“DADDY and ME!”

You can tell  – – just by looking at this old PHOTO  — that this is when the world was in “better times” – – when you take the time to think about the past – – and do a little comparing – – how and what we were doing  – – way back in the 1930’s – – what do you think??

Looking at me – – – in the strong arms of  my “DADDY” – – I am sitting on top of the world!  Being the first child in the FAMILY – -I am taken everywhere – -I am getting to meet all of the FAMILY  and FRIENDS – and from what my MOTHER told me – everyone liked me and wanted me to visit them – evidently – – the one thing that which –  I do  even  NOW – – I was doing then – – and that  was  asking questions – – asking  “WHY”  was the one word – that I used more than any other…  just wanted to know  WHY  everything was the way it was?

One story that – – my MOTHER told me  – – was  that  when  she had the refrigerator  door open – she was  getting something  out  –  – and walked  away just long enough – – and I was just the right size to stand there – – looking in at all of the food – – – and what a “mystery” to me – – was  the wire basket full of “FRESH EGGS?”  – – I had round balls – – that were small – -about the size of those eggs – – and must have been trying to make a connection – – as to “WHY” my toys would be in there??

So…  before she knew what I was up to doing – – I had taken hold of one egg – – and threw it down on the floor – – – and just looking at the broken egg on the floor – – and not   able to figure out why…   this ball  did not   bonce    up and back to me – – the mess – – just did not look right – – so I am guessing to see what was wrong – – I grabbed another egg – – and threw it…  also down to the floor! As my MOTHER turned around – and saw the mess – – I started to cry – – as   there was something happening here – – and I did not know about eggs – – and that these were not balls for me to play with.

I am guessing that after – – someone would be telling me more – – about what I could touch and what to keep my little nosy hands off – – before there was too much damage done!

This…   “PHOTO” of me and  DADDY is one of my   favorites – – you can see that I have my shoes and socks on – – and I always knew – -I was then ready to go somewhere – – and as you can see my “HAND”  is busy pointing to where we should be going – – and it sure was good to be up so high – – so as to see and be able to be  the “director” of where we were going and what we would be doing!

“It sure does pay… to be  DADDY’s”  little girl!”  It was always FUN… to get to travel in style – – being carried in the arms of   “DADDY!”

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY…DADDY”

img088

Today is February 2nd… and… BIRTHDAY to my FATHER…also  – TODAY  is dedicated to  the  “OLD GROUND-HOG” which is suppose to be able to give us (people) a forecast of what the  WEATHER will be in the following weeks…so with all of  that foolishness going on…my DADDY is having FUN…being called the old GROUND-HOG, himself!

The above PHOTO is of me and DADDY…taken in the back yard of where we were living when my brother, DENNY, Jr., was born. Maybe around my brother’s birthday …I may have posted the  PHOTO of my MOTHER holding baby DENNY…and I am sitting in my little rocker…and I am watching …just to be sure everything is being done correctly…as I am so close  and  next to  our new baby …as when my brother was to be born…and this was back in the day…when they kept Mothers ready to be  delivered   in the hospital at least  a good two weeks or more .

So…for my MOTHER to be in the hospital a couple of weeks…I had to be placed with someone…and NOW that we were all back together… and with a new baby…I was not going to be  just put somewhere…without knowing WHY???

Looks like with the new baby…and all of the  new excitement….I was the only baby …and now…there is a new baby…so I had to put my “TWO CENTS” out there …for all …to KNOW that I was still around… and …in this  PHOTO… I  may have been sixteen or seventeen  months old…and from what I was told…I always had a lot to say…Still  DO…have two cents more to add…

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY…DADDY…”

“Daddy’s Birthday is on Ground-hog’s DAY”

Daddy 1975 001

When you hear that “GROUND-HOG’s DAY”  is  coming up – –  you just know that DADDY is also going to be out and celebrating – as everybody will  also  be doing…in HOPES of WARMER WEATHER!

Since DADDY  has already  left “EARTH” and is now in the realm of the next domain… if they have cooks making good meals…you can count on DADDY being one of  the top CHEFS…as he was well known for all the wonderful cooking and baking that he was called on to do here  …and was  one person that could go about his cooking without even …needing to look at a recipe .. which is one thing that I can not do… but sure would like to….just plan on what I want to bake and not  even  need the  recipe.

Only… when you do the same things a hundred and one times … finally…you do not need the recipe…so… I  guess I will have to decide exactly the one and only thing that I want to do without the recipe – – then I will be able to say… that I can do what  DADDY   does. This will be a big decision…since…it will be hard to decide on only one favorite dessert…I like so many.

“November…never forget our VETERANS!”

Dad Service Photo 001

NOVEMBER is the month…to give THANKS and to be GRATEFUL… and just in case you ask…”WHY” — – because we have men and women to give up what they have most precious…their LIFE and YOUTH as a young person – – in the the SERVICE of PROTECTING …the LAND of our BIRTH…AMERICA!

It is a real crime…that  – WE – PEOPLE of KNOWLEDGE – – have found that the only way to settle our disputes…is with WAR!  Would it not be better… to have a WAR of Words… than to kill innocent young people  – those who have no stake in this quarrel  – – and all those families who just happen to be in the way…of where the quarreling counties decide to fight it out to the last standing man or women???

We all know that … that there will never be a “WORLD PEACE” – – so why not learn some other way to put your cards on the table  – – to see which  other way there would be …so that all can continue…living as long as possible…until the day that your  CREATOR …decides to call you… HOME!

The above photo of my FATHER, Denny H. McClarren Sr. – was in his wallet  – – till the day he died. It would have been nice if he would let one of us children of his – – have made a good copy – – one that could have been in a frame – – because…as you can see…something in the wallet…goes through another WAR…all on it’s own – – till the day it is rescued???

This month of November – – start letting “VETERANS” know how much you appreciate just exactly what they are doing…just so you can enjoy  HOME …in FREEDOM…with  all of your FAMILY…the same way that each VETERAN…  would LOVE to be enjoying with their own FAMILY!

If nothing else…send PRAYERS… YES – – PRAYERS…that someday soon we can settle our differences… in ways that do not include using guns and physically …fighting… each other to the death!

“Memorial Day” – remembers the wounded!”

Daddy's Tummy 001

“Memorial Day”… will last the whole week – and maybe even a few extra days –  – at this time of the year – –  since I feel that we should remember  all  of  those who  – –  “fought the good fight” – –  for the “FREEDOM” that we all  …  now enjoy!

The above photo is of my father – Denny H. McClarren Sr. when he was stationed in Manila, Philippines – doing his  three,  two-year stints in the Army.  He was injured and this could be his passage back home – to the United States.

At the time…  when  my FATHER signed up to join the Army – he was  not yet old enough – –  but “TIMES” were bad – and so –  from a small town in OHIO –   with  too many other mouths to feed in his home – the ARMY looked like the best place to go. This is probably the same situation for a lot of the young men in those times – and  in his signing up for the ARMY – he would be taken care of – – and those at home would have it just a little better  – without  an extra person  to feed – also in those same times – –  there was little or nothing in the line of work to be done by under age young men!

So, with the great plan of the ALMIGHTY –  – – my Father-to-be was protected and his injury to his back  –  his  having to be in a “body-cast”  for six-months – – was gradually leading him to the Saint Louis, Missouri  area – to where he will meet my MOTHER-to-be – – –   so…  then these two new “LIVES” – with lots of challenges… some good and bad choices… and a whole  load of consequences to  follow –  – – up and  down … over the years  of LIFE – turns out to be a sink or swim situation…

Since I do not know any other LIFE – I cannot comment  on some wild wish –  but I am grateful for the LIFE – that I was given…  and I can only guess that –  if … we all think about where we are and where we could  have been   – that  … somewhere else …would not  maybe …be as good… we should all be grateful and thankful  –  that the ALMIGHTY did  send   protection to and for all of our SERVICE MEN – who were injured and were able to come  HOME  – making a FAMILY  –  that we can all we proud of!

With lots of PRAYER for all of the SERVICE MEN  that  served in all of the past WARS and CONFLICTS and for those who are still defending AMERICA – today   – –   we should daily…  Pray for Blessings –  for their Guidance and the continued Presence of the ALMIGHTY  – that –  those that served are always and forever…  remembered!

“Daddy’s Birthday – and here we are!”

Baby Karen 001

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY” the big  103rd –  from all of us !

L to R – Denny Jr., Mary Ellen, Tommy, and in your arms –  our Daddy is holding our little baby sister, Eve Karen who was just born on the 16th of February 1946 –  and in Heaven is the twin, Kathleen – who died within the week of the twins being born. So, at least we all know that we have a little “ANGEL” in  the great beyond waiting to greet all of us as time goes by!

Sometimes – when we are taking pictures of the family – like the one above – we have no idea that this  simple photo – – could be the only altogether “FAMILY PORTRAIT”  – that this Family will ever  make – for all eternity?? We , three kids – are just so “HAPPY” that this is a “VISITING SUNDAY” – and our parents with our new born- baby sister Eve Karen is able to come to the Orphanage and we  will  have less than four (4) hours to say  and do all that we can.

“VISITING” hours were from 1:00 to 5:00 pm – the parents had to come into this special entrance – check in – – and then one of the children  – who never ever received a “VISIT” would be the “RUNNER” to the play-room to call the child or children to the “AUDITORIUM” – where chairs  would  have been  set up in circles – so that the child with his or her   FAMILY – could enjoy an hour or two  to see and talk and or just “CRY”  with “JOY” – someone came to see them??

I just LOVE when someone in the FAMILY has a BIRTHDAY –   and –  I do not mind that they are not here or that they could be in another STATE – -I have to confess – “I like cake” – and whoever has a BIRTHDAY – I feel that someone should celebrate for them – whether they are here or not to celebrate with me!  I always start the day  – “do you know who has a BIRTHDAY – today?”  And a cake is made – so that is my way to remember you, for always!          ***** “HAPPY BIRTHDAY   –   DADDY!”  *****
