To Vote or Not To Vote?

The Missouri Democratic Committee sent  a “Flyer” out to all Current  Residents and this is my view after reading!  Just under my address, they have this statement; The National School Lunch Program ensures  650,000 Missouri elementary  school children are hungry to learn instead of just hungry.

Starting with page one (1) are pictured  four (4) Republican Senators,  “WHO ” voted  for a total of 26 times for the school lunch program.  And under that statement a large picture   of four (4) students with their lunch trays and smiling faces.  The food on their  trays is not nutritious,  nothing wholesome enough to increase “brain” incentive or power?

Pages 2 and 3 spell out the “Hate”  message,  against a Republican Senator  who opposes federal spending. America is too deep in debt!  So, what’s  wrong with someone who  understands  that America has to stop spending!   Also, center spread page,  a large picture of  a young boy holding  a tray of lunch, an apple, juice, milk and a white bun clearly seen, what kind of proper lunch is this? The boy’s face tells the story, his hair almost covers his eyes, “I don’t want to be here! On this same picture, looks like high scholars, two with milk cartons, and the boys  at  the next  sitting area,  one has his feet in the face  of another with hamburger at mouth trying to eat? (poor  photo staging)?

The  “Flyer ” message is that,    Senator Todd Akin’s words and views are too extreme for Missouri.   My message is that  we  need  to elect more people with words and views similar to those of “Todd Akin’s!”

Missouri’s U.S. Senate race is shaping up as one of stark contrasts — and a dream matchup for both Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill and her newly minted Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Todd Akin.

Within hours of Akin winning the Republican nomination, McCaskill was casting him as a conservative extremist who would jeopardize seniors’ health care and retirement savings while putting college out of reach for all but the rich. Akin countered by portraying McCaskill — one of the most vulnerable Democratic incumbents in the nation — as a budget-busting, tax-hiking, big-spending liberal.

The clash of ideals is welcomed by both candidates. In fact, McCaskill’s ads highlighting Akin’s conservative credentials helped persuade some people to vote for Akin in Tuesday’s primary against self-financing businessman John Brunner and former Missouri Treasurer Sarah Steelman, who had been endorsed by Sarah Palin. Akin won 36 percent of the vote, compared with 30 percent for Brunner and 29 percent for Steelman.

McCaskill, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, immediately began targeting Akin for the November general election by using his own words against him. She launched a website Wednesday featuring video clips in which Akin expresses opposition to federal student loans and the minimum wage, says he doesn’t like the Social Security program and supports changes to Medicare that could include vouchers for people to buy insurance policies.

“Todd Akin is out of the mainstream,” McCaskill said as she kicked off her campaign with a news conference at a Kansas City sheet metal fabricator. A sign touting her as “a senator on our side” was propped on a raised forklift.

“We’re going to prove to Missourians that Todd Akin is out of touch with their problems, out of touch with the pain that they feel, and out of touch with the views that they hold dear,” she said.

Akin contends it is McCaskill who is out of touch — and to the left — of most Missourians. His prime example: McCaskill’s support for President Barack Obama’s health care law, which received a symbolic vote of disapproval when Missourians passed a 2010 ballot measure rejecting government mandates for people to have health insurance. Akin wants to repeal the federal health care law.

Akin also accuses McCaskill of voting “to bust the budget” by backing Obama’s 2009 stimulus act and says she supports “job-killing red-tape regulation,” although he doesn’t go into a lot of specifics.

“If she’s a moderate, I sure don’t want to run into a liberal,” Akin said in an election night interview with The Associated Press. An Akin spokesman said the candidate planned no public events before ramping up his campaign again next week.

While Akin replenishes his campaign account, conservative groups are keeping the pressure on McCaskill.

“Grandson Makes Grandma’s Day”

“YOU heard that “JOKERS ARE WILD” – – Well … what do you think of this “JOKER”  – – – that I am standing next to?”

Several years ago , when at work, I was bragging to fellow workers and showing them the  “prize”  I won and  am thanking  “The Lord” for giving me such a talented  grandson! My grandson,  Alan  Aldrich has such good ideas,  when it comes to me asking him  to put on paper, something I have in my brain and I am describing, and expecting him to show me  my thoughts in drawings? He does  just that! Then in my case we have to think up just the right words to make the drawing.  A slogan – words and pictures  –  is what I am after. All this is for a “Contest” at work Alan helped me to be  one of the “Winners!”

The gal, in the cubical next to mine , Jane Amati, came over  wanting to find out if I could get my grandson, Alan to make a “Court Jester” maybe 6-foot tall, to hang on one of the pillars in our section?  And she would buy and bring the construction paper, if he would? Also, the “Court Jester” had to have one of those three-pointed type headpieces. Alan said he would  try , and he made some rough drawings to see what I thought and they looked good to me so we work on it, I mostly looked and then had to go to bed.

The next morning , there “It” was,  all ready to go to work!  Jane could hardly believe that Alan was  able to get  “It”  done!  So we started to hang “It”  on the  entrance pillar  on the isle of our section at work and on the next couple of days , workers in our section were bringing other goodies to hang. With the “Court Jester” in full color, and movable parts, our isle at work looked like  “Bourbon St., New Orleans  –  Mardi Gras ”  style!

The “Court Jester” looked  so good, we  had to leave  “It”  up,  for months   as other departments  were  sending  people  over   to have   their   picture   taken with  Alan’s, “Court Jester!”

When the Schools encourage “Story Writing” in the early grades of school, I  feel that this is one  of  the   best lessons  taught!  For first graders’  to write a story and on the opposite page,   illustrate,  interpret the words  they wrote,  with a drawing filled in with  colorful paints,  it’s amazing!

To have each student’s book  bound into  a hard cover book, with their picture  and name of their teacher  and school  – truly a treasure  –  to be  kept forever!  And,  I am one of those “Grandmas”  that keeps and saves  everything , my children and grandchildren bring home from school.

I was just telling someone about the books,  and this one,  by Jaime Aldrich, and  her  title, “Changes Around Us” and they wanted to know what it was about?   So,  I started reading and describing the matching drawings. “No Way!”   “She is  super- smart to even think about the ‘Seasonal Changes’ and describe  everything so well!”  It makes me feel so good  to receive   such excellent comments   about my grand-children’s   books   –  my  Best Treasures!     “To My Family”   and     “I Love You,”   is   what Jaime   wrote on  her Dedication Page!

The best thing in life is Family! What is the next best?  Children and Grand Children  are of course  like receiving “Gold Stars”  on your report card!  The road we are on, –  on our journey through life is mysterious,  since we travel   without maps   to direct our path  –  destiny unknown?    We move to this location, this house, this school, and what is our “Guiding Light?”

On my book shelf,  I found two (2) of my favorite books! The first book title is “Animals” written and illustrated by  “Alyssa Aldrich,” in the second grade. She ,  of course writes about each animal, and one of her favorite’s is the  “Dolphin” with information so complete and  descriptive, that the reader has informed food for thought!

Then without a doubt, Alyssa uses her artistic ability  in colorful paints, to put a real live looking animal  in her book, forever!   What really takes my breath away, is her dedication page.  “To My Grandma”  that would be me!   She also wrote in the book how much effort she put into the book because she knew how proud I would be of her!  I am so very proud of Alyssa  – today  – tomorrow  – and forever!

Eve Karen, remembered!

It’s not every day you receive a mysterious message from the great beyond?  While looking for just one folder,   of old information , fifty years  or so old,  opened up an even older folder.  This folder  of information that I haven’t seen for years, was of pure amazement!  In this folder was a list of story titles, and stories my sister, Eve Karen wrote  when she was maybe seven years old.

My sister, Eve Karen died two (2)  weeks before  her 50th birthday. She had a very rare  form of cancer, can not remember the correct name of it, but it was like the younger son’s of the “Cartwright Family”  on the TV show “Bonanza.” She received this diagnosis around  “Thanksgiving” and went to the hospital thinking she would be there just a couple of weeks, but one crazy thing happened after another, with her dying in the last week of January. This was almost twenty years  ago!

Getting back to  the stories that she wrote, as a kid, she had real talent!  These stories would make up a nice “childrens’ story book.” A project to publish her stories  in her name would be a good fund raiser  to help find a cure.  It’s a real shame , when good talent  dies too soon   –  too early!

Remember Now and Always!

Many of your neighbors are displaying “Yard Signs” on their front lawns  that read:  God Loves You  –  He Always Has  –  He Always Will!   It is my feeling,  in this day , and at this point in time,  that every person on this earth declare  now  –  if  you are  a  true follower  of Almighty God,  Yahweh, and His Word!

Number  “ONE” issue in America is “Abortion,”  and the way that it is being done is an abomination to “Our Creator ” of all life. Reading and listening to all the  “Newscasts” spelling out the graphic horror of those performing the abortions.   It is impossible for me to believe that we, all across America,  are not revolting with intense disgust at this  “Bloodshed” performance on our young girls  –  killing babies!

On “Radio Station  91.5 FM”,  I heard Pastor David Jeremiah,  quote  from PS 139:13-16, which I followed up with reading a couple of times and feel that  everyone  in this world needs to read and I strongly urge that you let all your  “Love Ones” know how much they are loved and especially all families expecting “Babies!”

It   is  in the,   “BOOK”  –  God loved  you   before you  were  ever a thought, “to be”    –  He always  has     –   He always Will!
