“January 5th 1967 – 2018”

“This is one  DAY… that –  will never ever be forgotten… by me – – as long as I may live!”    Lee G. Aldrich, Sr., had been on the Saint Louis Police Department for twenty years – – and  in those years he was shot at  – – at several different times – – and because of the wounds of one  of those entanglements – – he nearly died – – but after twenty-two  days in a comma – – he just  made an extraordinary come-back to this world  – – but…  did have to take an early retirement from service – – as he needed quite a long time to recuperate.

Today… is the “Fiftieth Anniversary”   of one night of  the worse of errors that could have  ever  happened – –  Lee had been in the hospital… but since it was  going to be CHRISTMAS… soon – – they thought that they would let him go home – – to be  with us for the Holidays – –   nothing special was said to be done – – for his “HOME CARE” – – and he needed so much – –  since just two years prior  with pain in the legs and chest had to be in the HOSPITAL – – to find out what was wrong?   But while in this hospital – –  some care takers are very careless and tragedy sets in – – like no where else… as his left leg  had developed a gangrene situation after the hospital had one of the attendants     doing a procedure to determine where his arteries were clogged – – but due to negligence at the hospital – – they monitored the situation for almost a week – – but when the leg was too black and dying  – – just had to proceed with an operation – – and not knowing exactly where the internal blockage was – – had to amputate the left leg.

Not all of us…  here on EARTH  – – are here for a long duration – – sometimes some of the  “best of us”  – – are only here for a shot time – – just to let the rest of us know – – that they have  some extra LOVE to share with some of us – – but that…  they can not stay here forever – – to share that special LOVE – – but only for a short TIME – – and that is the most important part of our living here – – to learn to share the  “LOVE of LIFE” – – and sometime  again in ETERNITY – – we shall be re-united  – – if that is the perfect plan???

Since our sons were very young – – in fact this happening on the  “5th”  – – and little “AL’s” Birthday would be on the  “9th” of January  – – with the FUNERAL arrangement and everything taking place – – little “AL” did not have a BIRTHDAY PARTY  – – as was planned due to all of this upset and   the boys not having their FATHER – – I just could not plan a party.

Since the boys were so young – – I had to be sure that they would not ever forget what their “FATHER” looked like – – so I spent hours going through all of the old PHOTOS that I could find. Several PHOTOS were found – – and I went to the down-town “FAMOUS BARR STORE” – – with these PHOTOS – – to see what they could do. The PHOTO at the top of this page was selected – – a small  three by three inch photo – – and in black and white – – and  so I gave them the colors of everything in the PHOTO – –  and asked if they  could take out the background – – and if possible enlarge – – as large as would be possible?

When the store had called that  they had my request finished – – I hurried to “FAMOUS”   so fast – – this was the most beautiful and perfect  PHOTO of LEE – – and something that…  still is hanging on the wall for  the whole world to see.  The cost was only in the sixty dollar range and included the beautiful frame – –  – it looks just like an “OIL PAINING” – – and I am so proud to have everyone see “Lee Aldrich” especially his children – – so that the longest day they live – – they will always be able to remember their “FATHER”  – – and NOW also the GRAND-CHILDREN  – – and GREAT GRAND-CHILDREN – –  – – all of our memories of   “LEE ALDRICH” – – are only the best of memories… forever!     D.V.
