“High School to College and Work”

Oct 4th “High School to College and Work”

When you start a program that includes WORK and can also arrange the WORK hours, so that you can finish your few missing credits for HIGH SCHOOL – What is wrong with trying out for COLLEGE, too?

Once you are able to get yourself set into a system that will work together – some School and a full day at Work – may as well like they say, “Give it the OLD College try” – what works , just try to continue it – and just go on up the ladder. “Others have done it – YOU can, too!”

So, tinkling back, I did think that I wanted to be a “TEACHER” and since I was young and had my whole LIFE – ahead, started checking out the different “Schools” for the course and what the costs would be?

For some reason or the other, someone in management with the Telephone Co., ask me about and what exactly would be my “plans” were they set or possibly, would there be a thought, to go up the ladder at work, and if so, that the “Telephone Co.” would help out, by paying for the courses that would be pertaining to the usefulness of my being more ” Telephone Business” minded!

Maybe, I should have taken them up with their plan – – for a more “Business” rounded course of study – – and letting them pick up the tab – – for some of what I would be doing? But since I had heard so much about my MOTHER not getting to be a “TEACHER for Kindergarten” – since her parents had planned on her taking care of them – when the time came – so she could not be away from HOME for long parts of the day – – since they may have need of special care – – and “WHO” else was there in those days, for them, without interruption?

Sometimes some PLANS have to be put on the ‘back-burner’ just to see what is and what is not available and good for maybe the long run of time, to come? When you are young there are so many things, that one might want to do – but until you go and try a thing or two on your own – HOW do do know, what the best “fit” is for your LIFE?

The Schools were narrowed down to “Harris Teachers’ College” – in mid City and close enough for me to make “Bus and Street-car” connections and get home for study and then to bed and then followed by my working all night.

Have to give Thanks to the Almighty Creator – the ONE that has a plan for us – and so far – think that, I have done most of what I should have – as I feel that, I have received so many extra BLESSINGS – all along the way foe my LIFE. D.V.
