Valentine Day

Happy Valentine’s Day to all ! This is one day you just  “do not”  want to forget  your extra special someone. Today, everyone is in the  “new school”  with the fingers doing the walking.  No longer are we going to the “specialty shop” for all the fancy cards for every occasion and for every type relative and friend  –  even for the  “dog.”  The “electronic world ” has it all  in the palm of your hand  –  forget old paper and pencil.  The old  “Creative ways”  have all been done away with most of us old “Dinosaurs.” Our old ways  are as extinct as our old bones are getting to feel!

It seems  to me that  in the fast “Today”  –   it would really be nice to pick up  something different than the usual candy and flowers?  Has anyone thought about a Valentine Coffee Cup  – or   drinking  vessel? Everyone has something in their hand  for water or whatever their favorite  refresher is?

So, I am thinking  – something in the hand will always  and every day be a firm reminder that  “someone  Loves You.”  Of course there are a million daily items that could be used for your extra special reminder to the one you want to always remember it’s you and only  “you”  sending  “Love.”

I still have all the “first grader’s supplies” needed to make beautiful pictures and drawings –  so,   as soon as this old senior  “first grader”   gets her    “Act” together   –   My  Love   will be coming Your  Way  –  “Baby.”

Happy Birthday “Tom”

Happy Birthday “Mr. Wonderful” – Tom McClarren!   Since  Tom is the baby  senior citizen   – if you look a couple days back    – you will find pictures of the  “golden oldie trio” – at their finest hour  – by the edge of “Fairground Park Lake,    in North Saint Louis.”

Today  as  Tom  is now up to   ” 73 ”  – it is like going up the steps  – each  child  is just a year apart.  This will  last only till September when everyone  will  start to get a year older?  Maybe even a little better  –  with each additional  year  added on   – to all those  – little  “old” good  “lookers?”

So, here is a wish for all  those who are so  “Lucky”” to have a  “Birthday”  on the “13th”  – this month or any month  –   as you are just so “Lucky to be You!”

Let me explain the “Luck” one may and or may not have.   “YOUR”  Good Fortune is the amount of “Prayers”   – that  – someone has put  into  the  “Bank of Life”  for  those near and dear to them   –  for their    ” Love Ones. ”   The best thing in “Life” is to be  “Loved” – and  by someone near  and  dear to you!

May Almighty God, richly bless “Tom” and all his family  –  today  – tomorrow  –  and always  –  forever more!

Remembering “Stella”

February 11th reminds me of the Conformation  Name  “Bernadette”   that I took after seeing the movie, ‘Somg of Bernadette.’ In the mid 1940’s  and in the 3rd or 4th grade, my friend, Stella M. Santoyo, and class mate took the name, Bernadette, when we were confirmed.

When we were in the German St. Vincent’s Orphanage,  generally, to celebrate a holiday , a movie would be shown in the auditorium for all the Nuns and Children. On one occasion, the movie “Song of Bernadette” was shown. At that time my friend Stella, and I  having really found a real meaning in this particular  movie  and the life story of Bernadette – just had to take that name. Everyone to be confirmed were reading about the different names of the “Saints”  and trying to find out  as much as possible to see if the name and their story would be something to try focusing  our own lives on?

We also, Stella and I  were very good friends, still remember her birth date of June 6th, and her number was #90 and my number was #91.  We both dressed as  “Indian maidens” in a parade we were in,  and if any prizes were to be given out we would have been “Top Winners”.  We were both good friends of  Sister Seraphine and since she liked us so well, Stella and I got the first choice to pick from all the new hats for Easter .  Some wonderful benefactor who should surely receive lots of extra prayers of  “Thanks.”
I saw the movie, Song of Bernadette,  again,  not too long ago and I really think more people should see it. Every chance I see that this movie is on one of the 1940 era – golden oldie’s   –   re runs – there   ” I ”   am  –      remembering!

Help the Unwanted!

No cats today.  I wonder if the bad weather we just had  –  has  kept the poor  dropped off cats from traveling around their regular  “Friend’s House”  for a free meal? When you have a  “friendly cat” stop by to see  if there is the possibility of a free meal on the run  –  and then  the  “Royal Queen” does not stop by  –  you begin to wonder  – “did she make it through the night?”

Does the family that had this poor cat  –  miss her? Could they just give up a family member so easy?  Were there   small  children in the household –  that thought that they had a friend and now  – no more friend?  What was the story given the children when their favorite friend was no  longer to be found?  Is the “world situation” so bad today –  that we must  just drop off  some part of the family  –  in the park?  Will  the older family members be next  –  to just leave somewhere  – and forget?

It wold be nice if I had a very large place where  I could have furnished living quarters   for the elderly,   that no one wants, and  the facilities for  babies  and  the necessary people that could care for them so that  no one would have to have an abortion. And, a special place for the small animals that a family must have for a while  –  and so soon have a change of mind and just drop off.

For goodness sake’s  alive   –  doesn’t anybody have feelings anymore?

Happy New Year!

“Happy New Year”  to all my friends and relatives!  This is the year of the  “Snake” and what a year this can be if you are not prepared?  From the little I read and hear about the Chinese Astrology  – it is a good idea  to check out your environment.

To help your self be aware of where you are and what you are doing, take time to move different things around.  Depending on what  your age and what you want to accomplish –  be ready for all kinds of change. “Snake” years  have in the past brought about some real disasters and if  each person takes on a little extra care  in the home and business life –  you will find that  you are a winner around this time next year.

Move a few personal things,      from this room to another space in your home or business and    throw in a little splash of “red” one of the   colors   –  that if  put in the   right spot will enhance relationships!

Have a safe and “Happy New Year”  and let your subconscious  keep you on your toes!

“Friend” Returns

A “Friend”  returned today! Yesterday, I was expecting to see the  royal “Queen”  return for  another meal  – but all day and she  was no where to be found? But, today  – around 9:00 am – there she was  sitting in the middle of the back yard, and facing the house – just waiting for me to notice her?

So I immediately grabbed a dish and put some cat food on it and a bowl for water and went to the sliding door  –  drew back the drapes.  And just that fast  the “Queen” ran up the center of the yard  and up the stairs – and was at my feet! She was so happy  that I did not forget  her   – she “Meow and Meow” – checking out what she was getting to eat.  I just left her go right to her eating  and while she ate she would look to the right and  to the left and a little toward the yard – just to be sure of no surprise  attacks by others. So, I thought she might like to try  Tender Bites a “Whiskas'” chicken dinner  –  opened a package and placed this in front of her   – and was I surprised? She  just loved it!

She did what all good “Cats” do , she licked the plate clean. Once again  –  she made a  perimeter check of the porch  – and everything look safe and  clear  –  so the next time I checked on her she was asleep in the box next to the empty dishes.

In winter weather  – why would someone leave a nice cat like this in the park???
