Meet Me in St.Louis!

In the late 1940s , we Orphans, would perform on the “Home’s Stage”, while parents, relatives, and friends sat  in the  Auditorium, enjoying  our wonderful show! We would practice  our parts until we could do them in our sleep.

One year, we did    “Meet Me in St.Louis”,   starring  “Norma Fuller”, doing the part  that “Judy Garland” made famous in the movie!  Norma was very nice looking and could do all the dance parts to perfection! There was a lot of singing  and dancing for all of us girls and I do have a picture , which,  when found you will get to see!

The “Nuns” that did the sewing  and making of all the costumes were marvelous.  The delicate, white umbrella, that Norma used in her  “Dance ” numbers, was a “Work  of Art” all done with  lace by the “Nuns”. In Hollywood they would have had an auction and made a “Pretty Penny”.

I wonder  if schools  still  do and create such “Treasures”,  as I have had the opportunity to participate  in     –   and again no films were made?
