“Father’s Day”

                  “Is This Men’s Night Out?”

“Is there a better time in “LIFE”  – than a time   – just to share undivided time with your DAD?”

When you are “LUCKY” to be born “FIRST”  – that  means that you have received  – extra special favour from Almighty God – and that He – your Heavenly Father has a special plan just for you!

Everyday  – I try to learn something new – because my Grandma, said  – “Pay attention to all that is going on around you.

AND… you’ll never know unless you were paying real good attention…  was there a special lesson  in that day for me to recall.

AND…much latter on in “LIFE”  – to understand why those actions taken years ago…  caused these  actions  that occurring today?”

Anyway, I’m having “FUN” today – because “GRANDMA” –  also said…                “Little Grand-children of her’s…  should have lots of fun and  always enjoy “LIFE” while she is around!”

“FATHER’S DAY”

FATHER’S DAY – Third Sunday in June

On the third Sunday in June, Father’s Day honors the role fathers play in the family structure and society. The day recognizes not just fathers, but the father figures in our lives. These are the men we look up to who set solid examples for us and guide us throughout our lives.

Many families dedicate the day to their fathers and grandfathers. Whether they are first-time fathers just learning to change a diaper, or experienced fathers offering sage advice, the day celebrates everything a father is. Fathers from family to family play a variety of roles. They may be a caregiver, provider, or advisor. Some fathers are the strong, silent types. And yet others tell us stories for days. Fathers teach, guiding small hands as they hammer a nail or sail a kite.

We only look up to our fathers for so long. At some point, we begin to see things a little differently. But that’s not when we stop looking up to them. It’s at that point, we turn and look forward together.

HOW TO OBSERVE #FathersDay

Celebrate your father. Explore his favorite hobbies or encourage him to share a story or two. Play a game or take him to one. Enjoy your time with your father and celebrate him. Share images of you with your father on social media and be sure to use #FathersDay too!

FATHER’S DAY HISTORY

After the success of Mother’s Day, Father’s Day observances began to appear around the United States and world. However, the road to this national observance was not an easy one.

First Recorded Father’s Day

The first recorded celebration of Father’s Day happened after the Monograph Mining Disaster in West Virginia. The disaster killed 361 men and left around 1,000 children fatherless in December of 1907. Grace Golden Clayton suggested a day honoring all those fathers to her pastor, Robert Thomas Webb. On July 5th, 1908, the community gathered in honor of the men lost in the mining accident. The assembled at Williams Memorial Methodist Episcopal Church South, now known as Central United Methodist Church, in Fairmont, West Virginia.

Other Claims to Father’s Day

In 1910, the YMCA in Spokane, Washington recruited several clergymen with the help of Sonora Smart Dodd to honor fathers throughout the city. The date was set for June 5th but was later changed to June 19th (the 3rd Sunday in June), as many clergymen needed more time to prepare.

Harry C. Meek, a member of Lions Clubs International, claimed that he first had the idea for Father’s Day in 1915. Meek argued that the third Sunday of June was chosen because it was his birthday. The Lions Club has named him “Originator of Father’s Day.” Meek made many efforts to promote Father’s Day and make it an official holiday.

Presidential Intervention

After a visit to Spokane, WA in 1916 to speak at a Father’s Day celebration, President Woodrow Wilson wanted to make the day official, but Congress resisted fearing that the observance would become too commercialized. Once again, a president nearly intervened, but President Calvin Coolidge stopped short of issuing a national proclamation in 1924.

Sonora Smart Dodd continued to work to make Father’s Day a national observance. In 1938, she collaborated with the Father’s Day Council, a group of New York Men’s Wear Retailers, for the commercial promotion of the observance. Many Americans resisted the holiday for decades because of these attempts to commercialize the day.

It wasn’t until 1966, that President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation honoring fathers on the third Sunday in June. The holiday wasn’t made an annual event until President Richard Nixon signed into law, making it a permanent national holiday in 1972 over 50 years after Mother’s Day came into existence.

“Happy Father’s Day Memories are for EVER”

Some times a Photo is worth more than  mere money  could ever pay.

Each day that one has… has just got to stand for something that no amount of money could ever  cover the cost of…TIME!

This Photo was taken by me… in the early 1960’s in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

That is my husband Lee, Sr. with our two sons Lee, Jr. and little Al on one of our afternoon fishing trips,  just to have some family time of peace and quiet, and if by chance… to see if the fish were  ready to be caught… today!

We so often took an afternoon off … just to check out  a different area that just might be a place that the fish were just hoping that someone like us… would stop by… dropping their  lines into their water,  with all of those good treats to be taken by them… as they were just too smart for us fishermen of fish… as not being experts in that field… we usually… came home with nothing.

Lee-Kids 001

One important thing about “fishing” is that I did have to be quiet… so as not to let the fish know that someone was there… trying to catch them  for dinner.

Just glad that I did take a couple of Photos back then… as we never know what will happen in just the next couple of years.

We do not know when or where our time here on earth will be called to an end.

Just a couple of years from the date of this Photo.. Lee was called … he must have been needed in Heaven… as we all have a “PASS”  that puts us here on Earth, but the expiration date is non-available for us to know  that last date.

“Happy  FATHERS’ DAY TO LEE… the boys and I still miss you”!      D.V.

“Enjoy the Summer Time, Father with Son”

               “This is the Life!”

img073

When you find that you have the  “TIME”…  to just be with the ones you “LOVE”  and  you find,  that there is no big hurry to rush  the  time clock …  that the whole wide world  will stop time… and  just for those … those few,  who are going to remember these so very “precious moments” … for a “LIFE-TIME!”

Those “precious children”  you receive  are only  so small and  young and so very   enjoyable for just so short of a time  frame … if  you can only try to  remember that… in these “TIMES”  with our small children … that they go by too  fast and can never-ever be duplicated!

Never, ever again, can we have that so  wonderful short passage of “TIME”  … ever back again…  not even a  tiny second  longer nor  even  a small chance of TIME … to ever think we will do it  all … once more?

“Love your small children now – tomorrow … just could be … too late!

“Sharing the Good Old Times Once More”

“A Photo is worth a thousand words of wonder and good memories”

“Just  so glad that this occasion was caught on film  and this single moment caught  as we stopped for the children to have a small treat and  a chance to see others doing … just exactly as we were going to do… rest a few minutes with some easy good and quick  snacks!”

It is easy to see that we were at one of those fast food drive ins, cars coming and going… people  more in a hurry to get to other more important places than us.

There are some people just standing around, maybe just trying to decide where to go with their food  and or where they may catch something more exciting to do… elsewhere?

In the Summertime… with children it is not too hard to figure out what will please them, as they are just interested in being together as a family and  enjoying each and every moment… as it occurs!

But… now that I think back… some thirty years have since pass, and just mentioning  that word “Summertime”… just have to add the music since… Al and the children are  all … since and over the years, interested in playing  musical instruments  and partaking in the music field.

And with that … also… ran across something even older  but … what is LIFE all about… just … “All My Loving”… as that is what makes the world go around and around … as the family that loves each other and forever… will be so much more happy … just knowing … that there is lots of LOVE in the air to share!

So… how about this old  golden oldie… listen and see if you remember…and then…  do you like it?

Sit back and enjoy!

“Let us know if you like this and or  if you are old enough to remember?

One more thing to do… gather up the small fry in the family and take to some place to share a quick treat… enjoy the outdoors,  as the weather is terrific and take photos…. some thirty years from now… you too… will be sitting back and remembering the good old times… as your family shared those good times together!
