“Remembering DADDY – – His BIRTHDAY is 02/02/2018”

When enlarging a PHOTO – – that is almost  a hundred years old – you can zero in on the person…  to see – – that which you can not  be sure of  – –  for instance…  is this really what I think I am seeing or  not?

WHY…  I  am saying that  – – is…  because my MOTHER said that she always thought…  that my FATHER looked  like “George Raft.”  But… then and of course – – I was not alive, then  – –   at the age of this PHOTO – – I only knew what my Father looked like – – after several years of living and to me – – when I was old enough to discern the “LOOKS”  and what I could tell – – my FATHER looked a lot  like “Clark Gable” – – because when they both  were photographed  while smoking a cigarette  – – I could see their resemblance. – – An a later  item that I found out – – they were both from a very nearby town in “OHIO” and only days apart on their birthdays.

My FATHER always like music – – we always had music on at home – – and a record player with all of the favorites – – of which I still have – – they are all old – – and there are some that I have  added to the collection – – but with time and the years going by so fast – – everything that was large – – is now small  – – and most people do not save  stuff … and they certainly do not collect – the old time memories of years gone by.

My DAD sure does look good … ready to play a tune and dance – – and of course most men in the “SERVICE” – – do the same on their  “leave”  time off.

Another old PHOTO of  my DAD – – this one he carried in his wallet – – till the day he died.

In   “DAD’s”  wallet for so many years – – I am just surprised…  that  I was able to save the best part of this photo.  When “DADDY was in the “SERVICE” – – he soon was working in the KITCHEN – – and in looking at both of these PHOTOS – –  It is easy to see – – what a difference having “FOOD” available…  does for the figure.

If I remember correctly… my DAD went into the “SERVICE” earlier – – as there were too many mouths to  be fed at home – – and with  the “Crash ” happening in AMERICA – – everyone that could … went – – where ever…  there would be FOOD. I still have his old “PAPERS” – – and he did enlist in the ARMY – – three times – – each  time for a two-year stint.

Everyone that could – – did what they could to hold their  “FAMILIES”  together – – some very wealthy men – – those that lost everything due to the  “CRASH”  were jumping out of windows …  from  some of the tallest of buildings. Times were so  bad for everyone – – rich and poor… alike – – but in those TIMES – – one  did try to do – – what ever it took… just  to stay alive!

Those “TIMES” could be…  just around the next corner – – especially if we do not find it…  in our “HEARTS”  – – to LOVE our neighbor as we LOVE our CREATOR – – by checking out HIS WORD and seeking  only the  TRUTH!         D.V.
