This is the week…
Everyone has certain days and years of extra special events – that have happened in the past – but – each year thereafter – those special “memories” are as fresh as the day – which they originally occurred.
If you were alive when – – “President Kennedy” was shot – you remember exactly what you were doing and where. Also, when – – “911” occurred – the whole world seem to stop – that is for “AMERICA” – and – it seems to me that these kinds of events – do make a permanent impression – and you have made many changes in your daily existence???
So, with me this week – brings “Memories” of this very week when my MOTHER – died! The death of a member of your immediate FAMILY – makes a radical change in the way you think and live – from that day – forward. In my case, a whole lot of wishes – that – I would have done lots of things differently – concerning my Mother – “what if – should have – or maybe if only this was done – would and should have” – all of these ideas that are later thought of – are of – no matter – what – in reality – nothing would have changed anything – because we have no visible – “lens for the future” and so therefore – cannot see past the nose on our face – into the future and or even beyond – – and the bottom line – we are the way we are – no matter how good our intentions – at any – latter – time of life???
To learn to be “thoughtful” of others – as we live daily – is the best way – to make our own life and that of others – especially those we LOVE – a life full of good memories – and hopefully without any regrets? With this thoughtfulness in mind – I remember that my MOTHER enjoyed walking – that is – taking long walks all around the North Saint Louis area – as she was born in that area and lived most of her life in and around many different homes – that she resided in as an infant – young school girl – even later going to business school – even when married and with each of her children – at new and different locations – and most of her immediate FAMILY – lived – and even some of the FAMILY held Political Office – so many memories of her own life – which – were always growing in that immediate area.
In those days – I would always be ready to take a long walk – and into all kinds of locations where she lived – and or FAMILY – – we would be looking at her favorite memories – and – my MOTHER would share the story of WHO – WHAT and WHY – for what we were enjoying on the walks. At the time, I did not realize that this was a history and geography lesson – of the entire area – all kinds of information – and – NOW – that I think about it – “Only wish that – I would have had a pencil and paper – wrote notes – as the brain can only remember some things – for sure?? There was so much good information – that I sometimes wish that I could remember every good and positive word – as some of the stories would make for good news – to lots of people – who would be very surprised – that – someone today can tell the facts of what has happened back then – but – I ‘m guessing that it is best to leave lots of stuff – buried – once and forever!??
Today, everybody is in such a BIG – hurry – to nowhere – and drive in a hurry – seeing nothing at all in their own neighborhoods – sure would be nice to take a walk in the nearby areas – and enjoy all the new and different and maybe even – better improvements – – – that we do not see when we “fly” by – so fast – – in the car???
