“Technology – where is it?”

What more can I say –  – – some how “MONDAY” was not a good day for me –  – – the computer… would not work – and …no matter what was done – it  – – was of  no  help???

“Well  – – this sure does look like me on “MONDAY” –  and the “computer” would not work…  give another look at the face… that is the way I looked and felt – I felt  – – down in the dumps!”

Guest Post from a Granddaughter

Hi! My name is Jaime and I am one of the granddaughters of Ellen. Today she is having some “technical difficulties” with her computer so I am sharing a guest blog post today.

I know you hear stories everyday from my Grammy but today I will tell you a little about her—from my point of view.

I am sure everyone probably thinks they have the best Grandma in the world, but I really do! She is so much fun to be around and I always learn so much every time we talk. She has had such an eventful life and always has a story to tell. If you listen closely, you will see– there is so much she can teach you! The best part though, is HOW she tells her stories. She is very enthusiastic in each word she says. She EMPHASIZES certain words to get her point across and make her stories very interesting. My Grammy is such a loving person. When we were little, I have so many memories of Grammy playing “school” with us and reading us all the mother goose nursery rhymes. We had so much fun! And still today she always makes our family get together’s  a blast! She’s always making up new games for us to play and just have a good time! Just being around her puts you in a wonderful mood!

I hope you all enjoy her many stories as much as our family does.

Stay tuned… she will be back to share more!

“Daddy -o” – do you hear ME…”

img232

“Do you hear me “Daddy-o” – way up there… where you are… – this special song is just for you…”

“Not every “special” friend of your’s can stand on their “tippy-toes” and let out with a “howl”  – – the kind…of a “Hound-Dog” special  “howl” – –  the  only kind –  that is music…  to your ears..”

“Do you remember… when you would come up from Florida – – every year – you would get your “extra-special”  harmonica out  – – and we would all chime in  – – on the “songs and sing”  sweet melodies – to the high heavens above… – remember… we never ever got a complaint – – –  in fact we would  – – just seem to “sail”  –  or when “MICKEY” was driving – – – should I have said  “FLY”  through one STATE after… another  – making really good time getting to ole  STATE  of  Missouri  for the “FOURTH of JULY” special activities…???”

“We… old  “Hound-Dogs” – are sometimes like the old elephant – she never forgets… that one time…when she was pulled over –  – did the “Officer” ask if you knew that you were “FLYING” low – and with your quick thinking – you pulled out your badge – and told the nice “Officer” that you were needed in Missouri –  – for a very special case – and  – – we all took a slower approach… to finish the journey…

Is it not  – just simply “golden-ed”  to still remember all the good times – – – of yester-year –  – and still be able to think  – – that we should still remember your “BIRTHDAY” –   – – – So… with good music in the background… we are singing “HAPPY BIRTHDAY ” to you…  “DEAR  LEE!”

“I’d tried…. DADDY DEAREST…but”

img231

“I did try – and even tried again… but… NOBODY can fill…  YOUR SHOES!”

“Everybody was here and each of them gave it – – the old ‘college’ try… but…there is “NOBODY” around here to fill your boots… now that you are gone…”

“I took a look at what everybody… was doing…  – – – looks like these are some real good boots… just made for “walking” in comfort –  and since “NOBODY” –   can do “justice” in your boots… I just thought I would make these com-fee boots … my new HOME!”

“Mr. Justice – the one and only man of the law – If I take real good care of these “boots” – will it be “OKAY” – –  if I keep these boots warm  – by my taking a “NAP” in them  – – – and I’ll be doing this just for you!”

“Do You Know what – DAY – it is – TODAY?”

img230

“It is August 1st – 2015”  – – “It is “DADDY’s Birthday!”

BUT… the day this photo was taken  – – was in 1962 and most probably near the end of January – – –  because little baby Al was born in January! That is “DADDY” holding baby “AL” and  next to “DADDY” is little Lee, Jr., –  and the SUN must be shinning in the wrong direction – – as no one is able to open their eyes!

This looks like the front yard – – as the sidewalk is right there in front of Lee’s feet –  – that is  – – so that he can run into the house  with baby,  AL – – –  do not want him to get too much SUN –  – but just outside  – long enough to get a couple of photos –  – so  – that in a hundred years from NOW – we will all know what we all looked like – way back – and when??

Even – when I was a baby – – my parents took a few pictures of us kids –  – that is my two brothers and sister – which I am forever – grateful and thankful – – – so I do hope that more FAMILIES – will remember that  – and if at all possible – take a few pictures of the kids –  – – they will forever LOVE – you – that they have some old pictures of you, too –   – the parents – and also – some pictures of what they looked like and it will help them  – – with their memory of the FAMILY – the best of FAMILIES!

“Happy Birthday Lee” – sure hope you are having a real good time  – “UP THERE” – – with all  of your FAMILY and FRIENDS!
