“Children -“DO” – watch us…”
This little story that I just heard today reminded me – that our little ones just may look like they are busy playing and are doing their own things – but they are monitoring our every movement – and it is registering for some time in the future – and what we get – will really open our eyes!
This story starts with the Mother – when she was not feeling very well – and whatever was making her ill – nothing that she was doing – that is for herself – was relieving the agony of the situation – but it seem that now – would be the time for bed rest – for the Mother.
Looks like the little daughter was trying to help her Mother feel better – so she would bring books to the bedside of her Mother and stay with her – trying to cheer Mother – by just being nearby – and always waiting to see if her Mother would need for her to get something – always in hopes – that what she was doing would make her Mother “all” better??
Well, this situation lasted for a couple of days – and Mother did not seem to be getting better – so, the little daughter had a “light-bulb” moment! After sitting by the Mother’s bedside – she just got up quickly – leaving the bedroom and was gone for at least a half hour – and whatever the daughter was doing – the Mother had no way of knowing?
Now, the daughter is coming into the bedroom – and she is carrying a tray with a few items and sets the tray down on the nearby bed stand. The daughter looks so cute and is working just like a little nurse – seems to know exactly what she is doing. The little daughter is bringing the cup in a saucer – freshly made tea – for her Mother. The Mother asked – “How do you know how to make tea?” The little daughter – replies – “I watch you when you are making tea!”
The Mother is drinking the tea – must taste like and look like tea – but she is wondering – just exactly – what equipment was used and how was it all put together? So, the Mother says – “tell me just the way you were able to make the tea?” The little girl comes closer to the bed and starts saying – “Just like you, I put the “TEA LEAVES” in the pan and the water – on the stove and brought that to a boil. “Then, I found the “TEA POT” – after the water was boiling – I knew that I had to strain the tea leaves out – and so I had to find the strainer?” And she continues with, “couldn’t find the strainer that you – usually use – so I had to find another strainer to use!”
Mother is drinking the tea and seems to be feeling better – but – she continues with asking – “I do not see any tea leaves in my tea, what did you use????” The daughter feels that she did a terrific job and so she said, “I used the “FLY SWATTER” and it worked just fine!”!!!
Hearing the word “FLY SWATTER” – the Mother almost crooks – and sets the cup of tea down. Just as fast as the little girl sees that her Mother did not like the “Fly Swatter” having been used – the little girl immediately yells – “I did not use the NEW “FLY SWATTER” – – – – – – – -“I used the OLD “FLY SWATTER!” …..
