“Bible study, work, and acts of kindness”

Prayer Transforms Us

Download the Work of the Heart today
Shalom, Ellen,

The Bible — God’s Word — is filled with examples of God’s people calling out to Him in prayer. And perhaps no other description of prayer is as inspirational, as breathtaking as the prayer found at the beginning of 1 Samuel.

Hannah—a barren woman who tells God she is “your servant”—prays to God for a child. But Hannah doesn’t just pray. The Bible tells us that “Hannah was praying in her heart” and Hannah herself describes her prayer as “pouring out my soul to the LORD” (1 Samuel 1:13-15).

Isn’t that beautiful, the Bible’s description of prayer as not some passive routine, but as something from the heart, from the soul?

Jewish tradition holds that the world stands on three pillars—Bible study, work, and acts of kindness. While the first and third pillars are obvious, the second refers to the Jewish definition of prayer—“the work of the heart.”

Thinking of prayer this way changes the act of praying itself…

Prayer is no longer us merely praising God or thanking God or asking God for what we want. The act of prayer transforms us as we pray, changing our hearts and creating a true connection with God.

This meaning of prayer—as work of the heart—is on our hearts as we share this special prayer booklet from Fellowship Founder Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, of blessed memory. In it, Rabbi Eckstein shares teachings on prayers from the Bible (including Hannah’s beautiful prayer), the Jewish perspective on prayer, and the power of prayer.

The power of the work of the heart.

“One Step on EARTH, Two STEPS ABOVE”

“Would YOU like to be, UP Here”

AA 001

When a family is on a “family trip” to visit relatives in a city or a very small town, and not too far away, but a pretty good drive  with lots to see…

and  also has lots of  extra special  items to see of the “Kennedy Space Station” with very good  back ground scenery… all of the lovely  landscape with some small parts of the Ocean  to quickly catch a sneak  view as we fly by on the road, never driving  too fast, as we do have very precious cargo in this vehicle, and we do want to be all in one piece … when we arrive at our destination… our  relatives’ home  and land, to enjoy  seeing as  we just seem to be flying by along the coast of Florida….

but still a pretty good drive…

does each of the family members get to say or put in their two cents worth of their mind… as to what  or where they  will be put in this PHOTO?

In the Photo coming up… is the youngest in the  “Aldrich FAMILY”  a little Al , himself was just “AIR” lifted up and onto  the footing holding a much larger and permanently place Aircraft… to be displayed, forever!

As you can see  “little Al” is looking to his father for help… and his Dad and young brother Lee, standing down below him are also keeping their eyes on our, little Al… just in case, he would make a quick move and start to come down… from  above.

We are at ” Cape Canaveral, Florida” and on our way to visit our cousin,  “Jimmie Brady Shilling.”

She and her  husband live on “Merrit Island” which is  just a little further for us to travel.

“just in case I forget, how to get where I am going…posting a map” “Only 171 miles one way!”

What is Merritt Island Florida known for?

The unincorporated “town” of Merritt Island is located on Florida’s largest island, which serves as the home of NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, still a major tourist attraction, even though space shuttles are no longer being launched from here.
What is there to do in Merritt Island today?
Top Attractions in Merritt Island
  • NASA Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. 20,538. …
  • Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. 953. …
  • Black Point Wildlife Drive. …
  • Space Shuttle Atlantis. …
  • Brevard Veterans Memorial Museum & Military Museum. …
  • U.S. Astronaut Hall of Fame. …
  • Sams House at Pine Island Conservation Area. …
  • Obloy Family Ranch.
We finally got to where we were going on Merritt Island… our cousins had their own swimming pool… just something,  that all of the family enjoyed and we spent a lot of time there,  just watching  as the kids did all of their fancy swimming…
we had a wonderful week with family and then… like all good vacations, there comes a time…  for the end of fun… we then packed,  and took that long  and slow  drive home… to relax!

    Hi Grandma!

Yesterday was a lot of fun visiting your old stomping grounds and seeing Tommy, his family and even your old friends! It was interesting hearing all the alumni’s stories as they were reminiscing during the tour of the place.

Most of all, it made me feel very blessed and filled with gratitude to belong to such a beautiful family. I always cherish all of our “get togethers” and time spent laughing and enjoying each other’s love and light~

I also especially appreciated you printing out photos of you at the orphanage as a child to share with us.

(Grammy asked if we could pick her out from a photo of a classroom full of girls, and as I scanned the photo, I picked out my Grammy right away!!

She still has the same look after all these years 🙂 and plus I recognized my own face in hers!)

I am very grateful for my Grandma! I love you Grammy!! What an uplifting day this was…

Cheers to honoring the past, and even more importantly GUARDING THE PRESENT MOMENT- right “NOW” is all that is, all that ever has been and ALL that ever will BE.

This moment is what creates the ripple effect out into the vast interconnected universe so it is wise to be AWARE of this power THIS MOMENT has…

Today I will be meditating and giving thanks to the Universe~ feeling the resonating GOD within me FLOURISH ABUNDANTLY with JOY, LOVE and LIGHT which through my conscious being I will echo back into the universe for ALL ETERNITY. <3

Thank you & God Bless ALL now & always~

    XOXO Love, Alyssa XOXO

Greetings, Mary Ellen. Thank you for sharing your stories and insights in the blog. I am enjoying reading your posts. I came across your blog while researching the St. Vincent German Orphan Home. My father and his siblings were residents there at the same time as you and your brothers. I only know this because the 1950 census results (released less than 12 hours ago) list all of you who lived there when the census was enumerated. I’m going to order a copy of your brother’s book as soon as I get home (currently riding in the back seat of the car, returning from a spring break trip down south). Thanks again!

“What a DAY to Remember for ALWAYS”

This is that Photo that everyone wants to find in their collections of PHOTOS!

On the front street side of the Church where the wedding had just taken place, we see this one… a very lovely young Bride JAIME and her father, Al R. Aldrich… just looking so good, and so happy, even  after  so many  were taken, just too many Photos … before this  one was taken.

“But all is well… this is a day to be remembered for ever more!”

Just have to find another PHOTOO to post…

“Jaime’s Wedding Day”

20150404_153216

This is  –   April the 4th of 2015 –  and  Saturday morning – so this should be “FRONT PAGE NEWS” –  –

From this day forward – –  Miss Jaime Aldrich  will  and  now – and forever –  be called … Mrs. Tyler Cardwell –  –

and the best part of a story like this  is – that  they always  –  begin  with  a – – “Once upon a time…-”  –  and then –   this part of the story would be  the  “x-rated” – so there-fore I must not tell all  of the secrets of this   – – – a most wonderful part of their  story – –  – that is because if you were “LUCKY” to have been married and in Church –  – – you  would now know  – that the story continues  with –  and then…   they went on their “HONEYMOON Trip” – – and they had the most glorious  of times  – – traveling to all the great wonders of the world … – – and  then,  after having so much fun and excitement to last  them … for a very long, long  time – –  and then, like most good stories that I  had read  –

at least over a hundred  years before… – – – and even beyond…  there is always the  best part …  of endings that  come  in  all “LOVE” stories… – – and  then …   they rode off and into the “SUNSET” – – where they lived  – – “Happily”  – FOREVER and FOREVER –

and here is where I forget  – – – is it  – ???  “AMEN!…” ???   – –

or is it the other ending  – – the one you never expect to come so soon  – – -“That’s All Folks” – – – THE END! *****

The above photo is of Mr. and Mrs. Tyler Cardwell – and surrounded by the two little – beautiful Flower Girls and the “main”  MAN – – in this ceremony the RING- Bearer – everyone is patiently  waiting to be told  – where and when to move  – for the next photo – to their  next spot to stand and look pretty – and to say “CHEESE”  – if that’s what it takes to make you look exciting   – –

Everyone knows  –  that some of these photos may not turn out too good,  today – but then…  when – you  turn … old  and gray  – – 100 years from now – it is the  terrific…

“MEMORIES”   of this day … that turn on the “MAGIC” –   making your LOVE for each other  – that  will last  –   forever!!!

“All through the YEARS We Can Celebrate”

“When you like to FLY… You can never get enough!”

You know that…When ever you just say the word… that is the word that YOU are ready to FLY with me… the PLANE is ready to us, where ever you want to go… and NOW!

Everyone has a “DREAM”… and my “DREAM” is to fly when ever and forever more…  and when  ever … you are in the mood to FLY, too… just let me know, and be prepare to leave immediately!

I just can not figure out, why so many people are so satisfied to just stay in one little old nook, in a very small house and they are not really happy… when there  are mountains on this great big EARTH,  and all to be discovered if and when you will check out  all of the  advertising  of so many wonderful places to go on your vacation … and just whenever  that extra special mood decides to entice your mind with so many “DREAM” spots on this wonderful earth… to go and see and stay for awhile … just to have some special memories of all those wonderful places that you took your family and or your extra special friends!

It just seems as if .. it was just yesterday… that I first started to learn to fly, and as I remember to those days so long ago… but some of those days were filled with so much  of our FLYING the…  with all of  our exploring , all of the world beneath us as the hours just passed by so fast, and all with the enjoyment of flying… all of my special friends in  High School … were finding that they had the time to go to the Airport  to meet with me and get in the Plane that I was renting , and we would go FLYING for hours!

I was just the other day wondering … If as many as I took with me to fly all over Missouri and Illinois… have since and or over the good many years…  have even decided to learn to fly on their own and or if any ever decided to become Pilots and maybe  still fly as much as we did…. so very often… way back in the day?

It sure is good to remember all those good old days. It seems as if just yesterday… when we were graduating from High School  and since we had three acres in the Fenton area… passed the word around to friends to come to my home, as we have the outdoors  friendly grounds to “PARTY” on!

That… “GOOD WORD” Spread like wild fire!

The roads were filled with cars and students from High School.

We had three acres  and also a nice big  two horse barn in the middle of the property… so that our BAND could play some real good music and no one would be bothered with any noise!

There were too many cars and people coming … so my MOM turned out the house lights.

Would you believe that the “POLICE” came to the front door, and told my MOTHER, that she needed to turn the lights on… as there were too many  cars and people that are blocking the roads all around and are not able to find this place!

That was just one of the  very many extra FUN occasions … that we  all celebrated  … all together!
