My daughter-in-law, Vickie, told me she had her money on Union Rags, in the Kentucky Derby, and now she is tickled pink with Union Rags, the Winner at Belmont Stakes, today. Vickie said that , making a jockey change made all the difference.
With jockey, John Velazquez, determined not to let being hung up against the rail, at just the right moment in the final last yards down the stretch, he was able to slip through a tight spot and win by a neck.
No Triple Crown winner , since I’ll Have Another’s, injury was announced, Friday at 1:00 p.m., and to be retired. With this news, the fans still showed up in record crowds, cheering each race, spending the same and enjoying a very good day.
It was good for everyone to enjoy watching , Union Rags do what his owners knew Union Rags, would do,“Win”!
