“Play the Old Songs, One More Time”

“One More Song for Lovers!”

Sometimes when I start to think about something that happened a hundred years ago…  my mind wonders into other departments, and like all of us “GRANDMAS”…  we like for everybody to be in “LOVE!”

Usually “LOVERS” have a song for all of those important times of their “LIFE” together – so my brain started focusing on another “SONG” that Lee and I enjoyed dancing too…  and I just Love the way he would sing those words, to me.

The song, “Just the way you look, tonight” – those words if sung to you – any time of the day – or even in the middle of the night – just whenever – will keep your marriage, “TOP” drawer  and forever!

You can find the song on your computer  and save that spot,  so that whenever you need a “pick-me –upper”… this is the song that will do it.

Check out…  if your favorite singer or recording artist has it available and listen to it?

Then check out “TONY BENNETT”  so far “TONY BENNETT” will have the musical medicine that your marriage  just might need?

Since my husband Lee is long time gone – and I never wanted for him to be forgotten by anyone, had an old Photo of Lee, enlarged and done in color – so that no one can ever forget what he looked like.

But, after a while – when you never ever hear the voice – you almost feel as if the one LOVE of your LIFE is slowly fading away. I do have a copy of tapes – but I only wish that I had more – so that is why  – I like to remind – “you the reader” – that before it ever gets too late for you and the LOVE of your LIFE – get some of your favorite memories recorded and photographed – so that – for the longest day you may live – you will never ever be without a reminder of your LOVE for each other!       “FOREVER!”

“Time and Tide wait for no man” …  if I heard that once …  it might have been a million or more times,  that’s what my MOTHER…  said to me, so I have to pass-it on to you.

There just is no “TIME”…  like the present “TIME” …  for all of us to get the really important things done.

What we do “TODAY” our families will love and remember  forever… and that we were always thinking about them and we will know that all of our LOVE for one anther will be the true substance of all our “MEMORIES!”

Remember  this…  “When I grow too old too “DREAM” …  I’ll have you to remember” then,  just start  recalling  the words to …  “JUST THE WAY YOU LOOK, TONIGHT!”

Those two songs for us … Grandmas and Grandpas, will make the world go around  … and in “PEACE!”

NATIONAL PECAN COOKIE DAY””

National Pecan Cookie Day - September 21

Each year on September 21st, people across the United States celebrate National Pecan Cookie Day.

This delicious cookie can be eaten and enjoyed morning, noon and night. If you’re a pecan snacker, another pecan-related celebration is National Pecan Day on April 14.

Pecan is an Algonquian word, meaning “a nut requiring a stone to crack.” A member of the hickory family, the pecan is native to central and southern United States.

One of the best ways to enjoy the celebration is by having freshly baked pecan cookies straight from the oven. Add a cold glass of milk to wash it down, and you’ll have found near perfection. Joining a friend while savoring the buttery goodness is even better. The variety of recipes for soft or firm cookies astounds most bakers. The toasted nuts and sugary sweetness melts in your mouth, keeping you coming back for more.  They delight, and when stored properly, they stay fresh, too.  But pecan cookies won’t last long when they’re baked right.

Gather up the ingredients for your favorite recipe. Whether soft and chewy or the dunking kind, bake up a batch for Pecan Cookie Day.

“Remembering my Mother and a Special Photo”

Just the other day, I was showing someone… some of  the many PHOTOS on a wall  and also… more Photos in frames,  to go on another wall, and  also telling them… WHO , When and WHERE… just as much as I could  quickly remember about the person and any and all related facts regarding each and every photo.

Well, there was one PHOTO that was of special interest to one person.

That PHOTO is the one to follow… which is of my MOTHER. They did not see that photo before, and  so, I replied… that if they would have  checked out  my web-site…  they would have seen it!

So… once again my Mother’s Photo, which follows… and it is not in the frame… that it is is in  as it is hanging on the wall, and that we were talking about… but,  and as I say… is a most terrific Photo in my book!

As a nosy person, when I was young and living at home with my Mother… I would go through old boxes of stuff … that was on her shelves,  that were too high for my Mother to reach, and she never did check  any of this  old stuff, as I am guessing…. she did not want anyone to see, that which she did not like!

When I had discovered this PHOTO… I thought it was just  so terrific and so,  I asked my MOM about it.

Why was it not in a frame for everyone to see and hanging  up some place nice?

My Mom just told me to put it back away,  where it was and to forget about it as… it just was not good enough to be seen!

I did put it away, but… I never forgot  just exactly where. And then when it came to the time that we were moving… I put this photo inside an envelope and put it with some of my  very own PHOTOS… just so that I would always know, just where it was.

After a couple of moves and into my own home… this special photo of my MOM… was put in a special frame and hung on the wall for all to see!

Marie Brady – 1918

img125

Miss Marie Brady  – This month will be  her  120th –  Birthday!

On the back of this photo is stamped for everyone to see… that if you want more copies of this “PHOTO”  – the charge would be  $1.00 and or 6 copies for $5.00 –  Now you have an idea of how old the photo is.

I always,  liked this photo of my  Mother “Marie Brady McClarren”   – but… she did not like it – why ??? –  she did not say   and I  could – never ever get a reason?

So, today in Heaven – I know that they are singing and dancing – and they are dancing the “Charleston” – that was “MOM’s” favorite dance – those “Roaring Twenties” and the days of the “FLAPPERS”… must have really  been so much fun for those who like to kick up their heels?

“Happy Birthday” …  to the  “BEST of  MOTHERS …  and wishing lots more … with many more Happy Birthdays  celebrations  in Heaven!

“Oklahoma did it anyway.”

Think Arizona almost did something horrible?
Well “Oklahoma is doing it anyway,”
From Glenn Stanfield:
Oklahoma is the only state that Obama did not win even one county in the last election…
While everyone is focusing on Arizona ’s new law,
look what Oklahoma has been doing!!!!
An update from Oklahoma :
Oklahoma law passed, 37 to 9 an amendment to place the Ten Commandments on the front entrance to the state capitol.
The feds in D.C., along with the ACLU, said it would be a mistake.
Hey this is a conservative state, based on Christian values…! HB 1330
Guess what………. Oklahoma did it anyway.
Oklahoma recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants, and ship them back to where they came from unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen.
They all scattered. HB 1804.
This was against the advice of the Federal Government, and the ACLU, they said it would be a mistake.
Guess what………. Oklahoma did it anyway.
Recently we passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegal’s to the Oklahoma database, for criminal investigative purposes.
Pelosi said it was unconstitutional SB 1102
Guess what……… Oklahoma did it anyway.
Several weeks ago, we passed a law, declaring Oklahoma as a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives. Joining Texas , Montana and Utah as the only states to do so.
More states are likely to follow: Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, Carolina’s, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida.
Save your confederate money, it appears the South is about to rise up once again. HJR 1003
The federal Government has made bold steps to take away our guns. Oklahoma, a week ago, passed a law confirming people in this state have the right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles.
I’m sure that was a setback for the criminals
The Liberals didn’t like it — But….
Guess what……….. Oklahoma did it anyway.
Just this month, the state has voted and passed a law that ALL drivers’ license exams will be printed in English, and only English, and no other language.
They have been called racist for doing this, but the fact is that ALL of the road signs are in English only.
If you want to drive in Oklahoma , you must read and write English. Really simple.
By the way, the Liberals don’t like any of this either
Guess what…who cares… Oklahoma is doing it anyway.
If you like it, pass it on, if you don’t then delete it…
Thanks Guess what : the people I’m sending this to ,
will send it on.
Well, at least the ones who love and believe in freedom will.

And I did.

“TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY”

TALK LIKE A PIRATE DAY - September 19

Talk Like a Pirate Day sails away annually on September 19th.

All you bilge rats, Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrgh! As you are out and about on September 19th, don’t be surprised if people are saying, “Ahoy Matie,” “Avast,” “Aye, Aye Capt’n,” “Land ho!” “Hornpipe,” and many other pirate-like phrases, because it’s International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

While ordering your coffee in the drive-thru, ask if they have change for gold bullion. Try testing your pirate language out at the library when asking for the location of Moby Dick. The pirate language always fairs well in rough seas. Settle a debate with “I’m right or I’ll walk the plank!”

When the boss gives you a new project, “Aye, aye, Capt’n,” is the correct response. However, beware calling the boss any frothy names. The goal of the day is not to lose your job.

To polish your persona, practice a swagger, limp or squint. Long days at sea give pirates unique qualities.

HOW TO OBSERVE #TalkLikeAPirateDay

Anchor’s away! Get your sea legs and a barrel o’ rum. Feel free to join in anytime with your own version of Pirate-ese. Learn more on how to talk like a pirate here. Use #TalkLikeAPirateDay to share on social media.

“AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY”

AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY – September 18

The Air Force Birthday on September 18th commemorates the establishment of The United States Air Force.

Almost from the moment the Wright brothers found a way to soar with the birds, the military incorporated aeronautical pursuits into their missions. However, the Air Force did not become a separate branch of the Armed Forces until September 18, 1947.

The military established the Signal Corps as the first aeronautical force in the United States. During the Civil War, the first missions provided visional communications via flags and torchlight from aerial balloons. Even so, the Signal Corps didn’t become an official branch of the Army until 1863. Its creation made way for more aeronautical training and study.

Since then, military air service has gone through many names and commands. A few examples are the Air Service of the US Army, the Air Corps, and the Army Air Force. Finally, in 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act establishing the United States Air Force as a separate branch of the military.

As a result of pursuing advanced technology and superior airmen, the US Air Force emerged as the swiftest tactical force ready to deploy anywhere at a moment’s notice. On September 18, celebrate the airmen and women who are on watch every day.

HOW TO OBSERVE #AirForceBirthday

Recognize the military personnel in the Air Force. Give a shout-out and share your experiences as part of the Air Force. Use #AirForceBirthday to post on social media.

AIR FORCE BIRTHDAY HISTORY

The 1947 National Security Act restructured The United States military and intelligence agencies in the aftermath of World War II.  On September 18, 1947, President Truman signed the National Security Act establishing the U.S. Airforce on board the first Air Force One, a VC 54C.
