“Mrs. Agnes Callahan”

“How would you like to play cards…with one of these  …”Saint Louis Sharpies” they are all out to WIN!”

On the right side of this photo…sitting…and giving you the best smile…that is so inviting to whom …  ever in the world that she meets is…Mrs. Agnes Callahan.

NOW… on the left side of this photo… and also on the left side of the two-step… and if you look – – will see an arrow on he left of the photo…indicating that  – that person kind of leaning on her right elbow – and looking toward the person taking this photo… is my Aunt Irene C. Riley… and she is a member of this “Card Playing Social Club.”

This is only the first of the many photos –  where  photos  are taken at  various members homes – – where they meet monthly  – – and this is an all day “card-playing” affair – – just to see who is the BIG WINNER!

Another photo… that includes both  our good… FRIEND,  Mrs. Agnes Callahan and also our Aunt Irene C. Riley.  Aunt Irene is now facing  the camera, as there were a couple of these  photos taken on this day…of the  “Card Players” – – and Aunt Irene was missing from her spot – – –  with another lady… sitting in her spot – so I’m guessing that some of the ladies take turns… taking the pictures –  – – giving everyone a chance to have photos  – of at least everyone in the “Social Card Playing Club!”

One should remember that these ladies in the  “DAY”  when the ladies were “LUCKY” to have a good husband – – who went to work every day – – and having  a very  good paying position – – just so  that the “House-wife” would be able to do “Volunteer Work”  – – like my Aunt Irene did for the “RED CROSS” wrapping bandages in addition to taking the  “RED CROSS” course of study – – to be ready for any emergency – – and then for those ladies who would still have “FREE TIME” on their hands…and would like  to play  cards!

BUT…in the case with my Aunt Irene… she could  “bake and cook”  better than most of the top CHEFS – –  and she would cook the foods as they should be…so that her husband always had a very  “GOOD” meal – –  and his meals were prepared with “LOVE” –  and –  the idea that he would always be…  healthy…   wealthy…and wise!
