No Bounce
Late 1930’s, I was in the learning stage of life . Just looking at some old pictures, notice a very distinctive look, one that had me wondering about? When the pictures were shot – my expression indicates I’m trying to figure out what is going on – in this new world of mine?
Take the “Ice Box”, not as today’s, Refrigerator. On the bottom shelf was a wire basket full of eggs, fresh , from the farmer.
Here’s how the Story, goes; My Mother was putting food in the “Ice Box”, and the door was left open, as she was going back and forth, with stuff. Nothing in the house more interesting, or in the whole world, than a big basket , full of balls, just sitting there for me, little Mary Ellen. So. little, Mary Ellen, was she swift, grab a ball, and threw it down to bounce. No Bounce!
My Look , was completely – unbelievable? What happened?

The moral of the story is don’t play with balls at the dinner table!
