“We are getting ready!”
Of all the places to WORK… the above photo shows a small area of the BAKERY… and that is Sister Augustella…one NUN who everyone enjoyed working for…and would WORK …24/7… if that was a choice.
This photo is for the … Anniversary Edition …I would have to check the correct year …where I have an old copy – – and I am so glad to have this once in a LIFE-TIME EDITION…all of the old photos.. from the years when I was there… just to show…how things were…way back and when!
Sister Augustella would have a large “laundry size” basket – just full of the treats…that we would get at “RECESS TIME” – – in the morning and afternoon RECESS times – – and that would be a basket for the GIRL’s side and also a basket for the BOY”s side – – and that was a real treat for each of us to be able to get something …extra sweet! We did not go to the BAKERY…as you see in this photo…as Sister Augustella and her workers were busy “baking” and there was no room for interruptions – as you see all those loaves of bread!
Back then… when I was the size of some of those girls in that photo line… I would work in the BAKERY – – and one of the jobs that I had…was putting those loaves of bread in the bread slicer. Then …one or two girls would spread each slice of bread with “HOME-made grape jam”…which was also from the grape vineyard on the Orphanage grounds – – and we also had “HOME-made Apple-butter” – from the green apple trees…also growing on the Orphanage grounds.
When you think back…these jobs that we had when we were very young…was good training for all of the things that you may consider doing when you are older and have left the Orphanage – – as we all need to work at some point in LIFE – – and what better way is there …than for young children to learn how to develop skills in a variety occupations- – so as to get an idea of the type of work – – which would be of a benefit in more ways than… one can think of – – the motivation factor in determining – – what natural talents – – will provide the exact “road” in LIFE to pursue!
When it comes to this time of the year…Thanksgiving TIME… having had the chance to work in the BAKERY with and for Sister Augustella has been of a great benefit to me…as I have such good memories of getting ready for these HOLIDAYS…and I sure do enjoy telling everyone how and why I do what I do – – since everyday of my LIFE…seems… that each day was a learning lesson…just for the next day and year!

” Quote…worth reading, ponder…”
Mayor Cory Booker on ‘Tell Me More’
If you haven’t heard by now, it seems that when he got home late last evening Mayor Cory Booker (D) of Newark, N.J., “saw flames and smoke from the second floor of the building next to his home,” The Star-Ledger reports.
The mayor and three members of his security detail went into the house, Booker said afterward. They thought they had helped everyone get out, when they heard a woman’s voice cry from inside: “I’m upstairs!”
Booker told the Star-Ledger that, over the objections of one of his security officers, he went back in.
The mayor got to the second floor, which was in flames, and couldn’t find her at first. Then, the Star-Ledger says, “he heard her cries in a back bedroom. ‘I just grabbed her and whipped her out of the bed,’ Booker said. The two made their way downstairs, where they both collapsed, Booker said.”
He suffered smoke inhalation and burns on one hand.
You might recall that back in December 2010, Booker generated headlines when he “joined his public works team to clear streets and run errands for snowbound citizens.” At one point he was delivering diapers to desperate families.
So now, thanks to such heroics, he’s trending on Twitter. Here are some other #corybookerstories from this morning:
— “And why do you think the North Korea rocket launch was thwarted? Cory Booker.”
— “Cory Booker won the Kobayashi Maru.”
— “Cory Booker doesn’t run into fires, fire runs away from Cory Booker.”
— “Cory Booker isn’t afraid of Friday the 13th. Friday the 13th is afraid of Cory Booker.”
— “When there’s something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call?”
Some of the best are also being collected on Tumblr.
The mayor is due on NPR’s Tell Me More later today. We’ll update with a highlight or two from that conversation.
Back in 2009, some may recall, Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett (D) got accolades — and suffered serious injuries — when he intervened in a domestic dispute.
Update at noon ET. OnTell Me More, Booker Says He Did What Anyone Would Do:
Moments ago on Tell Me More, host Michel Martin spoke with Booker. He told her that “most people in America would have done the same thing if your neighbor’s screaming for help.”
And he went in to find the woman despite the objections of his security detail, Booker said, because firefighters hadn’t yet reached the scene and he thought “if we don’t get in there now, this whole place is going to go up and she’s going to pass away.”
Once he had made his way back to the room where the woman was, though, the mayor says he thought he might not come back out alive. “I felt fear, frankly,” he told Michel. It was difficult to breathe, flames were racing. But then he heard her call out again and found the woman. “I put her over my shoulder and sprinted back through the fire,” he said.

Don’t speak to me about your religion;
first show it to me in how you treat other people.
Don’t tell me how much you love your God;
show me in how much you love all God’s children.
Don’t preach to me your passion for your faith;
teach me through your compassion for your neighbors.
In the end, I’m not as interested in what you have to tell or
sell as I am in how you choose to live and give.

“Are WE Ready …YET?”
Getting ready for THANKSGIVING…starts with having the “DINING ROOM” ready!
The above photo is of the “DINING ROOM” on the “BOY’s” side of the German St. Vincent’s Orphanage…in Normandy, Missouri. The table at the far corner of this room …is the table where my two brothers and I would have our meals. If you were the photographer taking this photo – – you are only getting to see where the children sit…for their meals.
Behind the photographer…is the working part of getting each meal served to the children. On the back wall…are the cabinets – – that hold all the dishes…large plates that are used for the dinner meal at 12 noon each day…the cups and saucers that each child had for the milk that was served at each meal…the bowls were for the hot cereals for breakfast and sometimes the bowls were used for super when we would receive puddings and there was a dessert size plate used for Sunday breakfast when each child received a nice piece of “coffee cake” hand made in the bakery…where Sister Augustella was in charge and several of the older girls would work – – because when I was older- – would make it a regular part of my time to be there and help.
Also…what you are not able to see…and…I do not believe that any photos were ever taken…was a stainless steel sink…a long three compartment work table for the complete clean-up- – for the washing and then the rinsing of the dishes to be done by the children working in the dining room – – they would get each and every dish collected from the tables – – after each meal…washed…dried and then hand dried with towels and each clean dish put in the cabinets.
The tables would be washed by some of the girls…who would have the charge of working in the dining room for a six month period and there were maybe ten to twelve girls assigned to this job – – working before and after each meal…when I was there …Sister M. Emeline had the charge of the dining room on the “BOY’s” side – – and I always thought that she was the best of the NUNS – – to work for.

“November VETERAN ROSS G.”
The man on the right of this photo is ROSARIO GRECO… and the other men…well …when I received this photo – – can not remember if… I had ask or wrote down the particulars – regarding where this photo was taken – – and or the occasion. The year could be 1954-1955???
For the inclusion of this photo – – is that we remember all the men who spend the first young years of their LIFE…protecting the LIVES of all AMERICANS…because, we in AMERICA are brought up to remember the Almighty…our CREATOR first and foremost…and next we want to protect those things that we hold dear to our HEARTS’ – – and that is our COUNTRY and FAMILY – – because without a good foundation – – and if we do nothing…we will have nothing!
If we could all just remember to say THANKS …as often as possible to all those who serve…to protect our Country and also have daily “PRAYER GROUP MEETINGS” – – some special daily time set aside for PRAYER for AMERICA – – we need lots of HELP…and all of us…need to do our part!
Remember…we can all sleep better at night…when as we are closing our eyes…and thinking back…did we do this and that TODAY… did we give a thought about this being NOVEMBER…the month of giving THANKS…and just before we call it a night…did we say a PRAYER…for anyone at all – – how about our VETERANS…can we get a real good night’s sleep…with the very last thoughts on our mind…remembering VETERANS with the most sincere and grateful PRAYERS – – because by their standing watch … through the night – – we find ourselves falling into the best sleep – ever! “Our being Grateful and Thankful…makes all the difference…in the world!”

“November VETERAN THOMAS H.”
This is THOMAS H. ALDRICH and some of the team…that he was working with in KOREA…1964 -1965 – – Dog Platoon – – K-9 CORP…
TOM is the man standing…top left of photo – – and I sure am grateful and THANKFUL…that he gave to me…some of the photos that were taken of himself and the other men… that he was working with. The only thing that happens… when the person, who gives you the photos is no longer here – – then …there is no way to have the names of all of the men on the photos???
If you enlarge this photo…you may be able to see the name of these men on their uniforms…and one never knows – – someone just may know one of these young men – – – as they all look very young …to me!
Do not forget to remember to say a few PRAYERS…for all of our young men and women- – as they may have served and may not be here…today??? But – – with the way the world turns – – you never know who may be called up next to serve – – – and – everyone that gives up the best years of their LIFE…for all of us at HOME – – to enjoy FREEDOM – – needs as much support as we can give … not just today – – but for all time – they deserve so much more than what they are receiving. Almighty Yahweh… protect us all…especially all our young men and women that are called to serve in the AMERICA’s ARMED FORCES! DV

“November VETERAN ALBERT E.”
This is Albert E. Aldrich…my husband Lee’s… older brother.
This is the one week…that I would like to remember… on each day of the week… at least a different member of our FAMILY… someone that served in one of the ARMED BRANCHES of SERVICE – – just so that the whole world…will also be inspired to remember someone in their own FAMILY.
It would be wonderful…if AMERICA…would spend more money on the men and women that volunteer to serve…to protect all of AMERICA – – and the Countries that believe in the same LOVE for one another…to LIVE in a Country …where FREEDOM is an important part of the way we LIVE! We each interrupt some part of our LIVES to share …our young ones giving up their LIFE for the PASSION of sharing our strong connection of equality of LIFE …one for another… and we all remember that we owe the CREATOR…the true strength that – – we have and share with those that also believe in the same CREATOR…the one true giver of all good gifts.
Al Aldrich was a true brother to my husband Lee – – – they each always had the other in mind…when something exciting was going on – – especially when it came to working together…in the later years of their LIFE. Each had health problems and each was right there for the other. Sometimes – – in some FAMILIES…when someone needs a helping hand… it is surprising…no one there to give a helping hand – – and or even.. to just be there.
Al and Lee are both together where …they no longer have any worries of what is happening on earth…so… if there is a way…where they are NOW – – -I’ll bet that they are having some … real FUN!
If… it is at all possible…right NOW…check on your members of your FAMILY…especially if they have served in the ARMED FORCES… if they need anything at all…see to it… that they receive what they need. There are special agencies that have ways and means of helping – – see to it that they are receiving the needed help…NOW! AND…do not forget…when nothing else works…PRAYER – – is the “ONE” way to secure HELP…from ABOVE!
