“HAPPY BIRTHDAY…TOMMY….”

img093

“If this PHOTO of baby  – TOMMY – is 76 years old…then little TOMMY…must also be  – 76 years old TODAY!”

Do I look like an ANGEL…with my arms out stretch…just in case the “baby” should look like he will fall…in that case …I better …for sure catch him…or else …you guessed right…it would be my fault…was not doing a perfect job…watching over and protecting the “baby” from all harm!

This PHOTO has traveled all over…from  the original frame …that took a heck of a lot of wear and tear…as this PHOTO was always on display…no matter where we live…you would see this PHOTO. BUT… the new brass frame that I put this PHOTO – – into… when we were living in FLORIDA…. and had side  frames that would come forward and in the closed position all glass area would be protected …from maybe breaking…but  NOW there is a crack in the glass on the one frame…and …I sure am glad that the people in the PHOTO…did not get damaged in all the extra wear and tear of LIFE…while being in this PHOTO???

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY…TOMMY… and many more!!!!!!”

“MY two FAVORITE…BROTHERS”

img092

“NOW…we three…my two brothers and myself… are one year apart…We are NOW…76 years old…77 years old…and 78 years old.  There’s  nothing better than trying to play …”Catch UP”  – – there  will always be a few months…here and there…but .. always  …the  “three musketeers…one for all…and ALL for ONE!”

img094

Getting older and trying to put on a tough look…looks like TOMMY   is holding his breath…I may have said “STAND STILL…DON’T MOVE” – – sure hope that holding your breath…will not hurt???

img095

Just could not forget this  special…time in our LIVES…when I had Denny and TOMMY pose in  my ‘GRADUATION DRESS’ – – since I was going to make some alterations on it – – and I needed a body inside of   “it”  to see  “WHAT CHANGES…should I make”  “HOW DO THEY LOOK?”

img096

This PHOTO is from mid 1940’s – – I am taking this PHOTO.

This is the “BOYS’ side PAVILION and on one of the visiting Sundays’   – – – MOM,  TOMMY,  DENNY, and if you look – – up and over the top of the heads of Denny and Tommy –  you can see my DADDY leaning forward – – giving me directions on how to take this photo. This is one of the oldest of old “BOX” cameras – and of course…it was all “LUCK” if you were able to get a good PHOTO…of anybody???

These PHOTOS are especially for our brains to take us back to a better TIME…considering the conditions of how AMERICA  –  has taken a real nose dive in the way way  that …it used to be… and what we have today.  So if you had good memories in he past…hold on to them…if it is at all possible to make more  good  memories …     for your next generations to follow…do so very carefully…as good memories are important  – at least to me.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY…TOMMY – – and many more…forever!!!”

“It’s NOT…the 13th…yet…”

img091

“HOW… can I get my  “beauty” sleep…If you keep waking me…before the 13th???”

“Some times a “guy” does have to get his rest…and that is what I would like to do!”

I hate to say…but if we do not wake you…. NOW… Your “BIRTHDAY” – – will be gone…over…all gone…it is NOW or never.  It is a little early…but you are too tired and  too hard to wake up…especially when we have so many things for you to do  – – on your BIRTHDAY!

Today is ASH WEDNESDAY…

Well…   AFTER …everyone filled their selves with food and drink…and what the NUNS called “TOM FOOLERY” last night…guess what – – it is now the TIME to repent and FAST for we all have fallen short of what we were taught to do…when we young.

No matter…how old you become…no matter how you try to forget some of the education …you received by the NUNS…all the punishments …the ruler being crossed across the knuckles …half a dozen times or more…those lessons we  just  had to memorize … study until you knew …what was right to do…even in the middle of the night…the ‘BRAIN’  can not hide…  from the truth!

ASH WEDNESDAY was the beginning of the Lent Season…the TIME to learn to do without. And…as I remember as a small girl…in the learning stages of how you do without….here is what the older girls did…and so I just followed what I would watch them do.

We would receive candy or something sweet or even something very nice…but during the TIME the SEASON of not showing how HAPPY you were to receive…You would get for  your self a box of some sort…and all these “GOOD” things would be placed  carefully in that box…for you to enjoy after EASTER. It was very easy for most of us to be the big saver of  “STUFF” – – knowing that someday …you will be able to enjoy…  and since everyone…or at least most of the girls were doing the same thing…you were in your own little heaven…to sit around and enjoy and without even having to share.

Years  later…after I had heard more of this Lent SEASON…and the real purpose – – we sure were doing everything all wrong. What we should have been doing is to not take that which was offered…just to save   ‘it’  for another day. It would have been so much better…if we would have just given these  sweet little morsels to some one…someone who may have needed them or at least was not trying to be a first class hypocrite….a first class fake!

When I think about the stuff we did…a hundred years ago… that is what is seems to be to me… NOW… I guess we all thought that our CREATOR…had no idea of all the terrible things we were doing …  and at the same TIME…being a first class fake… for which there would be a day of reckoning…sooner or later?

TODAY…. ASH WEDNESDAY… is a beginning to get our act together… thinking about  what …we did do and what are we going to do…  NOW…to correct the situation??? It would be nice to get this going as soon as possible… since EASTER…will be here March 27th – – and it could put us onto a better plan  for  living…for the rest of our LIFE!     D.V.

“Mardi Gras” 2016-02-09

img080

Is your work place celebrating “Mardi Gras” and having FUN?   This  aisle  in our work place is called “Bourbon Street” and we …”workers” all pitched in to do our part…to make this seem like you were celebrating…with the largest of crowds…anywhere!

The lady with the cubical next to my  special location on this block…is Jane Amati…and she wanted  a giant of a “JOKER” made to be displayed on the pillar…  just as you see me standing next to…in the above photo. Everybody knows…that just because you want something…does not mean that you are going to get that exact thing…exactly as you want it!

So…with as much bragging as I did in the past…as to what a creative artist my grand-son, Alan is… and the terrific work he does…so inspired with ideas…and  then… since  JANE Amati …right next to me…always listening…came to me , with the question…”If I buy some craft sheets of  colorful art boards…do you think that your grand-son Alan would make a “JOKER” – – suitable enough to be hung on this pillar – – large enough to be seen  by everyone coming and leaving our area???”

I had to take the challenge…I said…”YES”  – “I can not promise…what we will get…but  – I am sure that he will do something …that you will like!”  Well…as you can see…standing next to me…is the best looking “JOKER” that I have ever seen…and made by  my grand-son, Alan!

We had that “JOKER” there …for months…as so many people wanted to see for their selves…what everyone was talking about and having their picture taken with. This was really something to talk about…and we in this department enjoyed …so much so – – that our “Bourbon Street” “Mardi Gras” celebration was just the best…as we would be  having  many  visitors from the other  floors in the   building coming by …just to let us know what  they were  seeing  – – was an authentic looking “Mardi Gras” – and were glad to celebrate with us!
