NATIONAL AUNT AND UNCLE’S DAY – July 26

NATIONAL AUNT AND UNCLE’S DAY – July 26

National Aunt and Uncle’s Day on July 26th honors a special set of relatives we look up to throughout our lives. During holidays, family events and sometimes sleepovers, aunts and uncles often hold an extraordinary place in our hearts. They fill our lives with fun, laughter, love and incredible memories.

This holiday provides an opportunity to spend time with our parents’ siblings we trusted and leaned on growing up.  It would be an excellent time to get out the old photo albums. Look through the pictures, and relive the memories of earlier days around the Christmas tree or at the 4th of July picnic or maybe at the beach vacation that included those special aunts and uncles in your life. Get together with your relatives and create new memories. Remind them of all the reasons you enjoy having them in your life. Celebrate the lessons they’ve taught you and share them with the next generation.

Another way to celebrate the day is by documenting family memories and history. Aunts and uncles hold many memories of growing up with our parents annd our grandparents. Sharing their stories and recording them for future generations will be a worthwhile endeavor. One way to record those stories is through StoryCorps.org.

HOW TO OBSERVE

Take the day to contact your aunts and uncles. Remember all the value they’ve added to your life and tell them about it. Share a meal, write them a note, help them the way they once supported you. Take photos with them and post them on social media using #AuntAndUnclesDay

HISTORY

“The LIFE of RILEY – Bill and Irene”

After all  these past years, at last,  a photo at home,  and resting with company!  “LOOKS LIKE THE LIFE OF  RILEY”  – – to me??

After having supper,  back in the day,  the  “MAN”   of the house,  in his  easy chair and reading the day’s newspaper, with  “company sitting around”  all  nice, cozy  and comfortable,  and “DEAR”  wife,  finally comes into the living room, having  just finished the evening dishes,  all nicely clean and put away.

NOW,  gives notice that,  there is a nice “home made dessert”  ready and waiting to be served,  just  as soon as everyone is ready,  for more  “good eats!”

That  is  our “AUNT Irene” on the left,  and the man of the house,  “UNCLE  William B. Riley”   reading  the news of the day.

So now,  before it gets too late, “AUNT  Irene”  will start to serve  something very special,   for this  special  night’s dessert,   since the  “company is FAMILY!”

Did you check out the first posted photo of  our “Aunt Irene and Uncle Bill” way back and when, I do not think that they changed too much, what do you think?

“Just in case, you could not find – check this out, for the good ole days  – early “1900’s”

“BILL and IRENE RILEY – Memory”

Here is  the young  “RILEY’s”   as we all have seen  episodes    of   “The LIFE of RILEY”   well,  just a  big  maybe  “they,  the  “Riley”  couple sitting  here, on their back porch”  were  maybe used as the typical role model?

I am wondering and thinking,   as to just exactly,  “WHY the NAME  of the RILEY’s?”   Did they use their first  names, “BILL and IRENE, or  did  they have another couple to patteren after, and did  they even know  “HOW” they  would react to each other, what was so speciasl about “RILEY”   that would entertain,   the whole wide world!
