“Marie Brady on Her Birthday”

This is one of those, most favorite PHOTOS, that I have of my Mother, when she was a little girl!

Several times I saw a PHOTO,  just  like  the above,  that reminded me of this PHOTO.

If you watch “Turner Classics Movies” in the evenings, and I am not sure exactly when – but they have a very large  “Scrapbook”  where  the pages are  opening  from one page to the next.  I am not sure  which evenings or for what special night’s show,  but pages  of  the this large scrapbook  are flipping open and slowly, so that the viewer can see  and view quickly some special items, and if ever you are watching – get a real good look at the  third inside page on the left.

As the pages are turned backwards, is when you can see a large enough size PHOTO of a girl, in a white dress, just like the dress on “Marie Brady” – in the above PHOTO. Everytime  I do try to see  if and or who they have in that dress, as  that dress does stand out – once you have seenit!

The above PHOTO is earl 1900. Maybe up to 1910 as I am not good as judging a person’ age, just by the dress. The dress does look like a “PARTY DRESS”  and for the time period, they did wear dresses that were down to the ankle. Also,  due to the color of the hair, “MARIE”  did say something about being called, “Cotton-top”  before the color  turned to a blond, and then brown.

Just looking at this PHOTO – was wondering  – how many “petticoats”  and or “bloomer” type or “pantaloons” would a young child need to wear – just to make the dress look so nice?

Just had to add this – as I did

not think that they were

still available?

“MOM’s Birthday is Just Around the Corner”

   “Mother” Grand and Great!

“Mother”  equals Miracles!  Let’s start at the beginning. Without  “Mother,”  there would  be no  “New Little Creations of Life.”   The way,  our Almighty   created His  world to continue,  was to give  “Mothers”  the “Blessings of Life.” And the “word” for life,  is:  “It’s a  Miracle!”

Are those not the exact words you hear, by everyone at  and in the  “maternity-ward?”

Whatever  road  –  your journey in “Life”  is taking you  –  remember always,  your “Mother” was the first one to “Love You”  –  no matter what else happens on the way.

We, all are not born with “Silver Spoons”  and  in the “Land of Plenty!”   As  there are some that entered on this “Road of Life”  with the most meager amount of substance, and as in  this great game of life,   You  work,  on your own plan to success,  and with that plan  to enter into Eternity  –   into those arms of,  Your Creator!

Today, Mom!   It  is almost your  “Birthday” to celebrate and  be remembered,  “for all you did,”  for  all of your family!    I know, what a rough road you were on for awhile.    Some families,  get  side tracked and do  not  remember their  own families with  honour and respect,     because, they  have let their eyes,   become blinded.

They have  forgotten   their  first    “Love”    Mother, but forever,  I will always remember  “YOU as the best MOM”  that ever lived on this earth!      “Happy Birthday!”

“If You Did Not KNOW – Listen NOW”

The movie, The Bodyguard,  with Kevin Costner, and Whitney Houston is one movie that I could watch several times – and still watch even more – just something about the movie that,  when you listen to Kevin Costner give details about the two – you will feel like watching the movie – right now and again – as there is real LOVE coming across, meaning that our Creator put all of us – here on EARTH, for a purpose, and if we find that which we need to do here –  and do it NOW, we will have accomplished  all that we were directed to do here – on this our on private  journey.

“Our CREATOR and Eternity  are waiting for those of us – that have completed their Mission, here on Earth.”

“Some Old Time Memories are Still Terrific”

“Mary Ellen models “Poodle Skirt”Poodle skirt 001Do you remember the correct year – 1946 or 1947 – when “Poodle skirts”  first  became  “the skirt”  for your little girl?

“All three pose on slide!”3 on slide 001Mary Ellen with  the “Poodle Skirt”  and  with brothers Denny and Tommy  sitting on slide,  which is on  “girls-side” of   playground.

“First-Communion Day”1st communion 001“1946”  Mary Ellen, Denny and Tommy  in our  First-Communion outfits, and in front of the  Lovely Replica  of  Our Blessed Mother and within the  Shadow of the Home!

“Beautiful Little Angels!”2nd Pose 001Three  “Angels”  – Denny Jr., Tommy and Mary Ellen. It is amazing that some of these pictures survived since 1946, especially when you think of the camera used and the poor care taken with all the moves we made!

These Photos went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida and then back to Saint Louis, Missouri and several places in the County – so with packing and not really knowing way back then – that there would come a day – when the “Old” stuff is just what,  the world needs to see today!

Thanks to our Almighty,  for taking  good care of all the memories that go with  these PHOTOS – and  that a time and place would be available to post these treasures  – for all  of the generations to follow – they will have most of their questions answered,  by just  checking out  “Grandma’s Stories”  – and if they like – just adding on,  something that I may have forgotten!   D.V.

“AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY”

AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY – September 18

The Air Force Birthday on September 18th commemorates the establishment of The United States Air Force.

Almost from the moment the Wright brothers found a way to soar with the birds, the military incorporated aeronautical pursuits into their missions. However, the Air Force did not become a separate branch of the Armed Forces until September 18, 1947.

The military established the Signal Corps as the first aeronautical force in the United States. During the Civil War, the first missions provided visional communications via flags and torchlight from aerial balloons. Even so, the Signal Corps didn’t become an official branch of the Army until 1863. Its creation made way for more aeronautical training and study.

Since then, military air service has gone through many names and commands. A few examples are Air Service of the US Army to the Air Corps and Army Air Force. Finally, in 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act establishing the United States Air Force as a separate branch of the military.

As a result of pursuing advanced technology and superior airmen, the US Air Force emerged as the swiftest tactical force ready to deploy anywhere at a moment’s notice. On September 18, celebrate the airmen and women who are on watch every day.

HOW TO OBSERVE #AirForceBirthday

AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY HISTORY

The 1947 National Security Act restructured The United States military and intelligence agencies in the aftermath of World War II.  On September 18, 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act establishing the U.S. Airforce on board the first Air Force One, a VC 54C.
