“the likability factor”

“TO LIKE… or NOT to LIKE”

“If you’re following the US presidential news, you may have heard about something called “the likability factor”. It has relevance as to whether or not we vote for a given candidate. The somewhat arbitrary metric was famously parlayed into the presidency by Dwight D Eisenhower, with the slogan “I Like Ike”. According to conventional wisdom, the vague descriptor is a critical factor in the electorates decisions on who they are going to vote for…”

“Jaime’s Post…The Four Agreements”

The Four Agreements

the-four-agreements-624x624

I recently read a book called The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz that opened my eyes to a new way of thinking and way of living. The premise is that there are four agreements you make with yourself and when followed miraculous things will happen.

As you practice living these four practices your life will dramatically change. In the beginming these new habits will be challenging and you will lapse countless times. With practice these agreements become integrated into your being and every area of your life and become easy habits to keep.

The Four Agreements are:

1. Be Impeccable with your Word:    Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the Word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your Word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don’t Take Anything Personally
Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don’t Make Assumptions
Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best
Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse, and regret.

For more on this, check out the book, The Four Agreements. It has the power to transform our lives to a new experience of freedom, love and true happiness.

“Jaime’s First Published Book is Just Terrific”

“First Published book by Jaime Aldrich”

This is the cover of the book written and illustrated with her very own drawings…the title is “Changes Around Us” … and the author is Miss Jaime Aldrich, my Grand-Daughter.

img188

Since … little Miss Jaime’s book is about the changing  “SEASONS ” just thought that I would include a page from her book and this page talks about this very “TIME” of the year that we are in now…

“FALL” … and on the page opposite this writing is…  one of her very own drawings just to show us… what the “FALL TIME”  of a year would look like and what we might be doing… when and at this time of the year.

This is one of the best “projects” … I feel that the SCHOOL System can offer for the very young children… something CREATIVE and using their natural talents that a very young child has.

To have some way of expressing their use of language, writing, and storytelling all in a very natural and highly imaginative way for their age. Also, for those young children who like to draw and color or even paint, which are all qualities to spark a full development… giving them something that they may want to explore further in LIFE, with higher education and more training.

When given a chance early to start writing stories and with your own natural creative gifts given to us by our Creator… gives us advancement in more training and working our natural abilities into a career and or at least…  this first starter project is a FAMILY treasure and something to be proud of …  for all the days of their LIFE!

“One must be grateful and thankful to those TEACHERS… that have the inspiration to know exactly what will motivate children to learn and master good working abilities in small starter projects in SCHOOL…sparking something that gives a Student a chance to develop LOVE… in projects… that also inspire others to always want to make things that are good for all of us!”

“Read…When Your Favorite Pet Goes to Heaven”

October 15, 2019

Our 14-year-old dog Abbey died last month. The day after she passed away my 4-year-old daughter Meredith was crying and talking about how much she missed Abbey. She asked if we could write a letter to God so that when Abbey got to heaven, God would recognize her. I told her that I thought we could so, and she dictated these words:
Dear God,
Will you please take care of my dog? She died yesterday and is with you in heaven. I miss her very much. I am happy that you let me have her as my dog even though she got sick.
I hope you will play with her. She likes to swim and play with balls. I am sending a picture of her so when you see her you will know that she is my dog. I really miss her.
Love, Meredith
We put the letter in an envelope with a picture of Abbey and Meredith and addressed it to God/Heaven. We put our return address on it. Then Meredith pasted several stamps on the front of the envelope because she said it would take lots of stamps to get the letter all the way to heaven. That afternoon she dropped it into the letterbox at the post office. A few days later, she asked if God had gotten the letter yet. I told her that I thought He had.
Yesterday, there was a package wrapped in gold paper on our front porch addressed, ‘To Meredith’ in an unfamiliar hand. Meredith opened it. Inside was a book by Mr. Rogers called, ‘When a Pet Dies.’ Taped to the inside front cover was the letter we had written to God in its opened envelope. On the opposite page were the picture of Abbey & Meredith and this note:
Dear Meredith,
Abbey arrived safely in heaven. Having the picture was a big help and I recognized her right away.
Abbey isn’t sick anymore. Her spirit is here with me just like it stays in your heart. Abbey loved being your dog. Since we don’t need our bodies in heaven, I don’t have any pockets to keep your picture in so I am sending it back to you in this little book for you to keep and have something to remember Abbey by.
Thank you for the beautiful letter and thank your mother for helping you write it and sending it to me. What a wonderful mother you have. I picked her especially for you. I send my blessings every day and remember that I love you very much. By the way, I’m easy to find. I am wherever there is love.
Love, God
Don’t say you’re too busy to Share this. Just go ahead and do it
Suspended Coffees You will all be happy to know this wonderful story is 100% true, please don’t take offense to the reference of God, it’s part of the story.

“Learning Lessons while Shopping of Child Behavior”

Listen and learn!

Do you keep your ears and eyes open when shopping at “Wal-mart” stores? You should really watch people when you are in a large area of people  –  there are lessons to learn.

At this particular time – afternoon  –  a family, father, mother, and three sons ages  15  to  21  –  all well dressed.  They moved through the store and if they were not so very quiet and well behaved  – even I, would not have noticed.  But something caught my ear. “Snap Snap”  or you might say  “Click Click”  – when you rub your thumb and middle finger together making a noticeable noise!

Out of the ordinary noises catch my ear and I have to look and listen further for what is going on? Observe and learn for what is to be expected?  You might just say that I am nosy!

When the “Father” snapped his fingers, his three sons, immediately  –  turned toward him watching for his fingers to do the talking!  His pointer finger  – selected the son’s attention he wanted  –  he would point to something and then move his wrist toward himself or to the basket to put said item in.  Everything so mechanical!

He would talk in a very soft voice to the  “Mother” of the family  –  but when doing so was very close to her ear.  So, now… I was finished with my shopping and so was this other family… that I was observing for quite some time… now…that this family was finished with their shopping and also looking for a lane to check out in,  old nosy me… I follow them into the same lane.

They spoke with the cashier,  gave  their credit card information, and as the cashier was bagging merchandise  – the  “Father”  with a quick  “snap or click”   and a point  to one son and a quick point to another   with wrist  pointing to  the basket   –   the sons knew what to do,  they  finished  the  bagging and putting the filled bags  into  the basket,  with precise   “clockwork”    action,  just as if they were in the  Military?”

You know this training started as soon as these boys began to walk, it was just so natural   – I’ll bet these boys were never in the store as small children crying for everything that they wanted  –  and or were crying louder when they were not getting it.  When there is a strong “Father figure”  in the family you can move mountains with little or no effort!
