NATIONAL THREAD THE NEEDLE DAY – July 25

“There is more to this – than meets the EYE”

NATIONAL THREAD THE NEEDLE DAY – July 25

National Thread The Needle Day is observed annually on July 25th. “Thread the needle” has multiple meanings. As a result, we recognize several ways to celebrate the day!

Here are some of the different meanings of “Thread the Needle.”

  • Literal meaning – Taking a thread and guiding it through a sewing needle
  • Metaphorical sense – Finding a path through two opposing views (often used by politicians)
  • Game move – A type of billiards move where the ball is shot precisely through a narrow pathway
  • Yoga pose – Also known as para balasana, the pose brings the body to a kneeling position with both hands on the floor (table pose). Slide the left hand all the way to the left beneath the body. The head and shoulder should rest comfortably on the floor, creating a slight twist in the spine.
  • Sports metaphor- Often employed in sports to describe a tight space in which to move the ball

HOW TO OBSERVE

Put on your glasses and thread a needle. Or try a fancy billiards or basketball move. Can you twist into the yoga pose? Whichever one you choose to celebrate the day, post on social media using #ThreadTheNeedleDay.

“NATIONAL LOVE IS KIND DAY”

National Love is Kind Day - July 27

Just as on July 4th Americans celebrate their independence, so is July 27th to be celebrated—a day to celebrate independence from the abuser.

July 27th, National Love is Kind Day is the day to:

  • Celebrate for all victims of domestic violence/domestic abuse their FREEDOM and INDEPENDENCE from their abuser.
  • Recognize our right to be treated with KINDNESS. Because real love is kind, not terrorizing.
  • Realize that kindness is the path to healthy and safer relationships, families, society, and world.
  • Give voice for and hope and support to others who are still suffering, often in silence.
  • Spread messages how we can be kind to one another, especially to those closest to us.
  • Remember that love is not abusive, violent, demeaning or dehumanizing.  If someone uses love as an excuse for their hurtful behavior, it’s not real love.

With every generation, the cycle of abuse continues to cripple families, especially women and children who are most vulnerable. The cycle of abuse must stop now.

National Love is Kind Day encourages you to become aware of how you are treating people, how people are treating you, and how you can become emboldened, supported and empowered to lead a joyful and productive life that you deserve. With improved and proper support, families can know and experience the freedom and love found in an abuse-free home. Children grow up with positive role models, and both adults and children lead more productive, happy, and mentally healthy lives.

The day is an opportunity to say “No to abuse! No to violence! No to ridicule! And begin saying, “Yes, to kindness! Yes, to sharing my voice! Yes, I am worth it! Yes, my life matters. Kindness rules!”

Stop the cycle of abuse and make a difference to create a kinder world.

HOW TO OBSERVE NATIONAL LOVE IS KIND DAY

They are many ways to celebrate this day and have it be the beginning of the Love is Kind Movement!

  • Expect to be treated with kindness. Repeat the mantra “I deserve to be treated with kindness,” especially if you’ve ever been abused, bullied, or sexually harassed or assaulted.
  • Exchange negative actions and words for positive ones for the day. For example, replace hitting with a walk, yelling with deep breathing, and insults with kind gestures and words, such as, “let me understand.”
Being kind to others starts with being kind to yourself. Be kind means setting healthy boundaries for yourself.
  • Celebrate with Domestic Violence survivors their freedom from abuse! If you or someone you know left an unhealthy relationship, this is YOUR independence day to celebrate freedom from abuse/domestic violence. “RUSH HOUR” traffic – Take a Helicopter”

“Bowling Green Airport – Terrific Music for FLY-IN”

Every year for at least a week,  the “BOWLING GREEN AIRPORT” has the best “MUSIC MAN”… “GENE PATRICK”  and with his lovely and talented wife, NANCY!

“How’s this PHOTO?  Like they say,  a PHOTO is worth a thousand words! GENE is all set for what the crowd wants to hear,  and will be ready to call the names of  all the “WINNERS”  as there were many “Raffles” going on.

So many organizations  needed this attraction,  with crowds of people for days, to make some extra money!”

“How  is this, Al Aldrich  landing…

right on the designated spot, set-up at  GENE’s  place,  for the “MAN’ in his  “FLYING MACHINE” *********

“Beautiful  Set-down SPOT.”  Everyone should have a spot for   a “Helicopter” to land, would make for LIFE to run on a “smoother plane!”

Just think about all the “RUSH HOUR” traffic   that You would avoid!   All that  slow moving,  but – also  in a big hurry, after all,   it is “five o’clock”   and NOW,   stuck in  heavy traffic  and for hours, all of which, you could live without?

“It just goes without saying,   so much less stress in your LIFE, would lead  to a much longer and more productive LIFE!  More time to share with the FAMILY and FRIENDS!

“What else is living the   “GOOD LIFE” all about?”     D.V.

“July – Visit with Aunt Irene – Birthday Month”

          July 1961 – Activities…img221

Always,  for the  “FORTH of July”   we  would have to come to Saint Louis, from Fort Lauderdale Florida. The “FIRE WORKS” were a big thing for our KIDS and for those of the relatives in SAINT LOUIS,  as you can see  in the above photo.

Aunt Irene Riley is standing on the right and,  we will be  celebrating her   “73rd BIRTHDAY on the 17th” so that is one important thing we will also be doing.

Aunt Irene, is getting into  the  feeling her age on this photo, she does not have her girdle on,  as she would wear it most  any  other  time,   “WE GIRLS MUST ALWAYS KEEP IN “mind”   OUR OLD GIRLISH FIGURE  – JUST GOT UP AND LEFT”   but, and  NOW   to be around all the KIDDOS and walking around in the “HOT”  ST. Louis ZOO,  is not  the place to be wearing tight fitting  clothes and sweating to death, at any old age?

So, thinking about comfort,  who in the world are “we”  trying  to impress,  the “ANIMALS.”   “I do not think so, they are not wearing their girdles!”  So, let’s just be comfortable and have FUN!

Next to Aunt Irene, is our little “Lee,Jr.” and this  “ZOO thing”  well,   it is all NEW to him. I can not remember if there was a  “ZOO”  in or near us, in the Fort Lauderdale, Florida area? And,  of course,  I am taking the pictures, and I also am expecting baby “Al”  –  this is JULY and “AL”  will be arriving in early JANUARY, so there is a math problem for those who like  to do figure work,  in the middle of summer?

On the left side of this photo, ” Kathy Stanley”   a very favorite sister-in-law,  and some of her children, the girls’ names “Denise  and Diane”  and the son is “Ralph”  hope that I am remembering the names  correctly,  have other pictures posted and you will find their names.

Just check me out,  see if my memory is at least half correct?   Since we usually stayed  in the Saint Louis area,  for a month, we stayed  much of the time, with the STANLEY FAMILY, and we would visit with more relatives,   as well as check out a lot of the Saint Louis sites, especially if they were suited for bringing  the children, to also enjoy?

This picture is for the remembrance of “Aunt Irene Riley’s BIRTHDAY”  we were there,  we helped her  celebrate   to get  ready for another year of happiness,  that’s what BIRTHDAYS   are for, setting the mind into action,  the new frame of mind!  “Not getting OLDER – but getting BETTER!”   D.V.

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY”  –   “AUNT  IRENE BRADY RILEY!”

“Al just called – Are We Ready”

“If… You’re Ready? Let’s Takeoff!”img001

“I’m ready… Are You ready?”

On a day as beautiful as this,  we just have to go and see everything and everywhere.  This is the day that the Almighty made, and just for us to go and fly all over  to see and inspect all that  is  just there  and waiting for us!

There is a friend of mine, who had invited us,   to stop by his place for “lunch” with him and his wife. They want for  us, to see the new  property,  that they have just purchased.  In fact,  he was so excited about our stopping by,  he even put in an area, nicely designated,  as his very own “Helicopter-Park” area,   and  just  for us to land as he said,  he had it marked with a nice big “H”   “so very well marked”  so that anybody flying low,  will be able to find it and land!

Also, while we are there, sure hope you do not mind meeting some of his friends,  as he wants me to give them a free,  but a short time  flight-ride, up and around his property.   A part of his  property is up high,  and  has a “Water-fall” flowing down into a small river, just looks  so beautiful,  just be sure to take some pictures.

This will be one of those days,  that  we will want to  remember  everyone, since  it looks likes this will be  “FUN and GAMES” for some of his friends,  those who would not otherwise be able to just schedule  their  very own  “Helicopter Ride”   since some of them have some small Kids,  that can hardly wait for us, to show them all a real good time!

“Be sure to give everyone my business cards,  so we can have more FUN  just  Flying,   with all of our new FRIENDS!”        D.V.

“Come FLY with Me -Get there sooner”

“Are “WE” Ready to LAND… ??”img225

“Sure hope you are ready to land?  We have a rental car waiting  and we will be going over to my brother,  “Donald’s”  house,  we will have a short visit,  all  depending on what they are doing, tonight?  Maybe even  get something to eat,  with the “BIG”  Donald and his FAMILY.   “Donald and his wife,  Valerie” have  two boys, so when ever,  you want to go and  or  leave,   we can  and we will be taking lots of pictures. So, if  you gals can  now put on your  “Pretty” face and look  real  glamorous!” – “Here we go!”

We will be driving up the Federal Highway,  then A-1-A highway  along the beach,  we will  see the area where they made the movie,   “Where the Boys are”   –  just  so you can figure out where you want to stay for a couple of days.  Also,  thought you might want to visit  – “Topper’s” –   one of  the three   restaurants,  that my parents had, when we lived down here?

Also, if you want to see where we lived and the other two  “restaurants”   we will go there, too? Or to where ever  and or what ever,   catches your eye?  “Okay??” – “Looks like the  “thumbs-up”   got it!”

“Just flying and having lots of Fun!   D.V.
