December Birthdays – 2013

“Happy Birthday” Lee Aldrich Jr. on the 5th! Over 50 years ago – we would have a whole lot more snow and ice on the ground at this time of year that is as I remember back to the rush to the hospital that night! It could have been because we did not have the highways that we now have, and more of us lived in the “CITY” and not so far from our work environments? Also, everyone that needed to be out in the icy weather would have chains for the tires on their automobiles.

Now that I think about the “tire chains” – I remember that the noise you would hear when outside or in the automobile – was the sound of “CHRISTMAS!”  All the ingredients for little children to know the soon “Santa” would be coming to their house! It’s the sound of those “TIRE CHAINS” that I miss.

Happy Birthday – Tom Aldrich on the 13th! When it gets closer to your birth date, will put a couple of the old photos I have from when in were serving in “KOREA” on “CHRISTMAS” of you and your dog “SHANE.” Pictures always tell a story that no amount of words can fully tell!

Cannot forget the most important “Birthday” of the month. Happy Birthday to the birth of Jesus on the 25th! The reason for this ‘season’ should be as I remember as a kid – we had more reverence for the birth of “JESUS” then – than we do today? The four weeks prior to Christmas – called Advent – had us thinking about the story of the birth of “JESUS” and the importance of us being ready to receive the “Infant Jesus”

Today, it seems that we have to be on the “LOOK OUT FOR THE BEST SALE” on this planet!  Today, I feel that we are making “LIFE” more difficult for all peoples, because they can only worry their self’s sick – with the thought of what to buy for so many friends and relatives – and then the big let down when after all the “DEBT” they will have to work on trying to pay off – will drive them crazy? And this is the “KILLER” – after all the wonderful gifts you gave – you received a whole lot of “JUNK” that you cannot use and do not want?

It seems that I may have forgotten a couple of birthdays of friends and relatives, but there is one on Christmas and that is William B. Riley, husband to my Aunt Irene Brady Riley. Happy Birthday! Back then you were “LUCKY” just to be alive, and birthdays were not thought of – and you were expected to do something good for “JESUS” – and by doing that you were happy.

Happy Birthday Phyllis Ferris, Grand-mother to Jill Rampalla, and Great grandmother to Alyssa and Jaime Aldrich on the 27th! Do not spoil the surprise – that there is to be a surprise “BIRTHDAY PARTY” for Phyllis – who will be the big 85! Congratulation Phyllis and have the best of best birthdays, ever!
