valentine” is the Mother’s name and on the birth of “RAIN-BOW” – there was the biggest “RAIN-BOW” in the sky and it was the most beautiful of days  for a little filly to be born!

Just looking at this photograph – you would almost think that someone has  just painted this master-piece, Just look at the way the colors – – just blend into each other – just the way the colors would look if you were painting  on the canvas – with a bushy paintbrush?? The colors on this canvas are exactly done for the purpose  of the Almighty Creator – who saw fit to have another beautiful animal give birth to a very beautiful baby  – just so  the proud owner of this wonderful event could see by all the wonderful colors in the sky  – the baby filly’s name should be  “RAIN-Bow” – and so – we get to enjoy some of the wonders that are found in little areas – that we might call –  ” a little piece of Heaven!”

Thank you  – Darlene  – for sharing some of the gifts – that we receive from our Creator!

“When it SNOWS” – It really “SNOWS!”

img172

“Before I get started – that is to tell you all… – why I called all of my “SUNSET FRIENDS” over …  – “FIDO”  – you are sitting on my tail!”

“When… “FIDO” – can get his “bottom” off my tail –  –  I want to take you guys over to a new place – that I was able to find for us tonight!”  “You see that “SNOW” started coming down last evening – and it is still coming down – and it looks like –   many of our “FRIENDS” – –  that hang out  in “SUNSET PARK”   – who do not  have a warm place to bed  down – – for this night  – just might freeze  in  all this cold stuff!”

“Sylvester  – ” What do you think about that big “MOON” – it is so bright  – it’s almost  as bright as the “SUN” – we sure won’t get lost trying to follow you  – to your   new  “HIDE-OUT?”

“Does anybody have an  idea – as to what the “FLYER” is doing  – just flying in circles, up there – –  – is   this the night  when everybody is going  to have to run for cover – when that  “FLYER” decides to come down, here???”

Grandma receives “BEST GIFT” from Grandson!

To all the “Grandmas” in the world – say THANKS to your GRAND-children” – “Grand-children” are the “BEST PEOPLE” in the world. I know – just ask me – I can tell you all about “GRAND-CHILDREN!”

A couple of weeks ago – I had seen an “AD” for a Dust-Pan with handle and attached broom.  I clipped this AD and placed it on the dining room table – no-one noticed – as I have a few other items that also need attention – and everybody – knows that “NOBODY” sees anything – because there are no “nosey” people in the world? – I think that I am the only one – in the world that is in the “nosey” department – that is if I see something different and or out of place – I will make an inquiry – and when you inquire about something – sometimes – some people thinks that – you should keep your “NOSE” to yourself – as they just don’t want my “TWO-Cents” worth of information – their business is not my business???

Well, yesterday, a Tuesday and you know Tuesday is good news day – and it was the best of news day for me! My Grandson, Alan – had taken the AD for the dust pan and broom set – and called me – to be sure that I really wanted this item.  So, I  started to tell my Grandson all about the problems – that I have when trying to bend over to sweep up stuff  – that is on the floor and after so many times of my bending over and picking up – well my back just starts to fall apart – due the surgeries that I have had on my back!

I guess that when I start to tell someone of all the problems that I have – I must sound like  – well what word could I used other than – an “old bag of bones”  – getting older by the minute! But, Alan was telling me that he knows what I need and he will go over to a different store and get a better “dust-pan set” more on the commercial side and better for a longer period of using – without falling apart!

Shortly – after the phone call – my Grandson Alan was at my door and brought in this newer and better “dust-pan and broom set” and it sure did look good! So, today – when I went downstairs to put a load of clothes in the wash machine – I took the dust-pan set with me to give it a try out? I had to give my Grandson Alan a call and tell him what a terrific help it was for me to have this new dust pan set  – and to be able to do – –  a little cleaning up and all without breaking my back in the  trying to do so!

I am so grateful and Thankful for my Grandson Alan – he sure does know what is best for his Grandma – when she needs something to do  – a good clean up  – down in the basement – “THANK – YOU…  ALAN for just being you – you are  so terrific! I am asking for the Almighty to further and always – BLESS YOU – now and forever!”

“Counting your Blessings…”

img171

Click on the above letter from the “PINK SISTERS” on Warne Avenue – Saint Louis, Missouri  –  just so you can read it better in  a size larger.

This letter is addressed to my GRAND-MOTHER, Anne  Smart Brady, a wonderful woman who had the strength to do all of  her own Baking, Cooking and tending to a household of thirteen  (13) – as you know –  my Mother, Marie Brady McClarren  was the 13th and last child!

This letter was  a note of Thanksgiving for Blessings received – as the “PINK SISTERS”  spend all  of their time in prayer  – for all the intentions of all those who wish to request their prayers   – as the more that  we pray for something special – we  will receive that  which  – the Almighty knows that  we may have “NEED” of – It is the needs  we have  – that are answered  – –  our  wants that –  end up in a selfish request –  sometimes – never see the light of day.

The back side of the above note  is an  encouraging   note of  letting Grandma Brady know  – that her and all of  the BRADY  FAMILY will be remembered in CHRISTMAS  BLESSINGS and Prayers for all the intentions of all  their  needs – with a note that they will be praying further –  for Mr Brady’s health and strength to be returned soon .  – This note was signed by “MOTHER M. ROSE”  – as  (your friend in C J )

I am grateful and Thankful that this letter survived all these many years – as I notice that  Mother Rose used the word  “rejoiced” –  I feel that the using the word “JOY” is so much better – than to just say  that you are “HAPPY” for someone. What do you think???

One other thing – I just wanted the world to know that someone that I was praying for – called today to tell me – – that they received an “ALL CLEAR” of cancer  –  which they were being treated far – and they are now feeling so much better with this  good news.  So, all praise  and the glory  – be to the Almighty for prayers that have been answered! Amen.                                                                                                                  DV

Billy Graham seen at Southern Funeral Home

If you are like me – you certainly do not want to be going to the Funeral Home… You want all of your friends and relatives to stay well and alive!

But, with LIFE – DEATH also comes – and when it comes – you sure did not want it to happen to you and your FAMILY …but it did.

In the 1960’s – my husband Lee Aldrich had to have several surgeries due to being shot when he was on the Saint Louis Police Department. Some of the surgeries were in Saint Louis and then after retiring and going to Florida – he still needed more. While in Florida and having one of these surgeries to help him to be able to walk – the Doctor cut some arteries – so that some other better arteries could get the blood to his feet. When I had asked this Doctor what we could expect – he said “Lee has about 5 or 6 months.”

After this surgery and Lee was not doing any better than before this surgery – I was so upset that I blurted out “The Doctor said you only have a couple months to live!”  And I continued, “If I were you – I would call your Saint Louis Doctor and tell him to check your records from down here – and we will go back to Saint Louis!” So, that is what we did. Lee had to have two more surgeries – but since there was  still a small fragment of a bullet near the heart – these surgeries were just getting the best of  LEE – and his health was going downhill,  fast.

We finally moved back to Saint Louis – but we still kept the house in Florida – just in case everything would work out for Lee and evidently – that –  just was not to be. One night, Lee decided to sleep on the sofa – since he had such a bad day  – while I was at work – and he thought that Donny’s bedroom was close by and surly Donny would hear him – that is  and if  he would need  some  help? Lee did not want to wake me, because I had to be at work in the morning. I did hear Lee – so,  I ran down the hall to the living room- he could hardly breathe – so I helped  Lee  – into the wheelchair and rolled him to the kitchen and called the POLICE!

The POLICE Officer that arrived – had an empty oxygen tank – I could not believe what was going on – I was ready to lose my mind. The neighbor heard the Police car come  – –  and came over as they had already knew of our situation and that at any time they would be needed to take care of the younger boys. The ambulance arrived – and Lee and I went to the hospital as fast as possible. After being at the Hospital Emergency Room for about an hour or so, someone came out and said “Lee died!” I’m crying and wanted to know if they did anything at all to save Lee? This Doctor said:  “If – we were able to do anything – Lee would only be a vegetable – you would have to take care of him – the rest of your  and his  LIFE!” And then he added, “You are too young to do it!” You have no idea the misery that I had to go through that night.  It was  so unreal what was happening…  so I  had to find a “PAY PHONE” and then called my brother Tom McClarren – as I was without a car and needed his advice as to what to do… NOW?   Tom told me about the Southern Funeral Home – so I had called them to make all the arrangements. The POLICE Department was called as they would be paying the bills that would  soon  – be coming in?

At the SOUTHERN FUNERAL HOME – they had my husband Lee set up in their largest room – as there would be  – besides  our large FAMILY and FRIENDS – lots  of POLICE OFFICERS and people who knew Lee before I ever met him! There was standing room only of people, and my Mother-in-law Louise Stanley – Vosmeyer- ALDRICH, nearly (90) ninety years of age   – so over excited  – asking me if I knew that –  THE – “BILLY GRAHAM”  – Preacher,  was here to visit her son, Lee?

Well, I knew that Lee had had  lots of FRIENDS – but “BILLY GRAHAM” – no way – where is he???  So, Lee’s MOM took me through the crowd and then – she got close to where my brother TOM was standing – and she pointed to my brother, TOM! I took Louise by the arm and we went over to where my brother,  TOM was talking with friends – and I said “Tom  – you are mistaken as being  “THE ONE AND ONLY” “BILLY GRAHAM” – do you want to say a prayer or two  – this is Lee’s MOM  – and she was so excited that  “BILLY GRAHAM”  came to pray for her son, LEE!
