“When a little bit of HEAVEN – Arrives on EARTH”

“THIS is what a little bit of HEAVEN… looks like!”

To see a brand new little  BABY – – that  has just arrived here on our EARTH – –  to look at his face – – I can tell – – that he is still in secret communication with the  “Angels” that  had been at his side – – just to make sure that everything here on EARTH – –  was in preparation to receive an extra special  gift from our Almighty CREATOR.

No doubt about it – – This is a BOY – – and he is wearing his colors – – “BLUE” – – also my favorite color – – since “Sapphire Blue” is for my month of birth – – and to wear the “STAR SAPPHIRE” seems to have a healing effect on its chosen recipient    – – like I say – – there are some things…  I just know!

Image may contain: one or more people, people sitting and indoor

It is wonderful to see a new born  BABY – –  “new LIFE” – – everything ahead – – with the doors  opening each day – – with new and different things to learn about this  new  way of LIFE here on EARTH – – but for TODAY… rest as much as you can… DEAR  LITTLE  BABY – – Each day from NOW on – – will be a new lesson.

“WOW” “What can I say… a NEW LIFE – – so sweet and gentle – – sleeping without a care  and not a worry – –  Our CREATOR makes  marvelous  Creations – – like  only HE can do – – I am grateful and most Thankful that  our little baby boy,  LEX Andrew is here making me a GREAT-GRANDMA – –  sure  hope… that I can qualify for the  position and all that I will need to do – -Help me  to do my best – – each and every day –  – that you provide me with.     D.V.

“Remembering a Good Friend on her BIRTHDAY”

“BIRTHDAY GREETINGS… to VIOLET M. LESSOR”

“Happy Birthday… Violet Lessor…. and many MORE…”

Violet is the lady on the left  – and a  very good friend of the Aldrich Family, Lee, Al, Jill, Alyssa and Jaime – and you know who is in the middle, ME!

This picture was taken as we  were leaving Church  –  as there is a bulletin board on the wall in the foyer or entrance area – and just so you  and or visitors can get to know what some of the people look like and their names  – you will find photos  as well as the above photo  “ours” on display  – that makes it easier for you to have the name of the person or family that you would want to  meet and talk to   – makes for an easy introduction  – – while all the members meet and usually enjoy a breakfast or lurch – depending on the times and what is going on.

This was a very friendly Church  – with members taking part in a lot of the different programs and or teachings which were  made available in the evening hours.  Always lots of activities to keep you active in the Church – and I knew that this was not Violet’s regular Church – but I thought that she would enjoy going with our family and  – if there was ever a time that she would like for us to pick her up – and bring her – that was something that we enjoyed doing.

When  you are going to Church on a regular time frame – I just feel that it is a good idea to check with “Neighbors”  – just to see if there is someone in or around the neighborhood that would also like to attend. So many of our friends and neighbors are senior citizens and no longer drive – and sometimes have no way to attend a Church  – but so very much would like to be included – –  – but are embarrassed to ask for the opportunity to go with you –  – but  would say   “yes”  – – – so fast  – – if ever someone would just  take the time  – to ask them??

When you are talking with friends – – include in the conversation  – some things that you are doing – activity and or Church attending – when and where and how you feel about what you are doing  – then ask the person  that you are talking to – “Would you like to go, sometime??  Then follow up with – “I’d like to take you along with us and if you need – we will pick you up on the way and bring you home?”  Tell them to just think about the Church or  whatever they are interested in – and add. – “If you are not ready right now,  just think about it, here is my phone number – just call me anytime  – the offer  still stands  – for as long as  you want to think about it?”  “OKAY?”    “OKAY!”

*******An Idea for you – – but an old MEMORY for ME!”*******

  – Violet M. Lessor – a very good friend that I knew way back in the 1980s – and one of the things I remember…  surprising her with  – was – having requested … that  the  “WHITE HOUSE”   send to  her an “80th Birthday”  greeting  from the President of the United States!   She was so surprised – – –  that I would take the time to write to the “WHITE HOUSE” – –  – – and then,  when she had called me – – just to let me know – – when this letter came to her – – and from the “PRESIDENT” – –  – it is just a better memory to me… just for having taken the time – she could hardly believe that I  or that  anyone …  WOULD TAKE THE TIME!   How often do we know of someone … making it to their “80’s” – – and that someone should  still remember their BIRTHDAY? – –  just doing something a little different – -but so wonderful– –   just makes living longer – so worthwhile after all is said and done!

(Little acts of random kindness –

really make the day for the recipient!)

“BABYSITTERS” “Something I need to be Updated on”

When it comes to you to finally be a “Great Grandma”  – – and a very long time  – – since you have been into the taking care of a brand NEW BABY – –  sometimes one has to review all the new ways of doing things.

So… in finding this list – – I have to start to read and see – – what is new… to do??? – –
“HOW about YOU – – are you ready to do your share of the BABY-SITTING…too?

Beginning the search for a nanny or babysitter can seem daunting. Establishing a rapport and trust with someone to care for your most precious commodities is no easy task. As a mama who used to be the neighbourhood block babysitter to coming full circle as a woman with her own children on a quest for the best babysitter she could find, take it from me — these are some key questions to ask potential babysitters if you have babies and toddlers.

1. Describe your previous babysitting experiences. I’d love to hear about them!
You want to hire someone with experience, who has at least volunteered working with kids or who has younger siblings. Everyone has to start somewhere, so use your discretion and trust your gut!

2. What is your mode of transportation – how do you plan on getting here?
This one is mainly for the teens, but important to ask the adults too. Some families share a car and not everyone uses a car for their transportation. We set up an arrangement to pick up and drop off our two current babysitters, but this may not work for everyone. It’s important to work out the kinks in the beginning.

3. What are your hobbies and interests?
This will be very telling about what kind of person they are, what sort of things they’ll do with your children, and how comfortable they are doing new things.

4. Have you ever been in an emergency situation? How did you deal with it? Do you have an an adult that you can reach out to if need be?
This is really important if you decide to hire a teenager or someone who doesn’t drive.

5. What are the top three nurturing characteristics that you believe are essential in caring for children?
You’re looking for the magic three: kindness, affection, gentle patience, and flexibility. Okay maybe that’s a bit more than three. Anyone worth their salt won’t be able to resist on expanding on it.

6. How will you respond when one (or all) of my kids has a meltdown? Experiences separation anxiety when we leave? Has a sibling conflict?
These things happen everyday in a household where babies and/or toddlers live. It’s important that a potential new babysitter can expect the unexpected and remain calm, know that these behavioural challenges are a regular part of baby and toddler development and that they have developed some techniques on how to work through them.

7. Describe to me a typical day that you’d have with our kids. What kind of activities would you do without spending any money?
You want to know that TV or other forms of screen-time aren’t their automatic go-to. You want to hear about different outings, crafts, and activities they’ve done with children in their care in the past and what they’d hope to do with your kids in the future.

8. Describe to me what you would do with our children for the day with 50 bucks.
A day at the Science Centre or a trip to the arcade? Off-the-cuff questions will inspire genuine answers.

9. Do you have any health problems or dietary restrictions we should know about?
Since you’re obviously going to stock up on some of their favourite snacks, it’s important to know about these things. Even more important to know if they have health issues that could affect how they care for your children.

10. Describe to me a breakfast, lunch, and dinner that you might serve to our children. What kind of snacks would you give them?
Again, putting them on the spot like this will garner an authentic response! That’s what you want.

11. Do you have any additional training that relates to childcare? Such as first aid/CPR, local babysitting courses, swimming, or driver’s ed?
When I first started babysitting as a teen, I took a course and got my first first aid/CPR training. It’s kind of the gold standard. Don’t feel weird about expecting it or making it a pre-requisite to getting the job with your family.

12. We require three references. Can you provide those? In addition, are you comfortable with me doing a background check?
This is so important and totally warranted. Perhaps not with your 14-year-old neighbour’s daughter, but an adult? I’m gonna be a narcissist here and say HECK YES.

13. Are you a fan of social media? Do you have an Instragram account, Tumblr, or blog?
Essential questions in this day and age. It’s a very personal decision as to what you’re comfortable with having your babysitter share about your kids on the internet and you should know up front if such a thing is even in question.

14. Why do you love working with kids?
An obvious one.

15. Which age group of children are you most comfortable/experienced with?
Some people aren’t comfortable with newborns, for example, or even babies and toddlers. Even though this is usually known before you even get to the interviewing process, it’s always good to get the answers in person too.

16. What sort of things can we do to make you comfortable here with our kids? What are the top three things that you believe make for a good relationship between a babysitter and parent(s)?
It shouldn’t just be all about you!

17. What sort of things have you accomplished that you’re proud of?
An unexpected, introspective question with answers that will hopefully shine more light into their true personality, values, and morals.

18. What do you and your friends do for fun? We’re down with you having one friend over at a time when you babysit, but we ask to meet them first. Are you cool with that?
Obviously this one is geared more towards the teenagers!

19. What kinds of discipline have you administered in the past?
Establish the basics right up front.

20. Can you do overnights?
Yes? Score!

21. How experienced are you with diaper changes, potty training, bathtime, and bedtime routines?
An essential group of baby- and toddler-geared questions that are mandatory!

22. What is your availability and hourly rate?
All cards on the table right up front.

“Remembering favorite SONGS” “Never to forget”

Is your “NAME” attached to a favorite song – –  and that person in your LIFE loved that song so much that you received that “NAME” and every time it was heard on the radio – – they would sing it to you – – with all of  the LOVE  – – that comes only from the “HEART” when sung with LOVE!

In my case the song “Maria Elena” or in  English… “Mary Ellen” – – that is me… and my MOTHER would sing that song – – with so much LOVE – – that I can almost still sing it – – with  all the power I can muster – – to make it sound good to me – – and what it sounds like to someone  else – – well I never bother to ask.

So… I collected the words – – so everyone that would like to sing the song can follow – – as I also have the music following. Try singing this song – – see if  you also like the words and music – – and I will be listening – – to hear this song – – as I just LOVE it!

Maria Elena you’re the answer to a prayer
Maria Elena can’t you see how much I care
To me your voice is like the echo of a sigh
And when you’re near my heart
          Can’t speak above a sigh
Maria Elena say we two will never part
Maria Elena take me to your heart
A love like mine is great enough for two
To share this love is really all I ask of you

When the music starts and  “JERRY VALE” sings  “MARIA ELENA” – – you might do like me – – start singing – – and dancing around the room – – at my age…  good exercise for the voice – – and to get these old bones moving smoothly – – “WOW” – –  “Miracles  still work in  mysterious ways – – for us SENIOR CITIZENS” – –  just have to add.. “Think young… STAY YOUNG!”

This is one of the songs my husband, Lee would sing to me – – his voice was like “DEAN MARTIN” – – I have him on tape from way back and when – – but when he would sing  “When I get too old to remember” – – “WOW” – – It was just “HEAVENLY to HEAR”  – – Lee was older than me – – but his voice was terrific – – and every year we would drive to Florida from Missouri and back – – and between singing  Lee would play the  “HARMONICA” and the kids and I would sing – – we always had so much FUN on our long driving trips – – they were always FUN – – all the way!

MUSIC is one of the things … that I feel that all children should  get  from the start – – day one – – sing to the baby with all the LOVE – –  you can muster into  the words – – and add music as you are dancing with “BABY” in your arms – – and even when you are rocking  “BABY” to sleep and or whatever – – good MUSIC and SONG – throughout LIFE – – is a LIFE of LOVE!     D.V.

“Extra SPECIAL Happenings in MARCH 2018”

“EXTRA and SPECIAL… in and above the… March Special Days”

Have a picture of my  Grand-daughter, Alyssa    –she is giving “blood”  on her  “Lunch”  Hour  – and with the big smile – you can see she is enjoying  that she is able  to  give the best gift – one’s own blood to save another’s LIFE!

March is the Red Cross Month – and…  I am so proud of Alyssa for caring enough to give her own blood – and without having been, even asked to do so.

When Alyssa, e-mailed this photo over to me – it was the best picture to have received – I just had to make a couple of copies  – immediately!

I used to give blood years ago and even did RED CROSS volunteer work for the grade school that my sons were attending – so you know how long ago that was.

There came a time- when  my blood decided to change. When they do those tests  to be sure you have enough iron – my blood would not do the drop and spin test  – and then they just could not get my blood to fill up the require amount needed for a successful donation?

Looks like I needed to take iron supplements – and still have to take my vitamins.

Alyssa giving blood

So… the extra-special NEWS – –

Alyssa  and her husband Andy are expecting their first child – – which will  make me  – – a GREAT-GRANDMA – – and so  with that  great NEWS – –  it looks like it could be any day – – but…  then one never knows… exactly  – – the date and time – – when   this special event will happen. – –  I think that while the baby  is  so close to being on his way – – soon – – –  but … there is still communication  going on with our CREATOR  – – and between the  two of them – – the correct timing will be here – – no mater what else happens – – we just leave the details to the “ONE” that creates us to decide – – what – when –  where – – and the…  HOW and WHY –  – – gives us something to PRAY about – – that all works out well – – for all concerned.

So… in my book – – the month of MARCH will always be a very extra-special month – – for me!  D.V.

“Just one other  – Little  – –  reminder and note for MARCH”

March 1st…  was Peanut Butter Lover’s Day! Without knowing that – last weekend I had made Peanut Butter Cookies – and they were the best. It was only in the last year that I had decided to try “Peanut Butter” – all the years that my sons were having “Peanut Butter” sandwiches when they were in grade school – I just could not even think  to eat it. And, to put Grape Jelly on the same sandwich – that was too much for me – but now I just love “Peanut Butter” on one slice of toast and then on another slice of toast, I’ll put some jelly. I cut each slice of toast into four pieces and will eat one little square of peanut butter and then one little square of the jelly toast. It sounds odd – but at least, that’s the best way for  me to enjoy the favorite sandwich of everyone … and NOW for ME, too!

“If you are as “OLD” as “ME” – Remember the GOOD OLE DAYS”

Now here is something to think about!!   *************

“Can You Guess How Old This Man Is?”

Stay with this — the answer is at the end.
It may blow you away.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandfather about current events.

The grandson asked his grandfather what he thought about the shootings at schools, the computer age, and just things in general.

The Grandfather replied, “Well, let me think a minute, I was born before:
‘television
‘penicillin
‘polio shots
‘frozen foods
‘Xerox
‘contact lenses
‘Frisbees and
‘the pill

There were no:
‘credit cards
‘laser beams or
‘ball-point pens

Man had not invented:
‘pantyhose
‘air conditioners
‘dishwashers
‘clothes dryers
‘and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and
‘space travel was only in Flash Gordon books.

Your Grandmother and I got married first,… and then lived together..

Every family had a father and a mother. Until I was 25, I called every woman older than me, “mam”. And after I turned 25, I still called policemen and every man with a title, “Sir”.

We were before gay-rights, computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.

Our lives were governed by the Bible, good judgment, and common sense. We were taught to know the difference between right and wrong and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.

Serving your country was a privilege; living in this country was a bigger privilege.. We thought fast food was eating half a biscuit while running to catch the school bus

Having a meaningful relationship meant getting along with your cousins.

Draft dodgers were those who closed front doors as the evening breeze started.

Time-sharing meant time the family spent together in the evenings and weekends-not purchasing condominiums.

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CDs, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings

We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny, and the President’s speeches on our radios. And I don’t ever remember any kid blowing his brains out listening to Tommy Dorsey.

If you saw anything with ‘Made in Japan ‘ on it, it was junk.

The term ‘making out’ referred to how you did on your school exam….

Pizza Hut, McDonald’s, and instant coffee were unheard of.

We had 5 &10-cent stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents. Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar, and a Pepsi were all a nickel. And if you didn’t want to splurge, you could spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.

You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600, … but who could afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.

In my day:
‘”grass” was mowed,
‘”coke” was a cold drink,
‘”pot” was something your mother cooked in and
‘”rock music” was your grandmother’s lullaby.
‘”Aids” were helpers in the Principal’s office,
‘”chip” meant a piece of wood,
‘”hardware” was found in a hardware store and
‘”software” wasn’t even a word.

And we were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.

How old do you think I am?

I bet you have this old man in mind…you are in for a shock!

Read on to see — pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time.

Are you ready  ???

This man would be 70 years old today.

71 years ago was 1947.

GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT… PASS THIS ONTO THE OLD ONES, THE YOUNGER GENERATION WOULD NOT UNDERSTAND.
