Dad works – Kids paid!

In the early  1940’s  – the Political Party,  my parents supported,  had a “Social” outdoor gathering on the corner property of Fair Ave. and  Lee Ave.,   near  the  FairGround Park.  This was before  ‘TV’,  and everybody had plenty of  Family-Time, together to eat   –  drink  –  and organize with a  Winning  Strategy, in mind for all the right candidates to be elected.

With an all day affair –  running into the evening hours  –  Catrastrpphe  Hits!  No electric!   No Lights!    “Is there anyone who can    –   Fix us up?   In a Hurry”? My Dad,  Johnny on the spot –  and to the rescue!

Restoring everything  – so quickly – wanted to pay him  –  seeing us three kids  –  said the  magical words to us – “I’m taking you to where the  “Ice Cream” is  –  you can help yourselves to all you can eat!”

Wow! This was the  best treat, ever! My brother, Denny and I, were in competition , to see   ‘WHO’ ,  could eat the most?    Denny won!   I don’t know where he put it?

In Touch with You!

“When you check through your file of memorabilia, Grandma,  –  do you come up with any inspirational thoughts or ideas?”   “Yes I do.”  Take a look  at this ‘note’, I received about four months , after ‘Someone , very Dear to me – passed away.    The first line, ” Please call me ASAP, regarding “xxxx”, I could have contacted  sooner, but” – the rest you can read is really “unacceptable nonsense.”

Everyone , today, seems to be on a ,Fast Race Track  –  going no where –  Destination Unknown,  and with attitude of   “I don’t care!”   Maybe we could blame the “electronics”,  we use. There’s no ‘Living Life’, in the buttons, pushed on the key pads and abbreviated ‘Lingo’ – we all could be  ‘Robots’?

What ever happened to teaching children, in the early grades at school – how to write a nice letter, with the importance of  beautiful handwriting?  When  someone receives such a letter –  “they are so happy ” –  It’s like receiving a  Vitamin dose  of  long-life! Keep the letters coming…    Make my Day!

“Docter’s Orders”

A – Word to the Wise,  if you keep in mind early on, there is no one to come in and pickup the pieces, when you meet,  Mr. Disaster!  When you learn the  Rules of a new Game –  you find you are able to  play and often you find  ‘Your – Self’ ahead of the  ‘Other  Plyers’, since  You are Winning!

The same in the,  ‘Game of Life’, anything and everything  ‘You’ buy, that  you feel you want – need, or tell yourself  – you must have. More than likely, there is a big investment,  and this  ‘item’,will in some way  – make you  – more of yourself  – to yourself and peer group. Guess what?  No one cares!

Up keep  – what’s  that? Take time to read the,  ‘book of instructions! ‘  #1. change the oil!  #2. change the oil!   Check your tires and check your fluids,   You  – can do it!  Log and keep your records  – Do the same for  “You”  –  Take;   Cod liver oil,   for Your  “Joints”     You and vehicle  –   “Good to Go.”

Rejoice!

If you are reading this today,  the 4th of July,  Rejoice and be Glad!  You are an  American, living on American soil, which was blessed by  Our Creator!

Your  Fore-Fathers,  from all parts of the world, wanted  something better for their  families, and fought all kinds of hardship, because they had  a Dream, with a  Vision of a better Life for all posterity.

My  great Grandparents, came here  because of the potato famine, and poor working opportunities in England and Ireland. They were not,  ‘slackers’!  They came here fully- motivated to work and work around the clock, regardless of their age till they could provide well for family and families they generated.

My  gratitude, to all of my past generations, for being firm believers in God, Family, and Freedom – for their  inspiration, promoting all to get a  good education – the learning tool most needed in this world  – Work –   One must work  – for self – family – and a great  Country!   God Bless America!

4th of July – Celebrate

Americans !   Come to the aid of your Country –  Celebrate!   While taking an active part  in seeking those who have, and will continue,  with our  Best interest at Heart. It took hard-working men and  the cooperation of even the Rivals, to help in the United Cause  of our Forefathers, when they  decided they had enough —   Taxation without Representation. We are in that same boat, now!

We are in need of help:  We the people have to get our Country, turned around, with the right people,  put in office, and with the original ideas put back to work, that  made in America, made us #1.

How could we forget the God of All, that without His direction, our forefathers would not have  sought out,  a place to Worship, without the interference  of Big Government. Now without Prayer  –  Repentance , and a resolve to change  our greedy – evil ways  where do we   think  we and our Country are headed??

Celebrate!  The 4th of July,  by including the will of our Creator, directing our Path —  Together  —  United!

Kid’s Song, con’td.

In  1967-1968,  I was working  10pm/7am shift,  for the Telephone Co.,  because you would receive extra pay for the late hours and could park free,  right behind the building. You would be surprised with the amount of phone traffic during the night, requiring a lot of operators.

But, one night, it was on the quite side and  ‘Big Mary’,  an operator for a good many years, and an entertainer on the side, partaking with a group  that did entertaining for the men and women in the service,  at near and surrounding  Military Facilities – started  up one of her sing/song routines.

So,  I chimed in with “Mairzy Doats”,  and thinking I’m singing the right words, and then,  telling of my Aunt Irene, teaching my brothers and  me,  shortly after it came out in the 1940’s.

“Big Mary“, ask me if I really ‘knew’??, the real words or what I was saying?? Of course I had no idea —   So, all this time since the 1940’s, till  this night , I was clueless, about  the Mares. Goats  and Oats?

“ONE”, that would be , “ME”, is still never to old to , learn a lesson!
