“Receive your … PRESENT…TODAY”

When you express gratitude everyday, you give yourself the gift of experiencing the joy of gratitude everyday. Give yourself that gift today!

Hal Elrod

You are a steward of every moment, of every talent, of every gift, of every resource that God has given you. Chose wisely what you do today!

Paul Washer

Without the gift of flowers and the infinite diversity of their fruits, man and bird, if they had continued to exist at all, would be today unrecognizable.

Loren Eiseley

I consider my musical ability to be a gift from the Creator. It’s not that I try to work hard or nothing like that, it’s a gift, it was given to me, and I appreciate it.

Erykah Badu

I love what I do, and I just remember that every breath and every moment is a gift and it can be taken away at any time, so I want to appreciate it and be grateful for it while it’s here.

Alyson Stoner

Blessed are they who have the gift of making friends, for it is one of God’s best gifts. It involves many things, but above all, the power of going out of one’s self, and appreciating whatever is noble and loving in another.

Thomas Hughes

Family is a unique gift that needs to be appreciated and treasured, even when they’re driving you crazy. As much as they make you mad, interrupt you, annoy you, curse at you, try to control you, these are the people who know you the best and who love you.

Jenna Morasca

What if you gave someone a gift, and they neglected to thank you for it – would you be likely to give them another? Life is the same way. In order to attract more of the blessings that life has to offer, you must truly appreciate what you already have.

“Movie – Harry and SNOWMAN”

“Harry and Snowman”- – Documentary *********

My brother, Tom sent to me a link to watch this movie, “Harry and Snowman” – – guessing that since my sons when they were little wanted a pony – – which I did buy – – but where we were living  – – you could not have – – so … had to sell our home and find a “FARM” type of property – – where we were able to have horses.

Before I just went out and bought  a horse – – had to be sure that my sons would be able to ride a horse – – so… we went several days a week – – and for weeks  – – my sons took  hours of time for horse-back riding lessons. Only then did  start looking to purchase a horse and then a second horse – – so they could ride together. But the most important part of this horse-back riding – – was the lessons in learning to care for a horse – – which my husband and I took  at the “Meramec  Community College”  – – so that with this investment of time and money  for horses – –  this plan would be beneficial to all of us.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY…RAYE”

“Sometimes when I think back – – back to the 1940’s – – and the school kids at St. Vincent’s  – –  getting autographs of everyone that I liked and thought I would keep in touch with – –  just NOW have to think – – that LIFE can be amazing – – that we were able to stay in touch – – over the years – –   and for this “FRIENDSHIP” – – just have to give the ALMIGHTY YAHWEH  – – the thanks  – – because  – –  I never thought that I would live this long – – and also have a wonderful LIFE… BLESSED with good FRIENDS, too!”

“You have always been terrific and wonderful  “FRIEND” – – and I am wishing  you another  “HAPPY BIRTHDAY Rayetta”  – – and many more!”

“For Raye – – some old memories”

                   “MEMORY LANE – – 1947…”

img110

Click on the above photo…… so you will have a better idea of  “WHO is WHO?”

Sitting at the table – – front and center – –  on the right side …that is  “ESTER BONE” – – and it looks like she is working on  one of  those small throw rungs… that  would be used in the kitchen in front of the sink… maybe in the bathroom…  or even  for in front of an entrance door.

It would be hard for me to walk on such a prize handmade item – – if it were me that would have  “WON”  this throw rug – – I would hang it on the wall…for all to see and admire.

Sitting at the table – –  and on the left side – – are the   “WHITNEY TWINS”…”CATHERINE”  and the other  twin’s name … can not  remember…  because I was in the age range of their younger sister  “PHYLLIS  WHITNEY” and   “PHYLLIS  WHITNEY” was one of my favorite friends. The “WHITNEY TWINS” were always dressed exactly alike – – I did not study their faves… but I am guessing that they were also Identical  Twins!

Along the wall of this room – – on the right side – – the girl that is… second from the front and crocheting…  is “MARIE ANNA.”   Also, all of the items that were made  by the girls…were for sale on “PICNIC DAYS” and or some of the bigger  and more expensive items would be raffled off. Some of the items that  – – I had made when I was there … My  “Aunt Irene  Brady Riley”  purchased – – and  NOW  – – some of those items  that I made  – – I now  have…after  all of these  many years!

In my opinion…  for us – girls – to have had the time to learn to   crocket  and  to do embroidery work was a wonderful thing for us at that time – – as in the fast pace of time – – today –  – I just do not feel that girls are  learning  this way  of real lasting  “ART” – – and I just do not find that anyone has the time to sit still … for a couple of hours  and make hand-made items – – that are “WORKS of ART!”

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my friend, Rayetta Ludwig Mangano and many more”  It sure has been a very long time since we were kids – – doing all of these things – – that I have some pictures of – – just to revive the old memory days of LIFE in the  1940’s!     D.V.
