Take Time Out! To Read!

How many people today, can remember back to when there was  “No  TV”, and none  of the “Electronic  hand-held items  glued to everyone’s  hand?”

I was talking with someone who was asking me why I did not  have a  “cell phone’, as if   –  if  you do not have one  –  you  just are not living?  With everyone so important today  –  that they must be in constant  contact with the world  – “I’m sorry  –   that just is not the road for me!”

In those good old days  – when you could  hear yourself think –  I had a very secret place   – cosy, comfortable spot  –  a place to be all by myself!   In my  “Mother’s House”  in the living room was this upholstered  side chair – plush and comfortable.  I would sit and spin my legs  up  and over one arm-rest and cosy myself in the corner and it  was like a recliner, but ever so much more,  holding me so secure in pure comfort. Hours  and   more  hours  –  I was there reading.

Have to tell you of the longest reading books, I finished reading  there.  Check out this book, “The Wide Wide World” – this book I’m guessing has 600 pages, but once you start reading   –  it just keeps you  glued  – you can hardly put it down to get a bite  of food!   The other I still remember is,    “The Girl of the Limber lost”  – something I just could not stop, after starting to read.  Both books are very good and once you start to read  –  you’ll find like I did  – a comfortable  and secret place all your own  – “It’s Wonderful to read  Good Books!”

Make “Mail” Exciting!

When you go out to the  “Mail Box” in the morning  – do you walk in your regular old sad-sack  self not really expecting ,  anything?

As long as I remember, I like to add “stuff” to the front of the envelope and all the best of paste on stuff on the back side.  Why send “Birthdays Cards and exciting  Wishes”  in an old drab looking envelope? Why  not  decorate the outside of the card   –  so your love-one will start getting excited about the contents  –  as soon as they retrieve the mail,  from the mailbox.

“Myself, as old as I am   –   loves the mail  with all the decorating   add-on’s you can possibly add! When I take the mail from the mail-box,  I give it a flip this way and that , and if I find  something with “excitement” all over it  –  my feet would win in any race back in the house – just  to discover what  ‘treasure’ lies inside!”

Try  this way of sending your love ones something to really talk about. You will find “your ears ringing”    ’cause you just made someone’s  day brighter and really worth living.

Proverbs 15:15 He that has a cheerful  heart, has a continual feast!

“Three Cheers for Grand-Children”

The month of “May” is wonderful! Looks like everything is coming up  “roses” as the most beautiful flowers , you would ever want to see. Just have to say  that  all is well and lovely,  to me! Must be  that I am feeling better after seeing the  “Doctor”  – yesterday. It is so good to have  “good news”  and  lots of “little happy thoughts”  –  per the art instructor on Channel Nine, years ago?

One  “Birthday” this week  over and done,  and now a “Big Birthday Celebration” coming up this weekend,  for my youngest  “Grand-Daughter Jaime!” When you  are young and happy and it is your birthday, it is as if you are winning the  “Lottery”! Just thinking about it, today, tomorrow, and then !  “OH I can  hardly think about it   –  it is just  so  exciting  – just can hardly contain all  this excitement in this “old bag of bones”  that has already seen too many exciting  events,  in my lifetime  – keeps the “old bag of bones,”    young heart!  And I sure hope this kind of feeling lasts, forever!

My thought is that – the secret of long life, and to be happy while getting old is    “Having several generations of family living near by to always be at the new and youngest generation’s  “Celebrations!”    That’s what I call the “good life”  and a long and prosperous one at the same time!

Thank you  “Almighty God” for giving me the ‘best of  best’  of families,  forever and forever!

Happy Birthday “Gail”

Today is the birthday of one of my oldest and dearest friends, Gail M.  Pidgeon. Just to give you an idea of how old  our friendship is  – we  were classmates in grade school.  So,  “You”  do the math?

Happy Birthday to  YOU,  Happy Birthday to  YOU!   Happy Birthday  “Dear  Gail”   Happy Birthday to YOU!

Wishing  YOU many more,  also wishing  Almighty God to  bless  YOU  with  all of the best of blessings for a very healthy and long  happy life with all your family and friends, forever!

At our age all I really know is that we must always keep the Power and Glory  of God  –  first and foremost in our thoughts  –  looking toward the  day we will all be together in Heaven!

“Call Mother Today!”

It’s not too late to call “Mother” today!  Almost seems like a hundred years ago when I worked at good old  “Southwestern Bell Telephone Co.”   Today, Mother’s Day was the #1  day for all telephones  being used to call  the best person on the earth, your Mother!

When I was working  back then as a “telephone operator”  – the best way to make the most money  would be to work for someone who just had to have “Mother’s Day” off, especially if  YOU  had already worked  the previous two  “Sundays.”  Three “Sundays” worked in a row , and your would received three times  your pay rate for that day. Not a bad paycheck to take home that week!

So, if you are mot going to be with your “MOM” today   –   CALL!  Also, if your  “Grandma” is still here  on   earth, don’t let the day  end ,   “Grandma” will really appreciate that call from you. Calls to  your  “Grandma”  are worth more than a million dollars to her!     And God will bless you!

May 12th, 2013 “Mother’s Day”

Back to writing, sure glad to have the most wonderful person I ever knew   –  and knew  “ME” best  – my “Mother, Marie B. McClarren  to wish a  “Happy Mother’s Day!”

If only you, dear Mother could have lived a little longer? So many new advances in medicine  –  some new things that you could have had to make your life a little easier and better for you   –  for all you did for our family.  Living today, and with a small amount more of wisdom, or so ” I Hope”    that I  have acquired over these many years of learning lessons every day – I think and understand so much more about the life each of us has here, and find that really   –  while we are here we are all working toward one end.  And that is that when we complete this journey, here  – we  have learned that the straight and narrow path that leads us back  to “ever lasting life  with “Our Creator!”

Thank you  “MOM” for setting my feet  on the “Road to Heaven”  to be with  ‘YOU’   forever!   “I LOVE YOU!”
