November Memories

Happy Birthday to Judy McClarren, wife of my brother Denny – Happy Birthday to Rose McClarren, wife of my brother Thomas – Happy Birthday to Char Bay, grandmother to Alyssa and Jaime Aldrich, my grand-daughters also. Have the very best “Birthday” and my wish is to have many more!

My seventh and eighth grade teacher and “NUN” of the order of Sisters of Christen Charity was Sister Margaret Mary, and if she were with us today – would be 101 years old. My Almighty God keep blessing you!

Do you remember where you were 50 years ago, on November 22, 1963 and at 12:30p.m.? The time would have to be standard time in Missouri.

We came up to Missouri, from Florida so that my husband Lee could have heart surgery. Since we would have to be here for months, was able to be re-hired with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. Lucky to be working every day and running to the hospital and so many other things that one must do each day, and two boys in grade school.

The world seems to be in a good place at that time, but most of us, the ordinary citizen, do not know all the ins and outs of the “Political World” – not like we should? Something was brewing and on November 22, 1963 – while at work, and in the lunch room, a supervisor came running in to tell us all to return and get back  as fast as possible to out positions on the switchboard! It was lit up like a “Christmas Tree” – everybody all over the globe calling with the news, “President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, in Dallas, Texas!” It was hard to believe? But, we were so busy – we did not have time to give a serious thought as to all we were hearing as we talked to all the callers? It was a day to do what needed to be done and worry about your own problems – later?

Do you remember were you were, and what you were doing 50 years ago?
