“College and Work and More”

What a wonderful day it was for me that  first week of going to “Harris Teachers” to check out the courses and to actually see if  by “BUS and STREET-CAR” could I make the connections in time for my schedule  as the main part of my day – – I had to be at work at “ten in the evening” had an hour for LUNCH and two “fifteen minute” breaks – and the shift was over at seven in the morning!

When you are young and full of energy, you can do all kinds of things. Remember having to wait in line for a long time and the line was getting longer –  so, I did not leave my spot. With my arms full of “BOOKS” and some of my papers with my name showing, the next two guys in line behind me may have seen my name on something.

So, while we all were waiting, the one fellow ask me, “Did I see you  in another line and waiting also for that class?” I am guessing anyone could say that,  and get a conversation started?  Since we were all waiting and the line  is still moving so slowly –  the next best thing to do is  to get involved in some conversations – so that you do not pay attention to  just standing around,  and doing nothing positive   – but are at least getting to know a little about some of the possible students that will be in some of your classes.

Before the day was over, we had exchanged so much information, as I am  on the nosy side of the street when if comes to asking questions. Guessing that,  that comes from my MOTHER – as she always said,  that if someone is asking questions of you – – you should consider those questions – and be sure to ask those same questions back –  but in such a way,  that they do not realize that  – you are finding out just exactly the same information,  that they are getting from you.

By the time, that it was  for us to leave, we had found out  so much little inconsequential information – and I am guessing that for those around us and in the same line,  were also picking up as to who we were and how to get in touch with us – that when we did see each other in our first classes – we just seem to have so many friends – – friends that we did not really know – -but there was a connection path made to find out more and continue with those that we kind of had  a desire to get to know and join in on some of the side activities that the College had to offer.

Standing in long lines that just seem to not move – – is where one should decide not to waste that time – everyone there had the same desires – get enrolled and get information about as much as you can get – – so as to be able to make wise choices – after,  we have had the time to think about everyone and everything that we were trying to accomplish that day!

Information is KEY to LEARNING – and some of us need more information than some others – and what you are doing and others are doing – can all be changed – when you feed on  all of this  information and can make the best of choices – when all is said and done!
