“Another Birthday coming up for Aunt Irene”

                           “Celebrating with Aunt Irene”img090

Aunt Irene with nephew,  Denny H. McClarren, Jr and his wife Judy.

This picture is on the playground of the German St. Vincent Orphan Home.

This may  be on one of their picnics… either the June Picnic or the August picnic as they have two a year or did back when me and the family were attending maybe 60 to 65 years ago… and this photo could be a maybe… 1965)?

Our Aunt Irene Riley and some of the Ladies from the “Our Lady of Sorrows Church” usually  would operate one  or more of the many booths to make money  and or sell items for the Orphanage and other Charities that Aunt Irene is associated with.

Looks like everyone is having a very good time and the crowd  in the picture… looks like more and more are coming and  this will be a good money making day for the Orphan Home!

For a black and white picture… it seems to me… that you can almost  see how “RED” my brother Denny’s hair is!

This reminds me,  that when we were kids at this Orphanage…  that my brother,  Denny would always win the prize for selling the most “CHANCE TICKETS” that we Kids were supposed to sell on  those “Picnic”  Days.

Every time I would approach someone and ask them if they would want to buy a ticket, the reply would always be, “We just bought from “RED”!”  –

No one had a chance… when “Denny” was doing all of the selling  just as fast as  he could…he would run so fast… back to our class rooms … turn in the money and tickets he  had just sold and then,  get another hand full of tickets … on and on he would go… seems that  no one  had a chance as he had the “RED” hair, that Irish smile and talks with just enough of the  good talk to captivate the people to buy more, than the really wanted…

“… just seems, that everyone,  just loves that “kid” … so much more, who comes along  with the  dazzling  “RED!” hair!”
