“Did YOU, ever have a Favorite Toy”

Favorite “1940” Toy!

While talking about those  “favorite toys of the 1940’s”   that we played with… just   have to include the “Kaleidoscope!”  Do not see them  for sale, at any of the  stores that you would think they  would be found?

The  “Kaleidoscope”  was one of my favorite toys. Everywhere I went,  I was able to take  it  with me.

When we were small kids,  you were,  “to be seen,  and not heard from!”

I remember this so very well as we were house-hunting … when my parents  had sold our house,  during the  “WAR” years… just not a very  “smart move”   to make?

You just could not find,  ANY decent housing …  no apartments… if you had small children.     Small children were the same as if  “YOU”  were  bringing a case of the   “Plague”  into  any rental housing.

Nobody wanted  small kids around…  they destroyed everything!

So, while we were in a  –  house hunting  –  situation… I  did dare  to take a moment  and said,  “I’m  thirsty! ”  My father  –   SAID  –  “It’s   NOT  Thursday!”

I heard that so…  “Loud and Clear”  and  understood!    Keep my mouth shut!

And that’s just exactly  what I did.

I went back to the car for my   “Kaleidoscope” …  kept my mouth shut and had  “FUN”  looking at all of  those designs, each and every time, as I  would hardly turn  my  “Kaleidoscope!”

My brothers always had  their favorite small toys  that they carried around with them in their pockets and when they heard,  that I was not  going to get a drink of something…   they then…  also decided to just be quiet,  and not do anything … that they would  need to be corrected in any which  way.

Every day… we  kids learn lessons and this  sure was my  D-day to learn that  important lesson.

#1.  Do not interrupt adults…  when they are busy… come hell  and or high water… no matter what!

Like I said…   it is always  best to have a  “favorite toy”   with you…  just in case you are that   “KID”   that feels the need for something…  that is not available at the moment …when  the parents are so busy… with more important things… and you get that feeling of being even smaller… getting a look that could kill and or those words…  “YOU are to be seen….  and not heard from!”
