“What a wonderful day it was today… Saturday the 13th of January – – just so bright and sunny – – and not at all as cold as they forecast ed – – just maybe… PRAYERS for a beautiful day for a “BABY SHOWER” were heard – – and the proof – – it was just so WONDERFUL!”
It is so wonderful… when you take the time to think – – that as busy as we all seem to be… TODAY – – We are all able to mark our calendar with the date and time for a “BABY SHOWER” – – and make it our business to be there – – and on TIME! – – This… was one of those “SHOWERS” that had everything and even some extras – – and everyone that was invited – – did show up and with the house just so full of guests – – the arrangements for food and desserts and even gifts to be “WON” for some very nice prizes – – “OH” – – Can not forget – – one thing different – – when you left the “BABY SHOWER” – – there was a special gift just for each guest to take home – – – – what a wonderful little surprise – – just makes everyone know that they were thought of – – – enough – – to see to it … that they also took home little reminders of the wonderful time that … they spent with the expecting couple – – no one is ever forgotten!
Just LOVE… this little announcement of “It’s a BOY” – – – trailer pulled behind an AIR-Plane – – it has been years and years – – since I have seen this in the … big BLUE SKY – – – guess no one has time for these little bits of extra excrement – – to let the whole wide world know – – when a brand new little “BABY BOY” is born!
The next time you receive an invitation to a “SHOWER” – – be sure to reply – – and go – – to have just as much FUN as I did … TODAY!
If your FAMILY is young enough – – and there is enough LOVE to share with the whole wide wold — – start planning NOW – – to be ready – – make and or create new little items to take to the “BABY SHOWER” – – and plan on having as much FUN as we all can stuff into – – just one little day – – just the MEMORIES of all of the FUN – – to share with all of the next and up-coming generations to come – – as they are all waiting for our invite – –

Over … “Fifty Years ago” this is a PHOTO of the “Broward General Hospital” … ‘newborn baby nursery’ – – – and standing in front of the window to see the “Newborn Babies” is my neighbor, “Mrs. Florence Morgan” facing me… and her sister is looking at my baby on the other side of this window – – and I am so glad to have this PHOTO after all these many years.
Way back then – – the little hand-held phones like everyone has today… ‘except me’ – – never found that I had to have one … because… how many ways of communication does one need… to be found – – – and while I am thinking about it – – we … or at least I should say – Me … that is – I always carried a small note book for all of my appointments… having the dates and time – – and all the information that I needed – – and was always on time – – never late – – and always a record of where and when and what I did – – and that served me – – for all of my working years. Nothing like having a good written record of everything!
“BUT… to get this PHOTO of “baby, Al” – – with our neighbors – – only his “FIRST VISITORS” – – just had to have my husband, Lee bring to the “HOSPITAL” my “Polaroid Camera” – – and in those days this camera – – was – – what a ‘Cell-Phone’ is to-day to those that have them!”
This was Florida — – and your HOSPITAL stay was only three days – – and no “bed pan” service by the “Night Nurse” – – so I called my husband – – told him… that “if they can not bring a “bed pan” – – I may as well be home” – – what services do they think they will provide?
It seems to me that all “HOSPITALS” should provide similar services – – must have been spoiled… by the “HOSPITAL” in “Saint LOUIS” where I had my first son, Lee – – was there for “three weeks” as was my “MOTHER when she delivered me. The first week after delivery was bed rest and getting your body back in to some better shape than just those last few months of carrying all those extra pounds. My first walk to the shower and I had passed out due to too much rest. – – But the next week we receive training in the “Care of taking CARE of the NEWBORN” – – that was regular classes in the HOSPITAL.
The third week… more time spent with the “NEW-BORN” – learning how to diaper baby – – breast-feed or bottle-feed – – depending on your choice – -and giving “BABY” a bath – – and this was in a class room – – and with all of this training – -as a NEW MOTHER – – you knew just exactly what to do when you and “NEW BABY” arrive back home – – and then back to your LIFE as it was – – but… NOW – – how it will be – – and of course there was for those that were going to bottle feed “BABY” classes – – so that when “YOU” – – “NEW MOTHER” will soon have everything running so smoothly – – – – YOU will LOVE being the very best of BEST MOTHERS to your own “NEW-BORN BABY.” D

But the more I learned about my own Echo, the more useful I realized it could be for my mom (and other seniors too!) The voice controls are easy to use, and there are no confusing buttons or screens to navigate. And Alexa, the “voice” of Echo devices, can provide all sorts of useful and helpful information that could help make seniors’ lives easier! And since I know I’m not the only one who worries about their elderly parent(s), I thought I’d share some of my ideas with you today. I think that by the end of this post, you’ll see just how useful the Amazon Echo can be for seniors!
You can set up reminders to take medications at a specific time. Just say, “Alexa, remind me to take my medicine at 8AM every day.” You can set as many reminders as necessary to cover multiple medications or different times of day.
The great thing about having Alexa around is that she never gets tired of answering your questions. Anyone who struggles with their memory can ask, “Alexa, what day is it?” or “Alexa, what time is it?” Alexa will always be happy to give the answers, no matter how many times she’s asked! 🙂
Ever since my dad passed away in November, my siblings and I have been worried about my mom living on her own. She’s very capable and independent, but we still worry about her! Since many of us have Amazon Echo devices in our homes, we decided to buy one to set up in her apartment, too. You can send voice messages between Echo devices, so we thought it would be a fun way to stay in touch with Mom throughout the day.
Another entertainment option that the Echo provides is jokes and riddles! Just say, “Alexa, tell me a joke!”
Use your echo to get information on just about anything. You can say, “Alexa, what’s playing on TV tonight?” or “Alexa, who was the 7th president of the United States?”
The Echo can give you current reports on anything you’re interested in tracking, like traffic, news, sports, stocks, and the weather.
Use the Echo to make a shopping list or a daily to-do list. Just say “Alexa, put milk on my shopping list,” or “Alexa, put ‘do the dishes’ on my to-do list.” Whenever you’re ready to hear the whole list, just ask Alexa to read it out for you (or you can view the list on the Amazon Alexa smartphone app on iOS or Android.)
The Echo gets even more useful when you connect it to your smart home devices. If you have smart home devices like light bulbs, locks, or thermostats, you can control all of them through your Echo. Just say, “Alexa, turn the lights on in the living room,” or “Alexa, set the temperature to 72 degrees.”

Just _ _ LOOK at those BIG SMILES – – we are all ready for the BIRTHDAY CAKE and ICE CREAM – – – we all had to rest after all the good food – – and some had to go back for seconds – – and everyone knows what a slow eater I am- – – I have to keep my mouth shut – – and only listen to everyone – – since I eat so slow – – I hold up everyone else in getting into the “DESSERT” part of the PARTY.
If you live on “GRAND AVENUE” and you heard some loud singing – that was me – – should have had it recorded – – I just love to sing “HAPPY BIRTHDAY” so loud that everyone can hear – – that is the signal for everyone to enjoy what is going on and have as much FUN as we are – – so many good laughs are required for living longer – – that is what the “DOCTOR” told me – – and… that is one order – – I will obey!

When we have special occasions like a “Daddy and Daughter” – – celebrating their “BIRTHDAY” on “January the 9th” – – the very same day each year – – and together – – I would have to think that – – our CREATOR is a very loving and caring FATHER – – to all of HIS CREATIONS – – knowing that this will always be a very special day – – for all the FAMILY and FRIENDS – – to celebrate – – knowing that this is just one of the very best of things… we receive while here on EARTH!

Nothing like having your Photos taken together – – because you both have so much celebrating to do – – – and having PHOTOS taken together – – are good medicine for those that like to see “HAPPY FACES” – – and as often as is possible.

Everything on this EARTH – – has a beginning – – a first start – – or a first step – – a procedure – – maybe we should say – – if you start with this – – and then follow through with that which – – well – – let’s say we did jump through all the “HOOPS” – – and then – – we received a “WHOOPS?”
Let me introduce “Big DADDY O” now called “KING AL” – – due to the fact he is NOW a published author of the book, “KING AL” – – and it is based on facts – – with a story everyone just loves – – so much information – – but the little “baby in this PHOTO” – – flying though the air in the arms of his DADDY, Lee Aldrich – – while we were living in Florida – – received the inspiration to… FLY!
This is the PHOTO of “BABY AL” with “big brother LEE Jr.,” – – that took first place in the hearts of all the FAMILY. Sent … this PHOTO to our “Aunt Irene Riley” – – and she had it blown up – – and passed on to everyone – – thought this PHOTO – – was “TOP of the HEAP” – – just to look at it and think – – what were the thoughts of “Big LEE” – – and … “baby AL” – – holding his hear – – so at tentatively – – to hear all that “BIG BROTHER” had to say.
This next PHOTO of baby “ALYSSA” – – which is “FIRST” daughter of “Big Al” – – made arrangements while they were still babies in HEAVEN – – – – way before there was ever a twinkling in the eyes of their “PARENTS to be” to be in the same “ALDRICH FAMILY” – – and most importantly – – to be born on the same date – – – years a part – – of course… but on the very same day… “JANUARY the 9th.” Now is that some doing – – or what would you call it – – when some “babies in the – – to be born POOL” – – have their eyes on WHO and WHERE and WHY this particular FAMILY – – would be in the place where they would need to be??? – – Is that a “MYSTERY” or what – – and that is why every “BABY ” to be born – – must be given the chance – – with all the LOVE – – to do well here – – with all the rest of the Almighty’s Creatures.
ONLY… the biggest and best smile – – showing all of us the LOVE – – that she has to share with all of us… “LUCKY” members in the FAMILY!
Every “AIR PORT” – – needs a highly and enthusiastic “Receptionist” like you see in this PHOTO – – this is our very own and most talented “ALYSSA… herself” ready at the front desk – – to receive all “PILOTS and GUEST” with a very big smile – – and all of the most important information – – that only an insider like “her-self” can take care of with many big smiles.
The feet up and on the “DESK” – – tells you… “I am FAMILY” – – any one else in such a position – – would be thrown out those lobby doors – – landing on their nose – – and just maybe… face to face… with an in coming AIR PLANE!
