“On March 14, National Write Your Story Day “

“Put PEN to PAPER” -and tell us,  all  that you remember – from way back, and when!”

National Write Your Story Day - March 14

NATIONAL WRITE YOUR STORY DAY

Everyone has a story. On March 14, National Write Your Story Day challenges you to tell your story in written form.

You may think to yourself, “There’s nothing in my life to tell.” It will surprise you once you put pen to paper, or fingers to keyboard and the words start filling the pages. Words have a way of triggering memories. They form a moment in time, and before you know it, there’s a story flowing from your fingertips. Even if you never share your tale, it can be an essence of who you are and where you’ve been.

Trips down memory lane or recreating the moment when a spark of inspiration occurred, are more intriguing than you know. Today, they fill blogs, inspire novels and entire television series. More importantly, they are treasures to family and loved ones.

National Write Your Story Day encourages us to start telling our personal story today. There’s a story worth recounting in there somewhere!

HOW TO OBSERVE

Commit to writing your story. Grab pen and paper or your favorite electronic device and begin typing away. We all have a story to tell. Use #WriteYourStoryDay to share on social media.

“Create energetic, and optimistic people”

“BE A MORE ENERGETIC LEADER”

HOW TO BE A MORE ENERGETIC LEADER

5 Things You Can Do Today to Regain Stamina and Enthusiasm

On more than one occasion, I’ve heard Andy Stanley say, “The best thing a leader can bring to his team is his energy.” I agree. This has certainly been my experience.

As a leader, everything you do is contagious. If you are discouraged, pessimistic, or lacking in energy, people will feel it. The organization will reflect it. It will spread faster than an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Ever dreamed of launching your own self-hosted WordPress blog? It’s easier than you think! Watch my free, twenty-minute screencast. I show you exactly how to do it, step-by-step. You don’t need any technical knowledge. Click here to get started.

Conversely, when you are upbeat, energetic, and optimistic, people also feel it. It will have a positive effect on your team and the outcomes you hope to create.

The best leaders don’t leave their energy level to chance. They are intentional about creating it. Here are some ways I have found to be a more energetic leader:

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

I have found that I need about seven hours of sleep to feel rested. Others may need more; some will need less. Determine what you need and make sure you get it. One of the best ways to do this is to get to bed on time. Avoid the temptation to stay up and squeeze in more work or play. You’re only cheating yourself. You will pay for it the next day.

Eat Smart

Your diet affects your energy level more than you realize. Don’t just eat what you enjoy at the moment. Instead, eat for the effect it will have later. This is one reason why I generally avoid pasta for lunch. It makes me sleepy and lethargic in the afternoon. Before you consume something, ask yourself, “How will this make me feel later?”

Exercise Regularly

If you are not already working out consistently, you might think that regular exercise will deplete your energy. Not so. It will actually give you more energy during the day. It doesn’t drain your energy, it replenishes it. And it will also make you sleep better at night.

Avoid Negative People

Those who are negative—or worse, cynical—will drag you down. I used to think I could bring them up. But I soon discovered that there are some people who just enjoy being miserable. They are energy vampires. They siphon the life out of you. The best antidote is to avoid them, and surround yourself with positive people.

Decide to Be Energetic

This is huge. Unless you are ill, you can be more energetic by simply acting more energetic. I am always surprised at how my emotions follow my body. If I walk faster, sit on the edge of my seat, and smile, I will eventually feel more energetic.

Your energy level has a bigger effect on your team than you may realize. The good news is that you can be a more energetic leader by becoming more aware and intentional about developing it.

If you want to go deeper, here are a few more ideas on How to Boost Your Energy Level.

The best leaders don’t leave their energy level to chance. They are intentional about creating it.

“Exercise -Plus More Exercise- GOOD For YOU”

“What in the world are you doing – if, I may ask – when you take a moment to stop – for a fresh breath of AIR?”

“I’m WORKING OUT – just like YOU!”

img114

“Do you think that I’m   WORKING OUT – just like YOU…MOM?”       I am learning to keep track of the number of times –  that I’m going up and down  – and the best part of this exercising,  is the special music,  that you have playing…just for me…too!img115

It sure is good,  that –  I am as strong…  as  I think, that I am, or will, some day  –  and I do know that, that will   soon be,  because there  are,   only so many of these ups and downs,  that  a some what  little  ole  me  or a just   like  little  me,  will or can really  try do!

This is our –  little,  “Alyssa”  at  21 months  of age.

“”Dangling Participial “

“Dangling Participial”

dan·gling par·ti·ci·ple
/ˌdaNGɡ(ə)liNG ˈpärdəsip(ə)l/

noun

GRAMMAR
  1. a participle intended to modify a noun which is not actually present in the text.

When I was in the third and fourth grades,   and in the Orphanage – where two “GRADES” were in the same room  – you just may get  – an  over dose  of some of the same information – and sometimes,  it did help – to find a permanent place in your BRAIN!

Take the case of the “Dangling Participial”  – as there were some things,  that without  some  visual idea of – there was no way – that you could just put a few words together – and stick them in your “BRAIN” and think that they would make any kind of  sense – if and when the situation would occur – and you would  then,  be able to understand – and keep yourself  from making an error – in your speech and or in writing about something.

So, Sister Florence, our teacher wrote this sentence on the  “blackboard” for all to see and then write in your notebooks – and maybe remember for when you needed an example – so as to correct yourselves and always  be in the know  as to what  a “Dangling Participial”  would  do  and sound like – when incorrectly  “Dangling” in your sentence!

“I saw the Empire State Building walking down Main Street!”

“Did you really see, the ” Empire State Building” –  walking down Main Street?”

We all of course nearly died, laughing about that  sentence – so much so – that,  just to think  about  those words –  we saw, a mental picture of that situation – and we knew exactly,   what a “Dangling Participial”  was – and ever since then, in the  “1940’s” – I will never forget seeing that  “Empire State Building” walking down  Main Street!

“Do you “know”  or have a correct version – of how that sentence should read?”

“How do you like this?”

“While walking down, “MAIN STREET” – I saw the Empire State Building!”

There is just something about “words” and how we run them together –  and some times,  we can just sit back  – and laugh – at the jumbled mess – that, we can come up with!

“If you are not too confused, let me hear about some of  the long ago and far away learning lessons – that you think  – are worth while talking about?

“Our learning lessons from the PAST – are what we are today  – called the total and completed product – that makes us that perfect individual – that our FAMILY and FRIENDS –  just LOVE to hear from and about!”    D.V.

“Happy Birthday… Violet Lessor”

“Remembering a Good Friend on her BIRTHDAY”

“BIRTHDAY GREETINGS… to VIOLET M. LESSOR”

“Happy Birthday… Violet Lessor…. and many MORE…”

Violet is the lady on the left  – and a good friend of the Aldrich Family, Lee, Al, Jill, Alyssa and Jaime – and you know who is in the middle, ME!

This picture was taken, as we  were leaving Church  –  as there is a bulletin board on the wall in the foyer or entrance area – and just so you,   and or visitors can get to know, WHO or  what some of the people look like and their names  – you will find photos,  as well as the above photo  “ours” on display  – that makes it easier for you, the VISITOR,  to have the name of the person or family that you would want to  meet and talk with   – makes for an easy introduction  –  while all the members meet and usually enjoy a breakfast  and or lurch – depending on the times and what is going on.

This was a “very friendly” Church  – with members taking part in  many of the different programs,  and or teachings,  which were  made available in the evening hours.  Always, lots of activities to keep you active in the Church – and,  I knew,  that this was not “Violet’s”  regular Church – but,  I thought that she would enjoy going with our family,  and  – if there was ever a time, that she would like for us to pick her up – and bring her – that was something that we  would enjoyed doing.

When  you are going to Church, on a regular time frame – I just feel, that it is a good idea to check with “Neighbors”  – just to see if there is someone,  in and or around  your  neighborhood,  that would also like to attend. So many of our friends and neighbors are senior citizens and no longer drive – and sometimes have no way to attend a Church  – but, would so very much,  like to be included  – but, could be  embarrassed, just  to ask for an  opportunity,  to go with you –  and,  would say   “yes”  – so fast  –  if ever,  someone would just  take the time  – to invite  them??

When you are talking with friends –  include in the conversation  – some of the things, that you are doing –  the activity and or Church your FAMILY are  attending – when,  where and just  how good you feel,  about what you and your FAMILY  are doing  – then, offer the invitation, asking  this person,   that you are talking with,  “Would you like to go, with us, sometime, too?”  Then follow up with,  “I’d like to take you along with us,  and,  if you need – we will pick you up on the way and bring you home?”  Tell them to just think about the Church or  whatever they are interested in,  and add,  “If you are not ready right now,  just think about it, here is my phone number,  just call me anytime, the offer  still stands, and, that is,  for as long as  you want to think about it?”  “OKAY?”    “OKAY!”

*******   An Idea for you,  but, is  an old MEMORY for  ME!”   *******

“Violet M. Lessor” – a very good friend,  that,  I knew way back in the 1980s,  and one  very special  memory,  of  so many  memories,  that,   I  will always remember was of  surprising  my friend, “VIOLET”  with,  my request  for  her “BIRTHDAY”  info,  so as to have  requesting  by mail , that,   I needed to  send,  to  the  “WHITE HOUSE”   – requesting they would,  send to  her,  an “80th Birthday”  Greeting,   from the President of the United States!

“Violet” was so surprised,   that,  I would take the time to write to the “WHITE HOUSE”  and not telling her – before hand – then, for her “BIRTHDAY”   –  she just  had to call me,  just to let me know,  when this  “BIRTHDAY GREETING”  letter came, to her,  and,   it is from the “PRESIDENT”   – himself,  it was  just so exciting and  a better memory for  me,  just  because, for having taken a  little  time, for this terrific occasion and big surprise to her, she could hardly believe,  that I,   or that  anyone,  WOULD TAKE THE TIME!   How often,  do we know of someone,  making it,  to their  “80’s”  and then, also,  that someone should  still remember their “BIG BIRTHDAY?”   Just doing something a little different, but, ever  so wonderful,    just makes,  for our  living longer,  so much more worthwhile,  after all is said and done!

(Little acts of random kindness –

really make the day for the recipient!)  D.V.
