“It is a Good MAILMAN… Working Hard””

Since today is  be kind to the “Mailman”… I just have to add my “two cents”… ony and because I also  worked for the Post Office.

In the Fall of the year, before the “Christmas Season”  starts up with lots of extra cards and packages to be delivered… the Post Office does need more workers… at least when I applied to work there…  could be maybe some  fifty or sixty years ago.

If I remember correctly … I filled out a form and took some tests and then there was  a special  test to see if you were able to lift a sack of mail… may be  close to a “one hundred pound sack of mail… you would  need to pick it up and carry it maybe “fifty feet” and put it on a chair.

Then … when a good number of people were hired… we had some classes to sit in and listen for different lengths of   time… an Instructor came in to tell you about some important subject  and some spoke so fast… I do not think  everyone even heard and or understood all that they had to say.

One Instructor came in and that which  he had to say… I do believe… that everyone remembers for all of their Life. He said  that each person needs to remember that they will be expected to pick up sacks of mail that are very heavy… and if you do not feel that you can… it would be best to say so NOW!  Both Men and Women are each expected to carry their own assigned loads… do not plan on someone else…   doing your work for you.

There was this woman that was very nice looking and very friendly to  and with all of  her co-workers… which is  a very nice thing … that is to be friendly… BUT … if you think that you will be able to have another person… help you and pick up your  extra heavy loads… Think  FIRST…   as there will be a day of reckoning…  to pay.

This  nice male friend  of hers had been so very helpful for quite some time and it seem that everything was just fine for her…  but then…  there may have been something  not going on after working hours… that this nice young man was getting in return… for being so helpful  to her during work hours.

Work started this one  FINE day as per usual… when this young lady came over to  ask her good and faithful helping friend…to give her a helping hand with an extra heavy load of “MAIL.”

This nice young man… came over to where she was… grabbed the top of her dress… pulling it down to the ground… and there she stood… for all the other workers to see her…  standing in only her underwear!

We tell all classes of  our employees this story… so if you feel that you are unable to carry out your duties with your own strength… do not feel that anyone is going to help… unless you pay them… what they are looking for… so it is better to apply for some kind of a lighter working  position … if  you feel that you can not carry your own weight!

“More power to the one that can  carry his own weight…  as everything in LIFE… comes with a price tag!
